Aria.
The annual hunt was held outside the pack house and it was in the woods, Alpha Rowan invited some other packs to join in the hunt, so the woods were filled with wolves.
Kade made me stay close to him during the hunt, and he didn’t go too far because he didn’t want to lose sight of me.
“Stay close, Aria.” I had lost count of how many times he said that. He added that he didn’t want me to get close to the woods because he wouldn’t be able to look for me in the woods and I might end up getting hurt.
So, I stayed close to Kade and watched him interact with the other warriors, making sure that each part of the woods was protected.
“Aria, Alpha Rowan wants you to come to him, now, he said you should bring his flask which held his tea in it, to him.” A blonde woman said to me. “He said he needs it now before he starts the hunt.”
“If I were you, I would get going.” She pressed on when I hesitated.
I had brought the flask with me, and I wanted to inform Kade that I was leaving because Alpha Rowan wanted me but he was in a deep conversation. I don’t want to get into trouble with Alpha Rowan, especially not here.
I turned to the blonde.
“Where is he?”
“Come, I will take you to him.”
I followed her, holding the flask to my chest, I marched the grass with my black boots, and the tight jeans that I wore, following the lady closely.
Before I knew what was happening, something hit me on the back of my head, I stumbled face down, the flask falling from my hand.
“Is she the one?” I heard voices.
“Yes.” A haggard voice responded, I groaned and tried to stand, but a strong hand forced a handkerchief on my nose. His arms were strong and no matter how hard I hit them, they wouldn’t budge, his grip tightened.
I could smell wolfsbane in the handkerchief, I kicked my feet, fighting back but nothing, the face of the man was masked, and my sight was getting blurry.
I kicked his groin, and he grunted and took his hand off my nose, I jerked up to my feet and ran.
Running past the giant trees, and thick bushes, it didn’t take more than a minute before he came after me.
I ran faster, knowing that I couldn’t shift my legs was the only option I had, something struck my back.
I groaned and tumbled, and the next minute, I saw him shift into his wolf form, a black wolf.
He growled and jumped in front of me.
He raised his claws to stroke me with it, I let out a scream and covered my face with my hand.
I heard a louder growl, and when I could no longer feel the weight of the wolf, I took my hands off and saw him fighting with a brown wolf with dark hazel eyes.
Kade.
The black wolf ran off, and Kade’s wolf scurried over to me.
His wolf whimpered, and I forced a smile on my lips and touched his furs. He shifted back to his human form, and I thought he was going to blame me for leaving his side but instead, he picked me up from the ground.
I whined when he touched me, he said nothing, but his jaw was clenched tight, and his eyes stared ahead of us.
“Kade,” I called, he didn’t spare me a glance.
“You’re hurt, I will get you treated.” He spoke quietly. “Lean close.”
I placed my head on his chest and locked my hands around his neck, I watched him from under my lashes.
“Someone was after you.” He stated, and he looked down at me for a brief moment. “That wolf could have…” He averted his gaze, the words felt heavy in his throat.
I knew what he meant, someone wanted to kill me, and that was clearly an assassinating attempt on my life.
I was in danger, that was the reality, and someone in the pack wanted me dead.
Kade took me out of the woods and made me sit on the wooden bench close to where the other wolves were gathered.
“Let me see.” He muttered, his eyes softened, and I fiddled with my shirt.
“You want me to take you inside?” He asked and clasped his hand over mine.
I shook my head and twirled around on the seat, and rolled my shirt up a little.
“Fuck.” Kade cussed while staring at the wound on my back, there was another wound at the back of my head as well.
“I will clean them up.” He muttered and went to grab the first aid kit.
I bit my lower lip and exhaled.
I felt the slight touches on my back, whining.
“I’m sorry.” He cooed and was a little more gentle with his torches and I felt something roll down my back, it didn’t feel like water, it smelled like blood.
I looked over my shoulder and glanced at him.
He had slit his palm with a small knife.
“Why did you do that Kade?”
“You think I could bear leaving you writhing in pain? You’ll heal faster with my blood.”
I took my lips in and stared at him, he didn't know anything about me, and I couldn’t bring myself to tell him either.
“How did you find me?” I asked.
“I took a glance at the spot I left you and you weren’t there. I left the warriors and searched around, and then I saw the flask on the ground. I knew you had it with you, it was for Alpha Rowan.”
“Did something happen?” Someone interjected.
Kade dropped my shirt, and I spun around on the bench, Kade stood up and picked up the first aid box.
“It’s none of your business.” He hissed at him, and I had to stare at the intruder.
“It seems that she’s hurt, so I got the doctor for her.”
“I can take care of it.” Kade snapped.
“Don’t be stubborn Kade, she should see a doctor if there’s a need to.”
“Would you stay out of it, Lucian?”
Lucian, the cold and calculative strategist from the council. When his cold gray eyes looked at me, I turned the other way. He had this silver hair that distinguished him from the other wolves in the council.
His motive remained unclear, and he was more reserved and tended to observe more than engage but now he was here, staring at me, and the wound that I had sustained and holding a conversation with Kade.
I suspected him, he could have sent the wolf after me. He was part of the council, and Rowan trusted strategist.
His eyes lingered on my face, his expression was hard to decipher.
He breathed out and jammed his hands into his pocket. “Alpha Rowan wants you to meet with him after the hunt.” He turned the other way and sauntered out of our midst.
My suspicion was around him, the reason he came here to find out if Kade brought me back dead or not. He was working with Rowan.
I was determined to find out the truth behind the attack, and whoever was after me because someone clearly wanted me dead.
Aria. After the pack hunt, I went to meet with Alpha Rowan in the pack house, he was already pacing when I got there. I came to a sudden halt, and lowered my gaze when I was close enough. He spun around, and his voice thundered across the hall. “You little thief!” I was forced to stare at him. Wondering what he meant. I have never stolen from him, his accusations were quite alarming.“You were the only one that had access to my study room and you cleaned it last, my diamond ring is missing!” I shook my head and fell on my knees. “I didn’t take any diamond, Alpha.” “Are you calling your Alpha a liar? You bum?” I shook my head vigorously and swore that I didn’t take his diamond. He chuckled darkly and crossed his hands at his back. “You were going to run away after you stole it, there’s evidence that your bag was packed and my diamond ring was found among your things.” He squatted and held my chin roughly. “You were going to run away tonight after the hunt, that was your plan
Aria. The claws of the wolf were on my shoulder, digging deeper into my shoulders. While he stared at Alpha Damon, I wasn’t expecting him to be here or how he found me in the woods. Alpha Damon growled, and took a step closer. “Let go of her.” He ordered using his Alpha tone. The wolves left my side and I was panting heavily. They bowed at him. The wolf who had his claws on my shoulder turned, he glanced at me, and took his gaze back to Alpha Damon. “We will follow you back to the pack house.” He snarled. Alpha Damon ignored him and strode towards me, my left arm was around my right shoulders, pressing down the wound on my shoulder. Damon squatted in front of me, he stared intently at me and I lowered my gaze, his fingers reached out to my hair and brushed them off my face. “I don’t want to go back to Alpha Rowan.” I mumbled, blinking the tears off my eyes. “He will kill me.” I sniffed, his hand moved to the back of my head and placed it on his shoulders. He whisper
Aria. “Take her away, Kade and keep an eye on her.” Alpha Rowan ordered, the moment Alpha Damon walked out of the pack house. He stared at me before he left, his eyes filled with worry, he looked like he didn’t want to leave me there with him. “Alpha, you haven’t…” Alpha Rowan cut him off before he could complete his words. “You heard what she did Kade, do you expect me to keep someone like that beside me again? And you were going to help her escape the pack. Do you think you’ve any right to question me at this moment?”Kade exhaled and lowered his head in submission at Rowan’s outburst. “Alpha, everything is a lie, and nothing like that was going to happen.” Kade protested, I stepped closer to him and touched his arm and shook my head at him. I didn’t want him to argue with Alpha Rowan. He sent wolves to have me killed, he could do worse to Kade, and it wasn’t something I wanted. I don’t want to lose him. “Are you going against my orders?” Alpha Rowan barked, I shook my head,
Aria. “I was about to leave. I didn’t plan to stay too long.” Lucian said and pulled away from me, he turned, and kept his gaze at Kade. Kade glanced at me and then at Lucian. “She needs to rest.” Lucian nodded. “I will be back tomorrow to check up on her.” “You don’t have to…” Kade interjected, and strolled into the room.Lucian simply nodded and didn’t say anything else. He headed towards the door and walked out of the room. He closed the door quietly behind him. Kade exhaled when he was gone, he placed his hands on the bed. “Be careful of him.” He mumbled. I nodded slowly, I knew Lucian was someone that I couldn’t trust, and didn’t believe most of the things that he said but I needed him. If I want to go against Alpha Rowan, I need him by my side, and I want Soren out of the prison too because he knows a lot since he was once a rogue before he came to the pack. “Get some rest. I will sit here and watch you.” “Why are you doing this Kade?” “What do you mean why am I doing
Kade. I left the hospital because Alpha Rowan needed me in the pack house. I couldn’t disobey him because he was Alpha, and the leader of our pack. I didn’t want to leave Aria alone in the hospital, she was sound asleep when I left and the doctor said she was recovering quite well and there was no cause for me to worry about her in the hospital. So I left and went to attend to the words of the Alpha. He was in some sort of discussion with Alpha Damon when I came to his office, he looked over some documents with him. His face held a smile of satisfaction. He looked that way because he was getting what he wanted, an alliance in exchange for Aria. I have known Aria ever since I started working as a pack warrior, she was made to serve the warriors' foods and take care of some of their needs. Everyone knew her, because she was the pack slave. But I didn’t like the way she was being treated in the pack house, and I wanted to protect her in my own way. If I could I would have taken he
Aria. I woke up in a comfy bed, soft and luxurious. My lashes flapped, and I stood up slowly from the bed, and rubbed my eyes. I had left for what felt like a century, the last thing I remembered was when I was in the car with Alpha Damon, what happened after, I didn’t quite remember. I pushed the covers off my body and stood up from the bed, the room was twice the size of the entire room in the servant quarters at Rowan’s Pack. Beside the wardrobe, the things were on the floor, he had brought them over to his pack. The door opened abruptly, and startled me. Alpha Damon cleared his throat. “…I didn’t know you were awake. The last time I came in, you were asleep. I wanted to check up on you.” He stepped in, and stood in front of me. I pointed a finger on my dress, I wasn’t on this dress when I left the pack. “A maid changed it for you and…” I raised my brow, waiting for him to say the word. “…and she said there were some scars in your body.” My brow creased with a frown. “I
Damon. “…that you’re my mate.” I wanted to see the look on her face when I said that, her eyes widen at me and she wanted to speak because her lips parted but no words came out of her mouth. “It’s just a rumor or a gossip. You shouldn’t think that much about it and I would have anyone who goes around spreading such rumors punished.” I responded, and walked out of the room. I didn’t want to stay any longer in her presence, I got angry and mixed emotions each time I was by her side. I had seen the scars on her body when she was undressed, I was infuriated by it. I wanted to do something to Rowan, and went back to Silverwolf Pack but I didn’t meet at the pack house. I was informed that he had gone for a meeting. I couldn’t wait because I had to go back to the pack and check on Aria.I left a word for him. “Alpha, the council wants a meeting with you…” My Beta informed me as I stepped into my study room. “When did you get here?” I glanced at him over my shoulders. “About an hour.”
Aria. Alpha Damon wasn’t around for dinner as he said he would, I was served dinner in the big dining room alone. I thought of Kade, I had always eaten with him, and I never felt alone in the kitchen with him but now I missed his presence around me. I was able to eat just little from the meal that I was served, and went back to my bedroom, I started to unpack my things that was brought to the pack. There was clothes in the wardrobe already, I wonder how Alpha Damon was able to get that all. I took out the only stuff I had left from my family, and slowly slide down beside the bed, glance through it. I found my mom’s diary among the things in the small box, and my Alpha’s crest and Alpha. There was a necklace which my elder brother Drayton had, he shared the same thing with me. I took them out, and smiled faintly at it. I kept it aside and picked up Mom’s diary, I have never read through it completely. I placed it on my lap, and started to flip through the pages, brushing against
Kade. I stormed out of the Alpha’s office, and hurried down through the stairs as fast as I could, breathing heavily. I was angry, my wolf needed to be let out and I needed something to let my anger out on. “Kade!” Lucian yelled my name. I ignored him as I kept heading out of the pack house. “Hold on for a moment.” I didn’t even spare him a glance, my jaw was clenched tightly as I kept walking. “Kade!”I heard his footsteps behind me as he ran towards me, and he grabbed my arm and pulled me back to face him when he got close. I yanked my hand off his grip. “Get the fuck off me!” I yelled at him. “I just wanted to talk to you, acting this way isn’t going to help any fucking thing.” “What does it mean to you? Acting this way…” I huffed. “You’ve no idea what just happened, and what I am about to do, so get the fuck off my path.” “You are not going to take Aria away from Damon are you?” “You heard the Alpha’s order.” I said through gritted teeth, Lucain exhaled and ruffled his h
Kade. “Get Kade in here right now!” I heard Alpha Rowan yelled outside his office, I was already there because I wanted to talk to him about transferring to another pack. Liam had stepped out of his office, and met me outside. His eyes roamed over my body for a moment. “Come in, Alpha Rowan wants you now.” He held the door of the office and opened it. I stepped into the office with a skeptical look at Liam. Alpha Rowan was seated on his desk fuming, his hand slammed against the table in front of him. I wasn’t going to ask if something was wrong, I wanted to talk to him about the issue that had been pending for days and he wasn’t saying anything about it. “Alpha about the transfer…” He lifted his hand, and made me clamp my lips shut. “Transfer?” Someone else spoke, and it wasn’t the voice of the Alpha but someone else. I looked into the office, and saw the figure that had his back against me, he was seated on the couch, and he was the one who replied to me. He stood up slowly,
Aria. “Who was that?” I asked Damon after he went out for a moment and came back afterwards. “I have taken care of it, you don’t have to worry.” He replied, and went back to put the apron back on. I tapped my fingers on the table and watched him. He threw a wink at me and stood beside the chef where I could see him turning on the gas. I sipped from the glass of wine slowly with my gaze fixed on him, he was done after some minutes. I didn’t quite check how long he was there preparing a meal. He came to me when he was done, and served the table. The Chef was behind him, holding another bottle of wine and two glasses. “This is Pan seared steak au poivre with garlic shrimps and roasted vegetables.” Damon said before he took a seat. “It’s not my favorite, if I want to make you my favorite, I would have to use my mom’s recipe. Here, have a bite.” He handed me a fork. I took it and tasted the meal on my plate and it tasted so damn good. I never knew Damon could be this good at cooking
Aria. When I blinked my eyes, he was gone as there wasn’t a masked man just right in front of me. “What’s wrong?” I was startled when a hand touched me. I spun around, and saw Damon standing beside me. His hand squared my shoulders, and pulled me close to me. “It’s okay.” He whispered. “It’s me.” As if he had sensed my fears. He let go of my shoulder and held my hand, taking me out of the museum. He headed towards the car, and opened the door for me. “Get in, I will take you somewhere else.” I entered, and he closed the door. I hadn’t found my voice yet. He glanced at me when he started driving. “Did something happen?” He asked. I stared at me, I didn’t know how I was going to say it to him. That there was an attempt on my life at Silverwolf Pack, and Alpha Rowan’s judgement was also to have me killed. I didn’t know if it was a coincidence that such a thing was happening or if it was planned. If Rowan had any idea that I was the daughter of Alpha
Aria. “There’s someone you might want to see. He’s waiting at the living, you have been having a lot of guests visiting, Aria. How about you let them come live with us?” Peterson said as he opened the door for me, I gave him a side glare and stepped out of my room. “After you.” He gestured, and I took the stairs, and there was Lucian seated in one of the empty chairs. He was having a conversation with Damon, without being close I could feel the tension that was between them. They stared at me simultaneously, as if they had both noticed my presence. Damon had stopped talking, he rubbed his hands over his laps and leaned against the seat. “You should give us some time alone, I want to speak with Aria.” “And what if I don’t.” Damon retorted. I stared at them, wondering what was going on between them. “I want to speak with her alone, Alpha.” He drawled and kept a straight face. “This is my house.” “I will take her to my car then…” Lucian stood up, and proceeded to grab my wrist.
Aria. “I will take her home now, Mrs Smith.” I was back at the desk of the receptionist, and Peteson was beside me. “Send my regards to your Alpha.” Mrs Smith muttered, Peterson bowed, and turned to leave the hospital. I followed him to the car, and we left. Throughout the ride we were silent, I caught him stealing glances at me at intervals. Probably had something to say but wasn’t saying it. “Do you feel any better?” He eventually said when we were close to the house. “She’s a good doctor.”I nodded. “She knew I didn’t have a wolf.”He shrugged. “Everyone could sense that, if your wolf is absent we all know.”“You know I don’t have one.” He stared at me through the mirror in front of him in the driver’s seat. “I thought you everyone knows, I’m not left out of it.”I let out a deep breath, and faced the window. “That only explains why you had so many scars, you won’t be in and out of the hospital if you had a wolf, it could have saved you a lot and Alpha won’t have been dragg
Kade. “Is there another reason why you want us to move?” My father asked, he went to take a seat beside mom on the chair, he handed over a glass of water to her. “Dad, we can’t keep talking about you, you know the reason why we should leave. I think it’s better if we do, Mom hasn’t healed either since we lost Abby!” “Kade, that's enough.” He spoke quietly. “But you know that’s the truth and because since that day you’ve never asked me how I felt, Mom just never spoke about it, we tried to forget that it happened in the pack and nobody knew where Abby was. Why did you think I trained so hard to be part of the warrior in the pack?” He kept quiet, I paced behind them, because neither of them were saying a word. “Why do we have to stay, we can move from the pack and maybe heal from the past, staying here will only bring memories.” “You never spoke about this before.” Dad muttered, and exhaled deeply. “We’ve been here since it happened, why do we have to move now?” “I thought there
Aria. I have been locked in my room all day, reading through mom’s diary for a thousand times till each of her words rang in my head. I didn’t know who I was going to go against Rowan, my wolf was still bounded, I couldn’t shift, and I did feel stuck. I couldn’t come out of my room, and talked to anyone. Now, I have watched Damon walk out of the dining room, his countenance has changed in a split of a moment. I couldn’t call him by his name but I was used to addressing Alphas as Alphas. I wanted to say it to him but instead, I had just watched him leave. “Would you have breakfast now?” A maid asked when she knocked on my door. “What about the Alpha?” “He left.” I sighed. “I will have that later.” I replied and went back to bed, Iay on it shortly before another knock came in. I groaned and stood up from the bed, annoyed and opened the door. “I told you I would have….” I swallowed the words back in when I noticed it wasn’t the maid that was there but the red haired Beta of A
Damon. I paid less attention to what they were saying at the council meeting but I did catch the eyes of a man staring at me throughout the meeting. I had seen his face before, I couldn’t remember where I had seen him but he was part of the council. I wanted the meeting to end quickly so I could go back to my pack and see Aria. I had been busy for the past few days, and hadn’t been able to see her. “…and we’ll think about how to make changes in our pack and make the Moonlit Gala eventful as well.” The Chief Elder was giving a round up speech. They said joining hands with the Silverwolf pack was a good thing to do since I had never interacted with any Alpha packs before. Well, whatever they say. “This would be the end of our meeting…” He said, and I stood up, the next meeting, I wasn’t sure I would be of any attendance to it. “Alpha.” A voice stopped me, I turned and spared him a stare. His hands were stuffed in his pocket when he approached me, he took them out when he got clo
