LORRAINE'S POV

They are engaged? Right after they told me it was a misunderstanding?

“Please calm down, Lorraine. There has to be an explanation for this,” Chloe pleaded but her words sounded distant to my ears.

My mates were officially engaged and she said there was an explanation.

I stood dazedly.

“Lorraine, please hold on. Let me call them, at least,” she pleaded with me.

I didn't stop. I wished she would just give up and see them for who they truly are. They didn't like me. I don't why they acted like they were in love with me.

But this was just a cruel joke.

Maybe that is what it was to them. They were trying to play me.

Tears stung my eyes as I left the room. I walked outside the house to find some solace in the garden.

That was when I saw Josh coming into the manor. He looked nothing like the arrogant Josh I was used to. Aside from the scars scattered all over his exposed skin, he was lean and malnourished.

“Josh?” I called and he froze like a deer caught in headlights.
