Becca's POV

I stared at the big wall clock in the dimly lit witches' coven house, its hands ticking relentlessly. My thoughts were consumed by Bas. Was he safe? Was he suffering? I longed to see him, to know he was alright. But I couldn't afford to show my emotions; every move I made could be scrutinized and used against me.

"Here," Naomi's voice broke through my thoughts as she placed a glass of juice in front of me.

"Thanks," I murmured, taking a sip to calm my nerves.

"Are you worried about Bas?" Naomi's voice was soft, tinged with concern.

"Of course I am, but... it's a hard decision," I replied, trying to inject sorrow into my tone. "Right now, I need to prioritize myself."

The truth was I would never betray Bas. My real goal was to gain Aria's trust and uncover who she truly was. Her stories seemed plausible, but her eyes betrayed no remorse, no emotion, no pain. It made me question the authenticity of her words.
