Bas POV

My hands kept trembling as I stormed out of the room. I couldn't bear to see Becca, to witness the hurt in her eyes caused by my reaction. Shame and self-loathing surged within me; I had acted so poorly, so recklessly. I knew this moment would come, and I hated myself more for allowing it to happen.

I needed to escape, to release the turmoil inside me. Walking into the woods, I shifted to my wolf form. With a loud howl that echoed through the trees, I ran deeper into the forest, Becca's words haunting my mind.

"We're going to be parents."

No. I can't lose her. I just can't.

I came to a stop in a small clearing and shifted back to my human form. My breaths were ragged, my body trembling as I fell to the ground, tears streaming down my face. The grief and fear were overwhelming, and I couldn't contain the flood of emotions any longer.
