Maliyah
I love how Aspen knows how to cheer me up. He knows me better than anyone else. We are walking hand in hand passed the training field. The warriors are training hard as they are preparing to be ranked. I see a young warrior, Ray I think is his name, getting the wind knocked out of him by Chris. I feel bad they paired him with Chris, Chris is one of the best and we all already knew he would be a high ranking warrior.
I stop watching the fight and grimace as I hear bones crunching as blood begins to pour from Ray’s nose. Yet, he doesn’t give up and gets back up, preparing his next attack. I can tell even Chris wishes the young wolf would just stay down.
“Come on Ray, you can do it,” I yell from the sidelines.
“What are you doing,” asks Aspen.
“I think he could use some encourage
Maliyah“Maliyah are you okay,” asks dad as Aspen places me on the couch in my room.Dr. Smith immediately hooks up an IV to me though the gash as already closed. She still goes through her checklist to ensure everything else is fine and takes some of my blood.“I’ll come check your blood again in an hour. Hopefully there will be no wolfsbane in your system by then.”We all thank Dr. Smith as she leaves with a vial of my blood.“I’m fine, really. It’s just a scratch.”“I’m gonna kill him,” growls dad.“Come on dad, that’s unnecessary. It’s not like he could’ve really hurt me.”“Well he is no longer welcome in this pack. I cannot just let this go, he attacked another pack member and could’ve killed you. Thankfully, you are half dragon so the wolfsbane doe
MaliyahThis party has been an all day event. Those with pups started leaving around seven while the rest started getting drunk and dancing to whatever popular song the DJ played next. Mom and my siblings called it a night around nine and now I am about to join them. It’s almost midnight and I can tell dad is about to shut it down.“Alright warriors, I’m glad you all have enjoyed your night but it’s time to hit the sack. The real work begins tomorrow,” says dad as everyone begins cleaning up the trash.“I wasn’t sure you were going to last,” I tease Aspen.“Hey I’m not even three hundred yet. That’s still young for us elves.”“Huh, whatever makes me feel better.”Aspen picks me up and tickles me, making me laugh uncontrollably.“Okay, okay I surrender,” I laugh. He sets m
AspenI am so glad today is the day I will be taking Maliyah to the elf realm. I need her safe and she needs a break from seeing Luca all the time. I swear he is everywhere and always watching her. Maliyah is still fast asleep from last nights events so I quietly slip out of the room.“How is she this morning,” asks Derek’s Beta and brother, Mark.“It took her forever to get back to sleep. What she saw really scared her.”“I have mind linked Derek and Davina to meet here in my suit so we can stay close to her in case she wakes up.”“Good, I don’t want to be too far away right now. I never know when a vision is going to hit her anymore.”“I’ll make some breakfast for everyone,” says Mark’s mate, Daniela.Mark and Daniela have their hands full with three kiddos running around the house. One of their sons is actually their nephew they are ra
Maliyah I stare at my clock as the minutes slowly go by. I’ve been up for hours and my family has been meeting since like six. I can hear them talking about and I know they are worried about me. These visions have been awful and this was the worst one yet. I finally sit up, knowing I need to get out of this bed. I feel bad for ignoring my siblings this morning. I don’t really know what happened after I blacked out with the hunter on top of me. I shutter thinking about what lies before me in the future. What’s worse is I know the exact date of this happening and it feels like I am just going to count down the days. I head to the bathroom attached to this bedroom and take a much needed long, hot shower. I decide I need to perk up and stop wallowing in something that hasn’t even occurred yet. It’s months away and I don’t need to make everyone else mis
MaliyahI love coming to visit the elf realm. The castle was built in the forest without destroying any trees. In the middle of the castle is a beautiful flower garden that I love to visit. I feel most connected to nature here in this realm and it makes me to want to never leave.“Welcome home Ms. Brooks,” says one of the guards at the font door.“Thank you, it’s good to be back,” I reply with a smile.Aspen chuckles as he carries my bags inside and leads me to my room that is connected to his.“Alright, I’ll let you get settled.”“Thanks Aspen.”He kisses my forehead before leaving me to unpack. I don’t get very far when my door bursts open and Ada comes running full speed.“Maliyah!”I catch her just in time as she jumps into my arm
MaliyahAs usual I wake up before dawn from my nightmare, but at least the screaming has stopped. I hate waking others up over a nightmare. It’s really cruel to have to relive my sister’s death over and over for the past six years. The only time I can get a good nights rest is if I have Dimitri spell me to sleep, but he said it’s not good for the mind to not heal from it’s trauma so he doesn’t do it often.Normally I loath getting up so early cause I can never get back to sleep, but today I don’t mind. I am standing on the balcony attached to my room, drinking some coffee the kitchen staff kindly made for me. I’ve been sitting here for the past hour just listening to nature as the sun rises. There is an easel set up here with plenty of paint, but all I have done is stare at it. I haven’t painted since the war ended. I just haven’t had the inspiration, but somet
MaliyahI know King Bjarki and Aspen will not be happy I returned without my guards, but they did quickly follow me. Castle staff were alerted to my return and offered me some tea, which I happily accepted. I return to my balcony and get comfy on my wicker patio daybed. I pull the sunshade canopy up, sipping my tea as the conversation plays in my head over and over.I wonder who else knows about this, if it’s even true. Does Aspen even know? Could they have been talking about my biological father, Enzo? But that can’t be right, he wasn’t a lycan and he wasn’t related to dad. I can hear my door open and close, making me let out a sigh. I knew Aspen would arrive eventually.“You heard didn’t you?”I whip my head up at him so fast. It hurts me a bit more that he knew this whole time and didn’t tell me.“Who are they talking about?”&ldqu
Maliyah“Maliyah, I’m sorry about last night,” says King Bjarki.“It’s okay, you didn’t know she was going to challenge me,” I reply as I throw my hair up in a pony tail. It’s been crazy busy all morning with elves tearing down the dance floor outside and preparing the training grounds. King Bjarki has been upset with himself and I’ve been trying to comfort him.“You are a guest here and this kind of disrespect is unacceptable. I can stop the challenge,” says King Bjarki.“No don’t do that. I will never earn your people’s respect if I let you do that.”King Bjarki smiles at me and nods his head. I know he has come to love me like his second daughter and I have come to love him as a second father.“Well you be careful, you are awar

Maliyah“Push my queen,” encourages the doctor, making me want to strangle him. It’s been five years since I married Aspen and became queen of the elves. There were many bumps along the way but in the end the crown has been passed down to Aspen. Aspen wanted kids right away but I convinced him to wait while we get things settled with the changes we wanted to make. I know it was a big change to having an outsider become queen of the elves. It has never happened before and there were a few not on board with the idea at first, but in the end I won them over.Being queen of the elves is definitely a lot of work, but I don’t think I would have it any other way. I love the people and I love implementing my ideas to improve things around here. Being that our species have now been intertwined some of the dragons requested to move back to the elf realm. Of course Aspen immediately appr
AspenMy heart is beating so loudly that my ears are ringing. Everyone is turned to look towards the end of the aisle as Accalia and Ada walk down together, tossing rose petals on the ground. They are wearing beautiful floor length dresses, I believe Maliyah called them maxi dresses. Around the waist are decorative jewels that shimmer in the sunlight just like Maliyah’s hair. After the girls reach me, Thierry and Aiden walk down the aisle as the ring bearers. I can tell Thierry is not happy in his tuxedo with the bow tie as he pulls at several times. By the look I can see on Davina’s face, she is mind linking him to stop pulling at his bow tie. We opted to have no groomsman or bridesmaids so once the boys reached me, the wedding march begins.Everyone stands and Maliyah appears at the end of the aisle with her arm laced in her father’
MaliyahOnce everyone had heard I was engaged mom had kept me busy. There was never ending decisions regarding what to serve at the reception, what kinds of flowers are to be arranged on the tables, what the bridesmaid dresses will look like and the flower girl dresses. It was a never ending list. When I thought I had everything in order mom comes at me with a new question. I never knew that picking out the color of the napkins would be so important. We decide to have the wedding here in my pack and then have the crowning ceremony in the elf realm. Everyone has been invited and when I say everybody, I mean everybody. All the other shifter packs will be there and an invitation to the crowning ceremony has been extended as well. I really wanted something small, but marrying into the royal family won’t allow for such a luxury.Today I am up earlier
MaliyahWhen I awaken, I find that it is dusk and the fireflies have begun to dance among the flowers. I look up and see Aspen staring me with nothing but pure love in his eyes. He sits us up and brushes a piece of hair out of my face. Just when I think he is going to kiss me he pulls away, leaving me a bit confused.“Did I do something wrong?”“You have done absolutely nothing wrong Maliyah.”“Then what’s wrong?”I can hear his heartbeat pick up as he paces back and forth in the grass while I sit patiently, waiting for him to come over his nerves. He suddenly stops and kneels down next to me, taking my hands in his.“Maliyah, I love you more than words can describe. I have fallen in love with a beautiful, talented, patient woman and I am honored you have found me deserving of your love back. We have been through many hurdles and we have overcome each and every one of them togethe
MaliyahThe minute Dr. Smith alerted my family I was awake they immediately teleported to the hospital. I knew the moment they were in the hospital as I could hear Accalia’s voice from down the hall.“Maliyah!”Accalia bursts through the door with tears in her eyes and jumps into the bed with me, crushing me with all the strength she can muster.“You took forever to wake up,” she says through tears.“I know, I’m sorry to worry you. I’m okay, I promise.”I look up and find Aiden and Thierry unsure of what to do. I wave them over to join us and they too begin crushing me further in a group hug. I wince a bit but it’s a good pain.“Easy their kids,” says dad as he kisses the top of head.He moves out of the way and mom hugs me just as tight as my siblings.
Aspen“Still nothing,” asks Davina as she drops in for her daily visit.Every time I see her she looks more and more tired. I know she is not sleeping well the more days that pass and Maliyah still doesn’t wake. My father worries as well. He has urged me a few times to return home but I refuse to leave this realm until she wakens.“I’m sorry Davina. She hasn’t even twitched a finger.”Davina sighs and moves to the vase next to Maliyah’s bed, placing her hands on the flowers as her eyes glow their beautiful green. The color returns to the flowers as they bloom again. I rise from my seat, allowing Davina time alone with her daughter. As I am about to leave a nurse walks in with a bowl of warm water and a rag.“I’ll take care of,” says Davina and the nurse smiles and hands her the bowl.
MaliyahI’ve been siting here in the dark, in the fetal position, for who knows how long. I failed. I didn’t trust my true mate, I got Accalia killed and I am sure I died. I let Luca trick me even though I knew deep down not to trust him. That tiny bit of doubt I had I ignored and I can’t fix it. Just as I have given up on everything I feel something nuzzle my back.‘Don’t give up child,’ I hear through the mind link.I turn and find a silver dragon staring down at me. I know instantly it’s Ryuu.‘Am I dead?’‘Not unless you choose to be,’ he replies as he turns to walk away.I get up and follow him as a white light appears in front of us. As we get close the white light surrounds me and I find myself in the Serene Meadow. Ryuu stops and lays down the river where I f
MaliyahI let the vines go slack as it’s beginning to be too difficult to use my powers as hunters begin to attack. I am tired and Terra has used all our energy into healing my hand. Terra urges me to shift into our dragon form and I oblige, thankful that I am not too big for the room. Instantly my missing limb reappears. I must’ve been able to heal faster since I don’t have a seal on me like mom did. “Kill the dragon,” I hear from the doorway and look to find the leader, Charlie standing behind his men like a coward.I position myself in front of Accalia and shift into my wolf so I can more easily move around. I notice Accalia as the dagger in her hands.‘Accalia, smash the jewels,’ I urged her through the mind link as I sink my teeth into a hunter.‘I&he
