45. Dream

“All the ingredients are gathered.” Marco commented after he took out all the groceries from his bag. He planned to cook pasta tonight for dinner. It turned out that he had cooking skills, even better than Caterina.

Unlike Leonardo, whose parents were also mobsters, Marco was a child who grew up without parents. He and his sister grew up on the streets. He did everything he could to make his sister happy. Even willing to work since he was a teenager to pay for his sister's school fees.

Rossie has a great desire to go to school. Her dream since she was a child was to become a doctor. Her father and mother died of illness, so she didn't want to lose the only sibling she had. “So, what are your goals?” Caterina asked as she helped Marco prepare the pasta ingredients.

They had discussed this matter yesterday. Marco told Caterina all about it. It made Caterina feel even more touched and more convinced that Marco was indeed much better than Leonardo.

Marco talked more about his sister; it was obvious that he loved Rossie very much. He was fiery when he told me about Rossie's struggle to go to school and study medicine. They were not smart and did not excel in their studies. When Rossie managed to complete her studies in a short time, Marco was very proud of her.

Caterina, on the other hand, never went to school. She was home-schooled from a young age, her father being her only teacher. She was familiar with medicine from a young age, so she became an expert when she grew up. She never had a diploma; she made a fake one when she worked at the hospital. Because she was so reliable and skilled in the medical field, the hospital never suspected anything. Moreover, all the patients and patients' families liked him very much.

Marco laughed slightly, “I don't know what I want to be. Since I was little, all I knew was that I wanted Rossie to be happy. Seeing the smile on her lips already makes me satisfied.” Marco replied as he started cooking.

Caterina listened intently.

“What about you? You said that being a doctor wasn't your dream since you were a child, right?” Marco asked back.

Caterina smiled a little. She had never been given a choice. Ever since she was a child, everything about her had been decided by her father. She had even been groomed to be Dante's replacement doctor at La Vendetta since she was still in the womb. She never thought about what she wanted to be. Her life was full of stress since she was a child.

“Sometimes I think being a model is cool.” Caterina said with an unknown feeling. She couldn't call that her goal because she dared not dream. It was too late to start.

“I think you deserve to be a model. You're pretty; you have a certain charm.” Marco commented honestly.

Caterina did have an unusual beauty. If she wanted to become a model, it would be easy for her. Her body was beautiful; her face was perfectly sculpted. Her blonde hair also looked very attractive.

“You don't need to praise me just to make me feel good.” Caterina smiled embarrassedly.

“I'm not complimenting you; I'm just stating the facts.” Marco straightened.

The sound of footsteps came from behind, accompanied by the sound of sticks hitting the floor. Caterina turned around and saw her father trudging towards them. It had been a month, but her father's foot condition had not improved. Caterina was quite worried because of this. This was because she would start her revenge after her father's leg had fully recovered. She could not rest easy leaving her father in this condition.

Caterina turned around; she stepped towards her father and helped him to walk towards the dining table.

“Dad, I don't think your leg is making any progress. Your bones should have started to fuse back together, although not completely.” Caterina told her father about the worries in her heart.

Marco, who heard that sentence, felt anxious. He was afraid that Caterina would find out that the doctor he had hired to treat Dante had asked him to slow down his recovery. At first he did it to stop Dante from taking Caterina away. But now he's doing it to keep Caterina by his side. If Dante's leg healed and they went into action for revenge, his closeness with Caterina might end. He didn't want their relationship to end after the revenge was over.

"Yes, I also feel that there is something strange about the doctor's treatment method." Dante confirmed Caterina's concerns. "But he is Marco's chosen doctor; Marco must have looked for the best doctor in this city. He is very kind." However, he brushed off his setbacks afterward.

Marco took a harsh breath. He tried to continue to calm himself normally.

"You go back there and help Marco to cook. "We've been accommodated to live here; don't make it difficult for him by having to cook for you." Dante reminded.

Caterina nodded slowly, then returned to the kitchen to help Marco cook.

They cook continuously until the dish is finished and ready to be served. There were three plates of pasta on the dining table, and they enjoyed it together. Marco likes situations like this. They are like a happy little family. At the dining table, the three of them could be heard laughing.

Marco prayed in his chest; he asked that this kind of happiness last for a long time. He love the warmth that Caterina and Dante provide. The figure of Dante has cured his longing for the presence of a father.

Marco looked at Caterina deeply. Now a hope begins to arise; he wants his Caterina to be his.
