She looked down at him as the memory of his wet hair and exposed body stayed glued in her mind. She closed her eyes and opened them, hoping to have somehow done a reset on her brain, but it did not work for her; she was still very much haunted by his image. He diverted her gaze from his face; maybe it would be a good way for her mind to finally work and it seemed to work. As long as she did not look at him, then she was sure it would be okay.
"I guess your idea is okay," she shrugged as she kept on doing her best to look everywhere aside from him. She hoped he did not notice how she was acting towards him, and if he noticed, she hoped he would ignore it as if it were nothing.
"My idea?"
"Yes"
"My idea of going on a real honeymoon?" She expected him to go all out on her and make a big deal about how she was going to settle for his idea after insisting that there was something else that could be done.
"Yeah, your idea," she replied. She had nothing to gain by acting almighty now. She should have just agreed with him in the first place instead of dragging it out like this.
"Okay then, I guess since we agree that this will solve the problem at hand, then we should do it," he said, putting his hand in the pocket of his trousers.
"That is it?" The words left her mouth in shock. She had expected him to make a big deal from it but he seemed to be okay with the fact that she had acted out for it.
"Is there something I am missing?" He seemed genuinely confused and she shook her head.
"Nothing else, I guess," she had to admit that he was very more mature than she was. If the roles were reserved, she would make sure he never heard the end of it. She would bring it up at every chance she got.
"If we have agreed now, then I suggest that we both go in and get our bags ready."
"Are we going to be leaving immediately?" She did not expect him to respond so quickly.
"I would suggest we do so, and maybe we can expose it a bit to just make sure that people see us going together to the airport and how we take off and all. I will reach out to a reporter friend of mine who would help us," she said. She looked at him and wondered why he always let rumours of himself linger in the air when he seemed to know very well how to take care of situations like this.
"Why are you looking at me like that? Did I say anything wrong?" He stopped when her gaze became somewhat uncomfortable.
"I am curious, and my mind is spinning out of control from trying to make sense of the situation."
"I thought we agreed, and that is why I am..."
"Not about that," she said, shaking her head, and his eyebrow went up in a questioning manner. She heard the question loud and clear without him having to say it out loud. "You seem to be good at covering up rumours, but..." she trailed off because she was not sure if it was right for her to be asking him this.
"You want to know why I usually let my rumours linger in the air?" he asked, knowing that was what she was driving at. A faint smile appeared on his lips and was then replaced with a frown. "No reason"
She wanted to tell him how that was not a good answer, but if she was being honest, it was really none of her business at this point. She cleared her throat and smirked faintly as well. "I guess each to his own; I just have to stress that on this honeymoon we are still bound by the contract; we aren't going to act out of character," she stressed.
"I understand what you mean," he nodded, and even though she wanted to keep talking, she knew it would be overbearing to him to hear her go on and on.
"I will go up now to pack up my bags, and you should do the same."
"I will after I get coffee," he replied and walked away. She sighed as she could to believe that this was how it turned out. She walked to her room and plugged her ears with her headphones. She listened to music as she began to pack a bag. He had just offloaded her bags, and now she was already packing a new one.
She suddenly turned in her room only to see Levi standing by the door with a soft gaze at her. She let out a strained scream as she yanked off the headset from her head and stared at him. "What the f**k? Why would you sneak up on me like that?" she asked, dropping the headset to the bed and retaining her gaze on him.
"I am sorry, I knocked, but you did not respond, so I assumed you did not hear me knock."
"And so you let yourself in?" She was surprised that was his answer to her. "Whatever," she waved it off. "What are you doing here?"
"Our parents are here."
"Our parents?"
"Yes, our," he stressed the last word with a straight face. "Yours and mine.”
