2025-04-21 23:41:30Lila did not have the luxury to think about his body as she did yesterday. She was trying to come up with a better idea than the one he had. They could not go on a real honeymoon. If she had married someone else, she might have considered it, but Levi Beaumont? They were not compatible in any way and even worse, they were enemies.
She had always wanted to get married to a man she loved and one who loved her back but she knew it was very close to impossible with her family. After the marriage with Levi ended, her father would try to fix her into another marriage immediately. She did not need to be told all of these things; she knew it without thinking too much of it.
She wanted to get married and go on a proper honeymoon where she would love on her husband as much as he would do for her but now it was impossible anyway; however, she could not still bring herself to think of going on a trip with him. Only the two of them together? She might end up being convicted of murder.
"I need to think harder," she said when it seemed like as much as she tried to think, the more her mind drew up blank. Her phone rang and for a moment she felt as if her spirit had jumped out of her skin. She looked at her screen as slowly as she could and let out a sigh of relief when she saw that it was Elizabeth calling her.
"Eli," she exclaimed as soon as she placed the phone to her ears.
"Lila, what's happening?" Elizabeth had to know to help her out. Lila knew that her sister would help her come up with a solution to the problem as soon as she heard the entire story. Lila did not like the fact that her sister did not ask for her well-being first but the image of the family was probably more important to her at that time.
"After I got off the phone with you yesterday, I had an encounter with Levi and I kind of told him that I felt a bit suffocated so he suggested that we go out dressed in disguises so we could get some air and I felt better. I thought we were being discreet enough but someone seemed to take a picture of us in that moment," Lila explained. It was useless to hide anything from her sister.
"So what do you both want to do now?" Elizabeth asked. Elizabeth was one of the few women who wanted to solve a problem as soon as it presented itself to her.
"I have no idea; I have been thinking but nothing is coming up in my mind," Lila confessed.
"I have to ask though. I thought you hated him; how did you both get to talk and how did he convince you to go out? What were you both thinking?" Usually, Elizabeth would have solved the problem before chewing her out but it seemed as if she got the order all wrong that morning.
"I have no idea how this happened; he claimed to have done this many times without getting caught so I thought it would be okay," Lila confessed. "I felt better when I left the house so..."
"You can't be selfish," Elizabeth said. Lila wondered if she was selfish because, aside from her dad's dream to be a part of the Skyline project, she had gotten married to Levi. What else does she have to give up for the sake of her family?
"I am sorry," she said instead of all the thoughts she had in her mind.
"Well, what is Levi saying or doing about this?"
"He said we should go on a real honeymoon."
"A real honeymoon?"
"Yeah"
"I think that is a very good idea," Elizabeth exclaimed.
"Eli, you have to slow down; how can we go on our honeymoon?"
"Have you been able to come up with a better solution?" Her sister's voice was tired. Lila knew that her mom must have called Elizabeth up and asked her to make sure that she got the mess sorted out.
"I haven't, but I think if you give me a few more hours, I probably can."
"A few more hours?" Elizabeth asked as if her sister had asked the most difficult thing in the world. "You do not have a few hours; time is of the essence here."
Lila understood what she was saying, but still, she did not want to have to do this. "I can not..."
"It's not real; you just need to fly out of the country and then all will get reset. Once you fly out, both families will release a statement that you decided to deal with your honeymoon because you wanted to avoid being stressed." Elizabeth seemed to have come up with a perfect solution on the spot. Lila knew that she could not keep resisting it any longer, so she sighed and nodded to herself.
"I guess there is no escaping it now," she muttered.
"I am glad we are on the same page; I have got to go. I will check on you later."

Lila took a deep breath as she put her hand on the handle. She knew that there would be tonnes of chaos going on behind closed doors.
