Lila went back to the room and bade her father farewell before she left for the manor. She wondered how her life with Levi and her family was going to be. Her mother had to stay with her dad in the hospital, and her sisters were in their own homes, which left her alone in the house with nothing to do. She knew that her mother would frown on her having her cousins or friends over, so she was left to her thoughts all by herself. Since the honeymoon period was still extended, they could not go back to work just yet.

By the time she got into the room that night, Levi had chosen a side of the bed and was already sound asleep. She did not want to bother him, so she silently got changed and slipped into bed. She fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow, and her eyes only came open by the next morning.

Levi had told her that he was a morning bird, and she was not surprised that he was not in bed when she woke up. She did her morning routine and went down to get something to eat. The staff informed her that Levi had already eaten, and she could eat alone. She was not going to ask, but she nodded at the information; at least they needed to keep up the appearance in front of the staff as well.

She knew that if her mother were at home, they would not have been able to do what they did; eating at separate times was a criminal offence. She had a strict schedule that must be followed. When she was working, she was sure to make it back in time for dinner, and she had to be up early enough for breakfast. No matter how urgent it seemed to be, no one could step out without breakfast. She told herself to enjoy the freedom while it lasted because in a few days it would be all different.

She decided to move from room to room, fully checking out the house; she had never really lived in it. When she was younger, her mother made sure that no one went into the chambers as they were preserving them. She never understood what exactly it was that they were preserving it for. "Well, I guess it was for me," she murmured as she closed one of the doors.

She moved through the chamber as her mind wandered to her childhood. As soon as she was ten, she was shipped off to a boarding school, and when the holidays came, she stayed at her grandmother's place with her sisters. After high school she immediately went to college, and when she was back, she was thrown into a series of jobs that she did not even get a chance to see the house for herself. She stepped out of the chamber and followed a path that led to something that looked like a resting area. She sat in one of the chairs and closed her eyes when some voices from a distance caught her attention.

Her eyes shot open because she wondered who it was; the staff were not allowed to be there at this time of the day, and it was only she and Levi allowed up there now. She closed her eyes again, thinking that her mind was the one playing pranks on her, but the voices came again. They shot open as she pulled herself up from the couch. She stood up and walked in the direction of the voice.

Standing there was Levi with his back to her. She could tell his hand was in his pocket and the other one was supporting the phone to his ear.

"This is wrong on all levels. I told you this before, and I am saying it again, but it seems like I am nagging," he said in an angry tone to whoever it was on the other side of the phone. She wondered who he was talking to; she could tell that he was angry by his back. She wondered who he was talking to and why he seemed so angry. She wondered if it was his parents; after all, they were both in this situation because of their parents.

"Just get this done now," he said and cut off the call, yanking it from his ear angrily and putting both hands on his waist. She walked to him gently, as she did not want him to think she had been eavesdropping. Once she was a few steps away from him, she cleared her throat, and he turned to face her.

"When did you get here?" he asked. Maybe he was embarrassed, but she could not read the expression on his face or what it meant.

"Just now," she pointed in the direction she had come from as if that was not where he had come from as well. "What are you doing here?" she asked, trying to carry on the conversation.

"I was exploring the place, and I..." he trailed off as he could not really explain how he had come there. He was in search of a quiet place for his call.

She scoffed and crossed her hand over her chest. "What on earth is that supposed to mean?" Levi looked at her, and her face was screaming a demand for an apology. "Well, explain?" she said when he stayed quiet, rubbing his lips together."One moment you are cold as ice, and the other moment you are very hot. PLACE: CARRINGTON'S MANSIONTIME: SUNDAY 6:45 PM"Everyone, listen up," William said from the head of the table, tapping the edge slightly to catch the attention of everyone. Williams was a family man, and for that reason, he had the entire family back at his mansion every Sunday for dinner to get away. That way, they could discuss and gloss over the events of the week and give each other updates. After dinner every night, the men got together and watched a sport regardless of what was airing at that time. They all seemed to enjoy the time together. The older women would go out to the balcony and have tea while talking; they called it talking, but everyone knew very well that it was gossip. The younger girls would cluster in Lila's room and try to really catch up on what had been going on. Everyone raises their head to William at the head of the table. He dropped his spoon to his plate and propped his elbow on the table so he could intertwine his fingers. Seeing his posture, everyon

LOCATION: BEAUMONT MANSION TIME: SUNDAY 8 PM"You are asking me Levi Beaumont to get married to Lila Carrington?" Levi asked for the tenth time in just a few minutes. He was standing in his dad's home office. Daniel was sitting behind a huge wooden table, and Levi was standing across from it. He had been called in by his father to give him some news. When his father asked him to come into the office after dinner, he expected anything else, but this was not on his bingo cards, and he was sure that he must have heard it all wrong. There was no way his father, Daniel Beaumont, who was the chairman of the Beaumont group, was asking him to marry a Carrington. "Dad, Beaumont's and Carrington's do not mix; they have nerve mixed for one day," Levi said before his father could say anything. Daniel took off his glasses and let them hang from his neck with the glasses rope, dangling it gently in the air. "They have never mixed for six generations." "Exactly, so I am confused as to what you

LOCATION: CARRINGTON'S MANSIONTIME: SUNDAY DINNER TIME"Sit back down this instant," William commanded. She looked around at the faces of the people she shared the table with, and she could tell that they were all telling one thing, and that was that she better sit down at once. She swallowed and sat down, facing her father. In as much as she always tried her best to obey him, she was not going to let him have his way this time around. This was not going to be in her favour in any way, and she could not just knowingly walk into it. "You would listen to me, and you would do what I say," he added. She shook her head at him. "Lila, listen to your father," Eleanor said. "But mom..." Lila whined. She could not believe how easily her mother had switched sides. She was just definitely on her side a moment ago, but all of a sudden she was telling her to bow her head and listen to her father because apparently, he was the one who had the final say. "There is no but here. I think it would

"How can Dad think to do this to me? This is very unfair," Lila said, pacing the entire floor of her room. The diner finished earlier than they would expect because of the awfulness. Amelia and Sophia were next in her room. If this was last week Sunday, they would have gossiped till midnight, and then everyone would have gone back home in preparation for the next day, but since the situation was different, Lila seemed to be the one in need at that time. "Why did you try to drag me into this?" Amelia asked lazily as she dropped to the bed, her head on Elizabeth's lap. Elizabeth ran her hand through her hair gently, which made her even more sleepy."Because none of you have thought of trying to help me out. This is a contract marriage, yet he is celebrating it as if they were getting married for real," Elizabeth murmured to her sister. "I know right, he sure does not like to lose in something," Victoria replied as they walked to the bridal suite, where their sister was now sitting and waiting for them to call her so she could walk down the island and get stuck in the marriage of her nightmares. They opened the door and walked straight into the room; they turned a corner, and Lila was sitting there with her bouquet in hand. "Oh my gosh!" Victoria was excited, clapping her hand in the air. "Oh my days!" she added in excitement. "Do you think you are a little too excited about a fake marriage?" Lial asked watching her sister really get excited. "Why are you excited anyway?" "I mean, I have always imagined what you would look like in a dress as pretty as this," she said with tears falling in between he

"You may kiss the bride." Lila took a double take at the priest; she definitely remembered telling him to take out that part. She was getting married to him, but there was no way she would be doing anything intimate with him."Come on, sweetheart." She saw Levi's expression and could tell that this was his doing. How dare he think of doing something like this? She turned to the priest and smiled forcefully at him with gritty teeth. "I told you to take out this part.""Your husband asked me to leave it in."She turned back to him, ready to rain hell on him. She looked at the congregation, waiting for them to kiss. She knew that anything she did now would be remembered for a long time, and all of these people seated in the church on a Saturday afternoon were there just to know if the two families had gotten together. She pressed her lips and leaned into him.He held her by the waist and pulled her in. "I am going to kill you," she murmured against his lips."How can we make this believa

“Why would you come here? You are supposed to be at your husband's house,” William said when he saw his daughter sit in the living room with them.”Do you want people to gossip? You should go home.” Lial rolled her eyes at him. She wanted to tell him that she had come to get a few things, but she kept that to herself as she wanted to have a more serious conversation with him instead. It had been a long day for them, especially considering that they had been on their feet all day, lying as much as they could and trying their best to convince everyone about the marriage. The rest of the family had all retired to their own houses since it was already late at night. Lila and Levi had agreed to go to their homes and then meet up at their new house later in the night. Lila did not care about the house they lived in since she was not interested in getting married to him, so Levi did the research and got the house for them. She was only going to get the address and show up with a suitcase.

Lila left the room after a while. She was feeling overwhelmed and seeing her father like that was not great for her either. She took a stroll, finding the coffee shop in the hospital She was grateful for it as she felt tired and needed something to keep her awake. She ordered some black coffee and sat down to sip on the coffee while watching the doctors and patients walk around the place. She had been still for a long time, just occasionally filling her mouth with the warm, bitter liquid. After a while, she felt someone sit beside her, and she could tell it was a familiar presence. She looked, and it was her mom sitting close to her. She mentally prepared herself for whatever it was that her mouth was about to say. "Are you okay?" Eleanor asked, Lila slowed and turned her head to her with a confused expression. There was no doubt that her mom loved her, but the way she acted every time was something she could not wrap her mind around. "Yes, Mom," she replied. She had to admit that

As Lila showed Levi around the house, she could not help but get this chilly feeling from him. She wanted to ask him questions, but she was not sure what kind would be appropriate for him, so she kept them all to herself. After they had identified the room they would have to stay in, she turned to him."Are you sure this would be okay? We can tell my mom that this won't work and go back to the house, where we would have separate rooms.""It's fine," he said as if they were in an argument."I might be wrong, but I get a feeling that you are mad at me. Did I do something wrong?" She asked, trying to cast her mind back to when she started feeling the coldness from him, but nothing stood out to her."Nothing," he said like a child who was sulking about being denied some candy. Suddenly, it clicked in her mind that he was probably missing Fiona after all; they had to leave so quickly that they had no chance to say goodbyes. Knowing that was why he was all moody was hurtful to her, but she

"It's impossible," Lila shook her head; it made no sense for her mom to ask her to move in with them. She was planning on keeping all the distance with her parents until the one year elapsed. Her plan was simple, and now her mom had somehow found out the plan and was ready to ruin it."That's what I said, but the bags," Elizabeth said as their eyes followed the staff carrying them in. Lila knew that asking them to stop was pointless; if she wanted to change anything, she needed to speak to her mom first, and then they could take the bags back to the car for her. "What are you going to do about it?" Elizabeth asked because she knew how difficult it was to resist their mom; she was persuasive and could get you to do anything she wanted to."Don't worry," Lila said, shaking her head. She did not have a plan, but she was sure that there was no way they would end up staying there. There was enough room to house about three families comfortably, but still she could not bring herself to thin

Although Eleanor had given Lila and Levi a week more to stay, she called them to hurry back. A private jet was sent to bring them back to the city. Lila wondered what could be wrong and the reason why they had to hurry back. She felt a bad feeling in her gut, but knowing that her mom was a straightforward person and would tell her if something was wrong immediately, she knew that her mom probably changed her mind after sleeping on it all night.Levi had agreed to leave the island as well without asking any questions. Lila could not understand why he acted that way. If she were the one on the receiving end, she would have asked a ton of questions that might send the other party into frustration. He packed up his bags and was ready to leave for the airport before she could do the same. They left the hotel and headed to the airport for the plane ride. Levi was quiet, and Lila could not understand it because they had agreed to be friends, but he seemed cold to her. Maybe she had misunders

Although Levi had told her to rest up, she could not bring her mind to do that; she needed to know what he was going to do and how he was going to do it. She also wanted to know how her father was, but she knew that calling him or her mother was pointless as Eleanor would refuse to tell her anything. She knew that her sisters were the only way to go and since Elizabeth was more mature, she was the one she decided to call first. Elizabeth did not pick up so she tried to call Victoria and it was the same case. She concluded that they were probably in the hospital and they did not want to pick it up in front of their parents. She kept on thinking of how she had ruined her father’s dream of getting Skyline just because she wanted to feel comfortable. Her father’s words rang in her mind as she paced in front of the bed. ‘You can sacrifice a little comfort for great gain,’ he always said to her, and she could see that it was true. She should have never been considered enough to turn down

As soon as Lila walked into the room, Levi could tell that she was not the same woman he had left behind. Something must have happened. She looked sad and angry at the same time. She did not acknowledge his presence; instead, she moved to one of the couches and sat silently. Levi wanted to ask her what was troubling her, but he was not sure if she would appreciate the efforts or even tell him what was wrong. He waited a few minutes for her to come forward by herself to tell him what was wrong but nothing happened, leaving of her to speak She sat still, looking ahead. "Lila?" he called because the silence was killing him. They had just resolved their differences and agreed to be friends, and that meant they could rely on each other. She slowly turned to him with her eyes sad and wet. He moved closer to her and bent so they were on the same level. "Are you okay?" he asked. She opened her mouth to respond to his question, but the words never got out of her mouth, and tears flowed down

A woman came to address all of the couples who had shown up. After speaking at length, she asked them all to come back the next day, as that was when the competition was going to begin. After that, she disappeared, and the room began to clear out. Weaving through the crowd, both of them found their way out of the place."I can not believe that I am doing something like this," Levi said as they walked to the elevator."We already wrote down our name and attended the first meeting. I don't think there is any need to not believe it anymore," Lila responded. She also could not believe that she had willingly tried to put herself in the eye of the public but all she could think of was the prize attached to this. Her phone began ringing in her hand, and somehow she feared it was her mom. She looked at the screen and felt a burning, bitter sensation rise up her stomach as she stared at it. It was her mom, and she never once had a good conversation with her mom over the phone. It was always so
