Chapter 1
Stepping inAll of the Barbara’s men were around Bria's condo. They were all cleaning the crime that happened inside. Wiping my twin sister's blood and carrying the body of Bria out of the room. They were making sure that no one gets to know what happened yet, concealing the truth.“My goodness,” it was my mother, Britney Barbara.“Who did this to our daughter? Who?!”I heard how my father screamed in overflowing pain in his chest. I was on the floor with my knees folded. My eyes were glued to the floor where I saw my twin die. It was already immaculate as if no one died there. But then, Bria's picture lying on the floor covered with her own blood was all I could see. I was trembling and I felt how cold my entire body was. My hands were crumpled like pieces of paper.“Briana,” my mother blocked my eyesight as she knelt in front of me and cupped my face softly. I couldn't move. I couldn't process everything that happened. The tears coming out of my eyes couldn't even stop for a second.“What happened, huh? What happened to your twin?” She asked with her voice shattering with the same pain we have.I cried in front of her. When was the last time I cried? It was when I failed my exam during highschool and Bria was there to comfort me. She became my crying shoulders. Among the two of us, it was her who stood up as the oldest when we just came out of my mother's womb together. Bria was always the understanding one and the obedient one. While me, I was always the black sheep and the stubborn one who just wanted to do everything by myself. Now that I am crying again, whom can I cry on? When my crying shoulder was taken away from me.I felt like I didn't just lose my twin; I also lost a friend.I shook my head while crying in silence in front of my Mom. I can feel a hammer smashing my chest repeatedly. I was bleeding so much and all I could do was cry a river.“I don't k-know,” I uttered. “W-When I arrived here…s-she’s already…” I sobbed with my messy head. “She's already on the floor, covered with blood…”My Mom quickly embraced me tightly. Pain, sorrows, hatred and rage. These emotions were sinking out of me.“Excuse me, sir. We checked the CCTV. It seems like it was turned off when the incident happened. It only came back when Ms. Briana arrived,” one of our men discussed it with my father.“We have to leave here,” he said only with a firm voice. That day, no one gets to know what happened. My family cleaned everything and made sure not to leave a footprint behind us. My entire clan found out that my twin just died.Kirsten's POV“Is she scheduled for gown fitting today?” Alora Williams, Theodore Willams mother. They were in my shop today for Bria's gown fitting. The huge problem is, Bria isn't here yet. She was the one who asked me to design her gown and everything and yet she's not showing up, leaving me alone with pressure!“Yes, Mrs. Williams.” I replied and even gave them my schedule for the whole month.“Why is she not here yet? It's been an hour,” Mrs. Williams said with a glimpse of dismay and disappointment.“Maybe she's on her way? I'll try to call her,” I said, keeping that polite smile towards them to save Bria's reputation. Theodore Williams who was nonchalantly sitting on the couch didn't escape my eyes. His eyes were closed when her bride wasn't showing up.“Oh, she messaged me. She said she won't be able to go today, they have an emergency.” I said and showed them her message on her phone. How can't she come? She's ruining her image to them.“What? This is a waste of time, then.” Her husband said. All I could do was to flash my polite smile in front of them. Good thing that Briana is not here to visit me. I didn't tell her that I was chosen to design her twin's wedding gown.“Where are you going, Theodore?” Her mother asked when he just stood up and was about to leave my place.“Going back to work? The bride isn't here,” he shrugged coldly before he left.“Goodness,” they both followed their son's eyes and I was left watching them outside arguing in distress. That man looks uninterested in Bria. How can they even make their marriage work?Poor Bria.Briana's POV“What about her wedding? It will happen in just a few days from now!” My Aunt exclaimed problematically. I can't believe they are still thinking of her marriage instead of her own death. Because until now, everything she said was playing in my head.“A-Avenge me,”“Williams,”I crumpled my hands as I heard her voice again in my head. It was the Williams that she last uttered before she died. Does it mean that one of them killed her?“We don't even know who killed her, Mom.” Freya Barbara, my cousin.“If the world finds out that Bria died, it will be a huge mess in our clan. The Williams will be put in shame and will definitely cut us out,” Adam intervened calmly as he explained that matter.Adam Barbara, another cousin of ours.“What can we do? It's not like we can make Bria live,” my mother said with frustration. This is why I hated the Mafia world. However, at that very moment, I was filled with hatred. That was urging me to dig in because I won't just sit here without finding who killed my twin sister.“Before she died, she told me something.” I finally spoke and meddled. I felt how all their eyes switched at me.“She told me to avenge her,” I said. “And in her last breath, she mentioned the Williams.”“What the fvck?” Freya commented, fuming mad.“Are you telling us that one of the Williams killed her?” My father asked and went closer to me.“Obviously. It was their clan that she mentioned before she died. It means that one of them was behind her death,” Adam explained while they were all starting to think.“What do we do?” My mother asked. For the last time, I crumpled my hands. I breathed heavily, enough for them to hear it loudly.“Hide her death,” I uttered. I was able to capture all their eyes again at me.“What?” My father asked with confusion.“Do not let anyone find out that my twin died,” my voice was firm and I was determined to do everything to catch whoever killed her.“What are you saying?” My mother asked, and couldn't understand what my point was.“I will marry Theodore Williams instead,” that moment, I swallowed my own dignity and sacrificed everything in my life. I eyed all of them with bravery and hatred that led me to do this.“I will pretend to be Bria, marry Theodore Williams and…” I paused as I felt my eyes begin to cry again.“I will find the culprit who killed her,” I added firmly, trembling in anger.“Briana,”“You want me to enter the Mafia world, right?” I asked my mother. I shed tears on my face.“It's time, Mom…I'm stepping in,” I added.Chapter 2 No turning backThey have this saying that when the twins are far and apart from each other, they both feel incomplete, as if half of them is missing. In my case, losing Bria means I won't be complete anymore. Would I become incomplete for the rest of my life ‘til the day I die? That saying was surreal. I never knew that it was actually true. Because right now, I feel totally incomplete. I feel like half of me has been gone ever since Bria died. “My Bria,” my Mom's voice cracked as she cried on my father's chest. All of us were crying while Bria's coffin was being buried slowly. We are all wearing black, grieving and mourning with the pain we all feel. You know what's funny? It was pouring. The sky was painted with gray, invading the entire world with its loneliness. It was so sad and lonely as if the sky was also grieving with our family. I can hear all their sobs and how they were crying aloud. Here I am, watching the men throw and cover my twin's coffin with the soil w
Chapter 3Watch me“You're the most beautiful bride that I ever saw,” the woman said. I can see how enticed she was by looking at me in the mirror. I remained staring at myself as well. It should be Bria who was supposed to be here and not me. How did all of this happen and I ended up replacing her? I was indeed gorgeous and stunning with this expensive wedding gown filled with crystals and diamonds all over it. “You can go now,” I commanded when Kirsten just went inside the room. “That's the gown Bria chose,” she uttered while staring at me. “If you will pretend to be her, you must learn how to smile a lot. You know your twin well more than anyone else.” She suggested and landed her hands on my shoulders. Kirsten never failed to amaze us with all her designs. The gown was amazing and comfortable. It was a tube gown and yet she managed to make it special.“You look gorgeous,” Freya commented as she came inside. There was Adam behind her as well, smoking when he's already wearing hi
Chapter 4Happy wedding Theodore's POV“Your wife seems to be distracted,” I looked at Travis when he suddenly brought that up. My eyes quickly shifted at Bria, the woman I just married. She was still in front, staring at the food on our table. I just left for a while to engage with the visitors because Bria is not yet greeting everybody. He heaved a sigh and continued pouring a drink in his glass. “She has been like that since earlier,” Troy commented beside Travis. “She's in pain,” all of us glanced at Tinker when she mentioned that. She was glancing at Bria in front who hadn't even touched the food. I secretly clenched my jaw. Why am I having this feeling? It's hard to see her like that. We only met once. But I will not deny how her tender smile is already glued in my mind. She might not talk, but her eyes were telling it all. “Well, why are you bothered? It's not like you married each other because you're in love. You married each other for the benefits of our clans,” Tinker
Chapter 5Theodore's POV “Why are you calling? Don't you have a wife?” Travis irritatingly said to me over the phone. I was standing on the balcony of our room but my eyes were pinned to the next room where my wife stayed the whole night. Is she awake or still sleeping? “I just got married yesterday,” I uttered and sighed. “Exactly! It should be your honeymoon with her. Why the hell are you messing with me?” Irritation cannot be hidden from his voice. “You're being obscene. I'm still older than you,” I can't believe I am using that card. It feels good though. I heard how he immediately laughed on the line as if he was gonna lose his mind. “Who cares? Seriously, what the hell is your problem, huh?” He finally asked after complaining for so long. I heaved a sigh and remained my eyes on the balcony of her room. “We fought last night,” I admitted. This is why I hate marriage. I cannot do anything to leave her because for god's sake, we're already tied to each other. “You fought?
PrologueThe WilliamsBriana's POV“I'm sorry, Ms. Briana! I didn't mean to forgot about it. It's just that I am really experiencing depression right now because of my break up with my boyfriend!” The woman was crying a river in front of me.My eyes were closed trying to find peace. But how can I find peace when I am hearing the same old song from this employee of mine? My ears were bleeding by hearing her reason for the third time. “Please give me another chance, Ms. Briana! I promise that I will do it immediately! This is all my fault for n—”“Of course, it's your fault.” I opened my eyes and finally laid my cold eyes at her. I saw how she froze the moment I glanced at her. She looks totally devastated right now. Her eyes were swollen—definitely because of crying to her boyfriend who kept cheating on her. What an idiot. “Who do you think fault is it? Should it be my fault that you're being irresponsible for your job?” I asked sharply. She's already on the verge of losing her job.
