“It’s been so long since I last saw you, right?” Isaid entering the room where the footsteps echoed throughout the room.
I looked up at him with her light blue eyes which sparkled like two gems in the reflection of light.
“Did you miss me?” She asked me in a teasing tone.
“Oh, yes. I really miss you and your annoying face.” I teased her in return.
She narrowed her eyes and pouted “Yes, I felt the same. For me, it’s not only your face, your voice too.”
“I will keep annoying you even if you don’t want me to do the same.” I smiled at her mischievously.
She rolled her eyes “Whatever. What’s the matter?” She asked me in confusion.
“Should there be a reason for me to kidnap you?” I asked her. “What? Kidnap?” She laughed loudly “Do you call this a kidnap, little innocent boy?” she chuckled with her loud voice.
“Don’t call me that. If you do, then I will do what you’ve asked for. I just let you free but I guess I shouldn’t have.” I growled.
She stopped laughing “Try to shut me, if you can.” She challenged me.
I took some steps towards her while she was sitting there on the chair. Everytime I kept a step forward she had to look higher as I seemed like a demon in front of her growing.
My eyes bored into hers as I lifted her chin and she looked up at me with her shiny almond eyes. I leaned in closer, almost close to where just an inch left between us.
I whispered, "You’re playing with fire. Do you even know that?” Into her ears.
“I’m born to play with fire,” She paused. “Like you.”
My eyes widened. “Is that so?” I asked.
“Yes.” She whispered.
“Ah, I forgot what I was going to talk to you about.” I said.
“First tell me where my sister is.” She enquired.
I sighed. “She is safe until you plan to listen to me.” I threatened her.
“What is the matter?” She asked in annoyance. “You like deals, huh?” She nodded as I asked to confirm.
“Do you want to make a deal with me?” I questioned.
“I like deals. Let me hear what it is.” She smiled.
“I know that you’re getting prepared for the new project. If I win the tender this time,” I gave a pause.
“Yes… .?” She wanted me to continue.
“You should quit your job. Is that okay?”
She rested back on the chair keeping hand on her chin giving a thought.
“You didn’t say what you would do if I won the tender. Will you do the same?” She challenged me.
“Sure.” I smiled giving her hand and she held my hand shaking it.
“Deal.” She returned the smile.
“Get ready to quit your business.” I held her hand tightly squeezing it.
Her small and soft hands under my rock-hard like big hands. Cute though.
“Now let me see my sister.” She requested me.
“Wait, what’s the rush? Her name is Evelyn Garcia, right?” I inquired.
“What? What do you mean?”
“Her name is Evelyn Garcia right?”
“Why? What did you do to my sister?”
“Is she younger than you? Or older?”
“Tell me!” She shouted.
"Relax. I’m not going to take her away from you.” My tone was as cool as ice.
“Are you threatening me?” She panicked.
“Clever girl.” I smirked.
“YOU FUCKING IDIOT!” She cursed.
I kept a finger on her lips. “Shh. You shouldn’t curse me like that, lil’ one.” I chuckled, enjoying her panic.
“Where is she?” She started to scream and tears fell down from her eyes.
“Calm down, I will be back sometime.” I walked out of the door.
“Are you trying to escape from me?” She screamed.
Some kind of anger raged in me and I– again entered the room keeping big steps to grab her throat to make her suffer getting enough of air.
“Do you want to die too early at this age?” I asked her as my eyes darkened.
“I might die maybe but never in your hands.” She said it very confidently.
I tightened my grip on her throat and she started to choke out of oxygen. I didn’t want it to be complicated so I released my hand.
“See you later.” I left the room.
“Help me! Please.” She shouted and it echoed in my ears.
___
I went forward to see her holding a small piece of rock and was about to loosen her grip from it. I rushed to her and she saw me. She had got some confidence after seeing me and thought I came there to help me.
I hid in my father’s car when I was playing ‘hide & seek’ with my friends but to my shock someone started the car and it was really a tough drive. I got down from the car to see men following behind a small girl who was a year or two years younger than me to catch her.
I went behind them without their knowledge. I tried to hide in the place where they felt some anonymous existence and turned back to check if someone else was following them behind.
“Catch her,” My father stopped and commanded his men.
I escaped from his sight somehow and kept following them to check what was actually happening. To my surprise, she was way faster than everyone and vanished in the sight of men. They were searching for her and I went deep into the woods and found the end of the cliff.
I heard some crying and muffled voices from the other end as I walked closer. Then I realised that I saw that girl holding a piece of rock trying hard not to fall. She begged me harder “Help me, please.” She struggled to speak.
I sat on my knees and held her hands. She thought I was going to help her but I tried to take her hands off from there and fall. That time I heard the men coming here so I fastened my pace in removing her hands from there.
As she left her entire grip and was about to fall down, I stood up to not see the scenario of her falling down and correctly the men came into shock.
“Sir, your son is here.” One of the men informed my father.
In just a few minutes he reached this place and kneeled down to hug me.
“What are you doing here, my son?” He asked, looking at me while caressing my back.
“I understood everything, dad.” I spoke. “She is our enemy’s daughter, right?” I said.
He nodded instantly.
“I let her fall down from here, dad. You don’t have to worry about her.” I assured him and he smiled after hugging me tightly.
“You proved to everyone that you’re my son.”
___
It was all in the past now. Her eyes never changed. Her innocent eyes have always made me feel pity about her. Our first meeting was the worst meeting out of everything. I am not sure yet how she survived from that incident.
“Who are you?” I asked. An unfamiliar man came inside the room. He gestured to me to be quiet by keeping his finger on his lips. He came closer as I was able to notice his olive green eyes, thin lips and visible chiselled chest. He removed the knots of the ropes I was locked by and whispered in my left ear“You want to be saved, don’t you?” He said with his lazy deep voice as I kept silent as he untied the ropes and lifted me up by placing his hands on my waist. It was a kind of strange feeling as I felt his hands on my waist, making me flinch. I felt his cold hands having contact with my warm body. I was sure that his intention to be here was to save me but my only question I had was the reason he is here. Do I know him?Have we met before?“No, we met for the first time. He was trying to kill your sister. So I saved her first and then came here.” He showed his hand signalling me to hold his hand. “If you cooperate with me, you can escape from him.”I nodded and held his hand as he he
“Yes?” I asked what Ms. Jones wanted to convey. It must be about Amelia. She is so intelligent that she always wants to know everything with more detailed explanations.“Ms. Garcia wants to talk to you. She wants you to be at her cabin, right now.” She said and left.Amelia never saw me except yesterday. We never met anywhere at any time. I’ve seen her interviews and even when she goes to her car after work. Her confidence always impressed me.Her bluish big almond eyes, black silky hair, button-like nose, pink full lips when I saw her up-close that time made me blush for the first time.I rushed inside her cabin and I saw her seeing something through the glass window wall having a cup of coffee. As she heard my footsteps, she turned gently as her free hair turned around with her effortlessly.“Oh, you came in without my permission.” She reminded me.I’m so stupid that I lost my manners and came inside without her knowledge. I stepped back apologising “Sorry.”And she raised her right
“What?! Where the hell are you right now?” I shouted at her. “I’m at my friend’s party. Why, what happened?” She asked me calmly as if nothing happened to us before which fuelled my anger more.“Did you get memory loss? We got kidnapped just a day before and now you’re having fun with your friends.” I reminded her of what had happened yesterday.“Nothing will happen to me. I’m safe. Don’t worry, Amy.” She assured me but still as her elder sister, I must take care of her. She just came here after so long. So I wanted to spend some time with her. “How will you make sure that you’re safe?” I questioned her. “She’s with me, Ms. Garcia.” I heard a familiar voice, turned out to be Mateo. What the fuck is he doing with her at her friend’s party?“Mr. Williams? Why are you with her?” I investigated him.“She asked me to be with her for safety, madam. I will make sure she is going nowhere without my knowledge. Please don’t worry about your sister.” He said. She is really making a move.“Mr.
“I got it, madam.” I was about to leave. “I didn’t tell you to go.” Amelia stopped me. “The discussion is not over yet.” She came near me. I was sitting on the couch and she came to stand behind me, caressing my hair. I am totally confused. What is she even doing now? “What is that you wanted to tell, Ms. Garcia?” I asked her. “Keep checking on him for safety. Okay?” Her hands went down to my chest. I flinched. I am feeling butterflies all over my body now. “Yes ma’am” I said. “Mateo, can I call you Mateo from now on?” She asked me. “Sure, ma’am.” I agreed with her. What exactly happened to her? Is she okay? “I’m okay, Mateo.” She stressed my name. “You don’t have to worry about me. I suddenly pulled her from behind and made her fall on me, she sat on my lap facing me. “What was that for?” She asked, a sudden gun shot. We laid down on the floor so that the gun shot didn’t affect us. I
“Amy,” I heard her voice. I was looking at the window, not giving a glance at the back to see her. I am so pissed off right now and I can’t just digest the fact that Mateo was with her. Not just that but it is not safe for her to be alone without anyone’s knowledge. She should have said it to me before she left. But she didn’t. “I am so, so sorry. I should’ve informed you but they caught me up —” “Stop it already. Is this even a situation to apologize? Do you know how worried I was when that bastard called me and told me about you?” I walked to her and gazed at her face intensely, “He knows our every move. We must be aware of it. And you —it was so immature of you, Evelyn.”I don’t often call her with her full name. But today, I was completely exasperated for what she did. “Amy, please accept my apology for this one last time.” She pleaded. “I’ll make sure that this doesn’t happen again. Ever.” Her voice filled with assurance and plea.My hands rested on her shoulders. I pursed m
“Amy,” Mr. Garcia called her when she was about to go upstairs. “We want to talk with you.”She looked at my side and realised that it was related to me. Well, about me. Amelia stayed where she was for a while and came towards Alfred who was sitting on the long sized couch, Mrs. Garcia was standing beside him. “What is it, Al?” She asked him, looking briefly at me and turned back to him. “We know that you would be angry at us but this is for your safety, Amy.” Mrs. Garcia started. “Yes,” He nodded with her. I stood tall and confident, staring straight. I clenched my hands in front of my torso. She tilted her head, “Looking for a bodyguard? Al, I told you –” He cut her off, “Yes, you've told me not to do this but I got to know that Noah spoke with you last night. We shouldn't leave this casually, so –I've already appointed your bodyguard.” He said. She gazed at me, showing off her smug. I stood straight and emotionless. “Mateo Williams. He will be your bodyguard from now on.” H
I shut the door and settled on my bed. I kept the medicine aside, on my nightstand. I usually do some night skincare routine but today I don't feel like doing it. Before getting ready to sleep. I remembered whatever happened today with Mateo. He was really a good man. I thought all guys are like Noah but Mateo is an exception. “Amelia,” Someone knocked the door. It must be mom Or Evelyn since it was a female voice. “The door's not locked.” I said. The door opened to reveal Evelyn. She came inside with a smile on her face. “What an unexpected visit, Evy.” I said, as I gestured to her to sit on the bed. “Well, I just wanted to check on you before I go to bed.” She said, sitting beside me. “For what? I'm completely fine.” I said confidently which I actually don't feel. “No, you're not.” She raised her voice, “Mom told me that you are not sleeping properly.” “She sent you to me? Woah,” I looked away, clicking my lips. “That's not true. I sleep regularly. Don't you believe me?”“
I was trying to escape from the people who were following me into the forest. I went so far that I forgot my way back home. I was actually on the way to my home from school in the car but some men stopped the car eventually causing me to hit my head on the front seat. Then I realised that they are not good men but my father’s enemies. They came towards me but before they could open the door and grab me I opened the other door and started running in a random direction.I ran fast like a cheetah as they were far behind me. I was relieved that they are far away from me and I stopped in between a bit. I didn’t have anyone to help me so my hands and legs started shaking not knowing what to do.When I looked up after relaxing a bit they were so close to me that I would’ve got caught even if I wasted a second because they were so close to me. I started running again deep inside the woods. As I went deeper, the view was also deeper, making me shiver and lose my breath. I wasn’t able to breathe
