Chapter Sixty-Eight

I looked around to make sure no one was looking, then grabbed the already-fried meat from a platter on the counter. I wasted no time in throwing it into my mouth, before retreating to a darker part of the kitchen to eat in peace.

The sudden sound of footsteps from outside the kitchen made my heart skip a beat.

I couldn't be caught eating anything other than the measly meals served to Omegas.

I wiped my hands hastily on my clothes to clean off the oil.

Once I straightened, the head cook burst into the kitchen, her mouth set in that so-familiar pout I was used to.

“Why did you leave the burner running?” She asked with heat, glancing around the kitchen no doubt to pick faults.

It was only then I noticed that I'd forgotten to turn off the electric cooker, and might've as well set the kitchen, if not the entire building on fire.

“I-I’m sorry-” I began saying, but trailed off when she promptly raised her hand.
