Chapter 65

Nicklaus’s POV:

I woke up very early in the morning to see Elena lying on my chest. Her chest was rising and falling, and her breath was steady. She slept so peacefully, and I admired her beauty.

My eyes were fixed on her, and I remembered all the happy moments we shared, but I also remembered the bad parts. All the allegations that were laid on her, and I didn't know what to feel again.

I slowly removed her from my chest and laid her on the bed. I rolled out of bed silently, hoping not to make any noise.

I got into the bathroom and took a bit of a of a shower. I allowed the warm water to cascade down my body. I have been so stressed lately, and I need warm water to make me feel relieved.

As I closed my eyes, I remembered how I made life at Elena's last night. I still have a soft spot for her, but I cannot trust her. I have never allowed any woman to distract me before in my life.

All my life, I have been thinking about making money and becoming the richest. I don't even know how to feel about her when the evidence points fingers at her for all of the terrible things that have happened.

I must not tell anyone about this until all the investigations are carried out.

I turned off the shower and cleaned my body with a fluffy white towel. I walked into the closet and changed into a casual outfit. I wore a blue denim trouser and a white T-shirt.

I brushed my hair and wore my wristwatch. I turned around to leave the room when I saw Elena sitting on the bed, and her eyes were fixed on me.

“You are up so early, Nicklaus. Where are you off to?” she asked.  Her voice was low and soft.

“To my penthouse,” I said, and I fixed my wristwatch.

“When will I see you again, Nicklaus?” she asked.

“When you get pregnant,” I said.

Her jaw dropped, and her eyes widened. She looked at me in disbelief.

“Nicklaus!” she called. “Something happened between us last night; were you doing it because you just wanted to get me pregnant and nothing else? What happened to the lives we shared?” she asked.

“There is no love again, Elena. You need to face reality. The love died when you killed my baby,” he shouted.

She was taken aback by my words, “What? How would you accuse me of such?” she spoke. “Why are you being so difficult, Nicklaus?”

“You should think of giving me an heir. That is what is supposed to be on your mind,” I said.

“Is that all you think off? Do you ever. Have feelings? You just want an heir so your father can pass all of his enterprises to you. Are you that selfish?” I asked.

I gave her a daring look, and my anger was rising. “You call me selfish? You shouldn't bring that up. You are my wife, and I will have the right to have sex with you. Where was your conscience when you threw the love away?” I asked, leaning in and looking straight into her eyes.

She was mute, and tears rolled down her cheeks. “You have a few weeks to become pregnant because if all of the investigations are concluded without you getting pregnant, be ready to serve your terms.” I spoke coldly and stood up.

“Nicklaus, how could you?” she asked, her voice cracked and she was tearing up already.  She reached out to hold my hand, and I removed her hand from mine before walking away.
