Chapter 57

Elena’s POV:

Nicklaus fixed his eyes on me, and his eyes never left mine. He stared at me and started walking closer to me. I couldn't control myself and get my eyes off him. He looked so hot, and I felt like kissing him.

I didn't take a step backwards or forward. I just stood frozen and waited for his reaction.

He stood close to me, and I became scared. His eyes were dark, and they bore into mine. I took some steps backwards and continued until my back rested on the door. He stared deeply into my eyes, and his facial expression turned serious.

“What do you want to talk about?” He asked, and his voice was deep and stern. He looked at me with so much hatred.

My eyes were fixed on his lips, and I was lost in my thoughts. I opened my mouth to speak, but the words wouldn't come out of my throat. It was as if I was losing it. I couldn't control myself anymore.

“Elena.” He called my name, and I returned to reality. I quickly shifted my eyes to the other side of the room.

“Uh, I,” I stuttered. The words wouldn't come out of my mouth.

“Elena, what do you have to say to me right now?” he asked.   His voice was deep and firm.

I turned to him, and I felt a huge lump in my throat. The words wouldn't come out of my throat, but I managed to speak. “I want us to talk about all that has been going on. I miss you, Nicklaus. Let's look for a way to fix things.” I spoke, and my voice was calm and soft.

He raised his eyebrows and placed one of his hands on the wall. His chest rose and fell close to me, and I could perceive his soft scent. I wanted to hold him tight and not let go, but I just couldn't bring myself to do that.

“Why should we fix what you ruined? He asked. I felt his warm breath against his skin. I was becoming weak, and it was hard to control myself.

I narrowed my eyes and searched his eyes. “Don't tell me you believe Sarah, Nicklaus. I am sure she fed you with those lies.” I spoke, trying to defend myself.

“Well, documents don't lie,” he spoke in a harsh tone.

“Nicklaus, I didn't marry you for your wealth. You should believe that.” I spoke, trying to defend myself, but it looked like all my efforts were in vain.

“Your family married you off because of my wealth. What makes you different from your family?” He asked, and his voice was deep and stern.

I should have known better that Nicklaus would ask me this question one day.

“Nicklaus,” I called. My eyes widened in disbelief as to what he was saying about me. I never imagined that he would speak to me in such a manner when he knows I clearly didn't marry him for his wife.

He knew it all, but he chose to say those hurtful words to hurt my feelings.

"Nicklaus, believe me, I did not do such. You can carry out your investigations. Please believe me. If, after the investigation, I am found guilty, then do with me as you please.” I spoke.

“And what about the miscarriage?” He spoke up. “Did you or did you not cause it intentionally?” he asked. His voice was rising.

My jaw dropped, and my eyes widened in disbelief. “Why would I cause my baby harm?” I asked; my voice cracked heavily, and tears started to fill my eyes.

“You were seen talking to him, weren't you? Why did you sneak off that way if you had no bad intention?” he asked. “Who are you? What are your plans with me?” he asked.

He moved closer to me, and I could feel his body close to me.

“Who are you, Elena?” he asked.

Tears rolled down my cheeks. “Nicklaus I am innocent. Carry out your investigations. You will see that they were all lies.” I spoke.

“Are you daring me?” he asked.

“No, I am not. I just want to prove my innocence. Do whatever you wish to do with me when the investigations are carried out.” I spoke.

He pulled away and rubbed his hands through his hair. He let out a frustrated sign.

“Nicklaus, I am ready to prove myself to you,” I said

“How do you intend to do that?” he asked.

“Let's make another baby. Make love to me, Nicklaus,” I said. “I am willing to give it another shot; I want to have your baby. I want to prove to you that I didn't do any of that.”

“Do you think this is all a joke to you? He shouted, his voice rising. “So you would cause another harm to me and the baby?” he questioned.

I shook my head and said, “No. I know how much you need an heir, and I am ready to give you a child. Just make love to me. Make me feel like a woman,” I said.
