Elena’s POV:
It was evening, and I decided to stop by the grocery store to get some groceries.
I had not even stepped all day. I stayed indoors, wallowing in my sorrows. I thought about how my life would be if I decided to take the job.
Now that I am jobless, let me make myself useful in the house before accepting Nicklaus's hell offer. I just wish that I would never see his face again, but it seems like I have no choice.
I can't let everything that I had worked for go to waste. I can't let this little disaster ruin my little reputation. I know Sam would want to hire me in his company, but I do not have a passion for white-collar jobs.
Wave and I were walking down the store when he held my hands, “Mummy, can we go check that out? I want to see the toy,” he said, looking at me with his pupils dilating.
“Wave, we can't. I don't have enough money to get you a new toy, and besides, you have more than enough toys.” I protested.
His pupil dilated. "Please, mummy. Let me go check it out,” he said, grabbing my hands.
I scoffed. “Fine, just for a few seconds,” I said, and we walked into the mall. Wave ran to the toys and watched all of the games.
"Baby, let's go common,” I said, but he seemed to be carried away with the new collections of toys.
After a few minutes, a lady walked up to us and said, “Ma'am, you should leave if you are not getting anything. We have a lot of people here, and we can't deal with those who can't afford to pay,”
“What do you mean? How much does the game cost for you to speak in such a manner?” I spoke up, holding Wave beside me.
“Well, I can only tell you if you are willing to buy or you leave,” she said, and her voice dripped with sarcasm.
“Yes, I am ready to buy it,”
“Well, it's 2000 bucks,” she said and folded her hands.
I scoffed, “What?”
The lady laughed out loud, “Well, I told you, you cannot afford to buy it. Now leave before I call the security on you both,” she said.
“Don't talk to my mother that way,” Wave spoke.
“You have to leave now, ma'am.”
“That's not how to speak to customers.” I heard a voice from behind.
The lady apologised. “I'm so sorry about that, sir,” she pleaded.
“Package the game collection for the little boy.”
I turned around to see Nicklaus standing behind me. Waves eyes lit up, and he shouted, “Mr Nicklaus,” he said, and hugged him tightly.
“How are you, little man?” He asked and waved and nodded his head. “I am fine.”
Wave walked up to me, “Mummy, I am sorry for that earlier. I only wanted to check out the new toys,”
“It's fine, son,” I said calmly. I couldn't wait to leave with Wave and get out of Nicklaus's sight.
“You shouldn't have bothered. He was just checking the game collections out,” I said.
“Well, a child never gets tired of toys,” he spoke, and I rolled my arms.
“I haven't heard from you. Are you taking the job offer?”
I shook my head, and the woman handed us the toys.
“I'm so sorry for the inconvenience,” she spoke and smiled nervously. I turned to Nicklaus. “Thank you, but you shouldn't have bothered,” I muttered. “What should you say to Nicklaus?” I asked, looking at Wave.
“Thank you,” he spoke with his tiny voice.
“Elena, please,” Nicklaus spoke.
“Now, let's go wave,” I said, and we quickly walked out of the store. I let out a sigh of relief. It's a good thing that you have left his sight. I don't want him close to my son before he sees the resemblance and suspects that wave is his.

My phone beeped with a notification. I kept chatting with Sam after having dinner. He had travelled out of town for a business meeting.
“I can't believe all of that happened today,” Zoey said as she cleared the dining table.
I dropped my phone and signed, “I couldn't believe it either,” I spoke, rolling my eyes. “I don't even want him close to my son.”
Zoey reached for my hands and gently squeezed them. "Elena, now is not the time to be stubborn. I know Nicklaus hurt you, but you need this job. You can't be like this, more especially not doing what you love the most; it's killing you. Just accept the job. In a few weeks, he will be out of your life for good,” she advised.
I scoffed and shook my head. “I don't know Zoey; I will think about it. This is such a hard decision, and I will do my best to keep the wave away from him.”
“If I were you, I would grab the offer. First. Do it for the sake of saving your job. Remove the personal grudges you are having against him for now,” she said.
“I will resume work tomorrow. It's not like I have a choice,” I stood up from the chair.
“Have a good night's rest. Thank you, Zoey,” I said and wrapped my arms around her.
I retired to bed, and my eyes were open all night long. I thought about the whole situation, and I didn't find it exciting. I wish it was a different guest. I never wanted Nicklaus back into my life.
After so much tossing and thinking. I took my phone and texted my boss, "Yes, I will take the job offer.”
He responded, “Fine. This is your chance to prove yourself; don't let me down,” he warned. I placed the phone on the bed and snuggled deeper into my pillow.
I closed my eyes and allowed myself to get some rest against the busy day tomorrow.
My alarm went off at 5 o'clock, and I let out a huge groan. I couldn't believe it was morning already.I sat upright with my hair looking messy. I blinked away the remaining sleep from my eyes while I rolled out of bed and into the bathroom.I turned on the shower and had a long, hot bath so that I could feel warm and gather enough energy. I cleaned up and wrapped a fluffy robe on my body before walking to Wave’s room.“Good morning, baby; arise and shine. It's a Monday morning,” I said, and a wave stirred. “Common, you have to get up. You don't want to be late for school,” I spoke.Wave turned around and blinked his eyes open. Good morning, mummy!” he greeted.“Did you sleep well, my love?” I asked as we both walked into the bathroom. “Yes, mummy. I saw Nicklaus in my sleep again,” he spoke. My heart skipped a beat, but I managed to brush it off. “It's just a dream,” I said and placed him in the bath. After having his bath, I dressed him up when I walked to the kitchen to prepare bre
Elena’s POV:I walked out to the main restaurant, and some of the chefs were looking at me awkwardly and whispering.I stopped in my tracks and slowly walked into the staff restroom to check myself. I turned around, and my outfit was looking perfect.I turned around and touched my hair. “What could be wrong? Why are they all whispering?” Just then, Anna walked up to me with a smile on her face.“Hello, Elena. I have been searching the whole place for you,” she said."Uh, I was in the bathroom,” I said and turned my head to observe the crowd, then I turned back to her. “Why are they all staring? Do they know something that I don't?”“Haven't you heard?”“Heard about?”“Well, it turns out Nelly walked into you and Nicklaus alone in the bathroom,” she said.“What?” I asked, creasing my brows. “That's not what it looks like,” I said. “Well, it’s too late because she has been spreading rumours about how you have been seducing Mr. Coleman, and she said she knew you would do it; that was w
Nicklaus’s POV:I ran to catch up with her as she ran into the restroom. “Elena,” I voiced out. I wasn't able to hold myself anymore. I wanted to see her and speak with her. This wasn't how I wanted us to see each other. I know that she must think that I planned everything and decided to stay in this hotel because I had been stalking her, but it was just a coincidence, and I felt grateful for such a coincidence. I was pissed to see that she had a good bond with Sam. Who knows how many other men are after her? I became even more pissed off. I remembered how she gave me a cold look. I could see it in her eyes. At first, she was confused, but a few seconds later, she remembered how I had treated her years ago. She must have considered me dead to her instead of waiting for me to come save her. How come she successfully had a child for another man? I tried so hard for her to conceive, or wasn't I patient enough?“Elena, please. I don't want to leave here until I have a word with you. Pl
Elena’s POV:Nicklaus Coleman. That name still rings in my head, and the memories of the past with him still replayed in my head like a fresh event. I will never let him come into my life anymore. I will do everything in my power to make him believe that Wave wasn't his son. I thought I could handle myself and be strong in front of him, but after seeing him like that and after so many years, something moved inside of me. I still managed to do it myself and not give him the satisfaction of seeing me break down.Sam overheard our last conversation. I have not really opened up to him because I wanted to forget everything that happened and move on.I don't even know how to face him anymore. I don't even know if I want to show myself at the hotel tomorrow. I changed into some comfortable clothes and collapsed on my bed. I lay my head on the pillow with my eyes fixed on the ceiling. I walked up to Wave's room and properly tucked his duvet in. I kissed him on the forehead and gently ran
Nicklaus’s POV:Could it be that she never wanted to have my child in the first place? Was I that mean to her? What is Elena hiding? Who is the father of her child? I vowed to always be there for her and to protect her, but I failed her. I really want her back. I am willing to take her son as mine. But Elena had made her choice never to come back to me again, and I will take it like that. The little boy had the colour of my eyes. Piercing blue eyes. I just wish he was mine. I would give anything to have a child with Elena. I will speak to Mr. Stone to give her back her full-time job.I walked to my closet and began to pack my stuff. After the meeting tonight, I will leave and never return to Oregon. I walked into the shower and had a hot bath. I let the water calm my muscles, and I exhaled deeply. “I love you so much, Elena, and I will do anything just to make you happy. You will always be in my mind.”After bathing, I dressed in my casual outfit and decided to go out for a stroll
Elena’s POV:My eyes widened when I could recognise the person who had just saved my life from those thugs. It can’t be him. I doubted my eyes.“Nicklaus,” I called his name to see if my eyes were deceiving me.He stopped on his track and turned to look at me before he walked out of the room. He didn't say a word. Just a heartbroken look, and he disappeared. My mouth was slightly parted, and I felt a little heartbroken. I just wanted to thank him for what he did."Let's go, Elena. I will drop you off,” Sam spoke, holding my arms. “Its fine. Sam. The staff car will take me home. You should go home and get some rest,” I said softly. “Are you sure?” he asked.“Yes, Sam. Please,” I said and turned around.I grabbed my stuff and got into the staff car waiting for me outside. Throughout the whole ride, I couldn't stop thinking about what happened earlier and how Nicklaus saved me. He looked so mysterious that I could barely recognise me.Why didn't he respond when I called him? His facial
“No, no, please don't go away. Don't leave me,” I whispered in my dreams as I stirred on the bed.I saw a figure walking out on me, and I was pleading for her to stay. I cried my eyes out as I pleaded, but she walked away without looking back. Immediately, my eyes opened, and I gasped for air. My chest was rising and falling rapidly, and my mouth was dry.I sat upright when I realised that it was just a dream. The recurring nightmare that I had been getting. I wiped my sweaty forehead and allowed my breathing to be stable before walking to the bathroom. I splashed cold water on my face and inhaled deeply, trying to catch my breath. I had not had this nightmare for a long time, and I was happy that it had stopped occurring. Why then did I have it time around?“What could be going in?” I muttered silently to myself, my eyes darting around the bathroom. Does it mean that Nicklaus wants to take my child away from me? Immediately, I remembered Wave, and I stroked out of my room to his r
Elena’s POV:I hurriedly walked out of the hotel room and banged the door in anger. Tears were forming in my eyes, and I was holding myself not to cry out loud.I rushed into the restroom and tried to hold my tears back. “No, Elena, you are not going to cry.”“You can’t do this; don’t cry.”Did he do it purposely to get to me? Or was that how he truly was? I couldn't understand what was going on.“How could he be so heartless? I don’t even understand how he still manages to do this. Why am I even getting angry?” I asked myself. I sniffed repeatedly and tried to calm my breath. I shouldn’t be angry. It's his lifestyle, and if he did it to piss me off, I will not give him the satisfaction that he wants. I shouldn't be getting angry or pissed at him. He is out of my life for good. Let him deal with his shit.I walked out of the restroom and decided to take a stroll to clear my head. I walked around the building, enjoying the gentle breeze to clear my thoughts and calm my mind.I didn't
