Nicklaus’s POV:
“Mr. Nicklaus Coleman, Elena has been granted bail.” Mr. John spoke on the other side of the line.
I narrowed my eyes. “What do you mean?” I asked.
“Your father had removed the charges he pressed against Elena with a bail of five hundred thousand dollars,” he spoke.
I quickly stormed out of the herd when Mr. John called to explain the whole process to me. I could not believe that my father allowed the court to grant bail to Elena when he should have just removed the charges that he pressed against her.
I got into my car and zoomed off to my father's house. I needed to see him face-to-face and have a word with him. I need a clear explanation of what happened, and I also need to know why Elena’s lawyer requested that she be set free on bail.
After a short drive, I arrived at my father’s mansion.
I quickly got out of my car and walked into my father's study. He was sitting in his study smoking a stick of cigarettes.
“Why did you storm into my study like that, Nicklays?” my father asked.
“Father, why did the court set Elena free on bail?” I asked, my eyes narrowing and my blood boiling with anger.
My father giggled and puffed his smoke. “Is that what this is all about?” he asked.
“Yes, father. Where do you expect her to get the money and pay you off? It's not like her family would assist her.” I spoke, my voice rising.
“You should take it easy on yourself, Nicklaus. Killing yourself and fighting for a woman who will only hurt you in the end is not worth it. Her lawyer pleaded with the court to do so. I have them the go-ahead to make things easier for her,” my father spoke.
I gave him a daring look as he dragged and puffed his cigarette. “Do not stand there staring; come have a seat,” my father spoke.
Immediately, I turned to my heels and walked out of the door. “Nicklaus, Nicklaus,” my father called, but I didn't respond. I didn't want to exchange words with him.
“Don't you dare walk out on your father,” he growled, his voice raising in anger.
“Watch me do it right now,” I muttered silently to myself and walked out of the house. I felt really exhausted with the whole thing. My love for wealth and power won't let me call off everything, and even if I did, Elena wouldn't accept me back. It's not like I don't have a choice.
I drove in the streets of Los Angeles. My head is fully with Elena’s thoughts. I don't even know how she is doing right now. I felt bad that my father didn't just remove the charges; rather, he took half a million because of the damages.
“What do I do?” I asked myself silently as I placed my hand on my forehead. Immediately, I decided and headed to the road that led to Alex's house.
After a short while, I arrived at Alex’s house. This time around, I wasn't going to leave until I saw Elena. I just want to have a word with her and to apologise for what I had done wrong.
I stood outside the building with a heavy heart. I had wronged her in so many ways, and I really want to apologise and make things right between us. I miss her so much, and the thought of staying without her for the rest of my life was unbearable.
I took a deep breath and dragged my heavy feet to the elevator upstairs to the last floor, and I rang the doorbell.
Immediately, the door was swung open, and Alex stood at the doorway again. I let out a frustrated. He gave me a daring look. Hisbeges were challenging me.
“You again? What do you want, Nicklaus?” He asked, lowering his voice.
“Elena. I am here for Elena,” I spoke, placing my hands in my pocket, trying to appear calm.
He raised an eyebrow. “Like I said the last time, she is not here. Or do you want me to keep repeating myself?.” he asked.
My blood boiled with rage, and immediately I walked up to him, taking a few steps closer. “Let me see her now. Enough of your bullshit,” I growled, my voice raising. I was getting frustrated already.
Just then, I heard a voice from behind Alex, a voice that made me still, “Zoey, I can't believe I am finally a free woman. I still need to prove my innocence. At least I can do whatever,” the voice trailed off, and Elena appeared behind Alex. “Alex, who is at the door? What's going on?”
Elena appeared behind Alex just in time, and he reluctantly moved to the other side of the doorway with his eyes not leaving mine. It was as if he was daring me to do something.
Elena stepped into the doorway, and her gaze fell on me, and she froze at that spot. Her eyes widened in shock, and her jaw dropped.
She looked like she had seen a ghost. I froze at that spot, my lips slightly parted, and I didn't know what to say anymore.
Elena’s POV:Alex reluctantly moved from the doorway, and my eyes fell on Nicklaus standing outside. His eyes met mine, and they locked in his gaze. I didn't want to look at him, but I couldn't control my wondering eyes. I chocked. “Hey! Elena. Are you alright?” Immediately Alex calmed me down, and he reached for my hand. I took in a deep breath and composed myself. Nicklaus took a step forward to offer a helping hand when I stopped him by raising my hands. “I'm fine,” I said.I stood straight and decided to face him. This time around, I won't be so timid again. I want to be bold. I have regained my freedom, and I have the right to stand up to whom I wish to stand up to.I gave him a daring look as my blood was boiling inside of me. “What are you doing here?” I asked. Nicklaus didn't say a word; instead, he took another step further closer to me, and I stopped him. “Answer my question, what are you doing here?” I asked.“Elena, can we talk?” He asked gently. “There is nothing t
Alex stopped in his tracks, and his eyes were on Elena. He didn't know what to say, and they both stared at each other in silence. His heart skipped as soon as possible as he remembered what Elena had just announced. “How long have you kept this from me, Elena?” He asked, taking a step forward and fixing his gaze on her. He wanted answers. He had been spending time with Elena, and he had never paid attention to such before, and she didn't even announce it to him.Elena sobbed, and she fixed her eyes on the floor. “For a couple of weeks,” she announced. Her voice trembled heavily as she sniffed. His heart slammed hard against his chest. It felt as if it had been pierced with a knife. “Fuck,” Alex muttered under his breath. “Who else knows about it? Does Zoey know about it?”Elena shook her head tirelessly, “Nobody knows. Not Zoey, not Nicklaus, and it should be that way,” she spoke and walked over to the couch. She collapsed on the couch.Alex took in a deep breath and walked toward
Sarah had been very busy making arrangements for the wedding, and her mother made sure that everything was in place. Everything was perfect until she realised that she had one more job to do. After a long drive, almost at the outskirts of Los Angeles, she walked into a dark underground building and stood there for a while. A man walked out of a room with a stick of cigarettes in his hands.Sarah smirked, and she laughed at the same time. “Long time no see, black wolf." “Sarah, it's been a long time. I have been seeing you all over the blogs. You are indeed a smart woman. That's the goal,” he said, dragging his cigarette. Sarah giggled and gave him a tight hug. “It's been a while. I've got a job for you,” she whispered in his ears. She pulled away, and they both walked into the dark underground with so many bodyguards guarding the place and tonnes of ammunition arranged on the wall.Sarah looked around, scanning the whole room, and smiling. It's been a long time since she visited he
Sarah walked into the mansion with a broad smile on her face. She knew that she had already accomplished her mission.Marina walked outside to the hallways to welcome Sarah, and she couldn't stop staring at Sarah as she smiled throughout. She wanted to know what it was that was making Sarah happy. When she was done attending to Sarah and preparing her bathtub, she walked into her room and put on her earbuds, in a hurry to listen to Sarah’s conversations. She operated it from her mobile phone to listen to Sarah’s recordings for the day, but she discovered nothing. It turned out that the recorder was blank. She narrowed her eyes and decided to try the recorder in Sarah’s room, and it was still blank. She wondered if it was the signal. She quickly walked into Sarah’s room but discovered that the door was locked. She tried to act normal, but her heart kept pounding hard in her chest. She hurried into her room and paced around. “What could be the problem?” “Did Sarah discover the recor
Sarah’s POV:“The target is out of the mansion."I sat on the bed after having dinner. I was sipping non-alcoholic wine. I let out a satisfied sigh and sat on my bed. I knew the black wolf was already on the lookout for Marina. She had been acting nervous since she discovered that I found out about the recorder. She is going to find out about it tomorrow. She won't live to testify. Just when I was lost in thought, my phone buzzed. “We found her,” it read.It was a message from a black wolf. I met out with a sly and calculating smile. “Good work. See you tomorrow,” I texted back and dropped my phone on the bedside.I turned off the light and went straight to sleep, feeling satisfied and happy that everything was working in my favour. With time, I will get Nicklaus to love me, and he would not be able to do without me.****The next morning, I woke up feeling happy and a little tired. I had been feeling nauseous lately and gained some weight. The symptoms of pregnancy were beginni
Elena’s POV:I woke up very early in the morning because of my constant nightmares. My mind still replayed the nightmares in my head. For two days now I have been contemplating whether to open up and tell Nicklaus about my pregnancy since he is the father of my baby. He abandoned me without thinking twice about it. He signed the divorce papers and forced me to sign them.I lay on the bed and tossed around. I lay on my back and stared at the ceiling. I thought about the whole thing. I wanted to keep this pregnancy a secret because I did not want anything to hinder my plans. I had been planning to go far away and start my life. To have a fresh start. Away from everybody, but I didn't even know where to start, but the idea of going away and starting over again had been my dream.I was happy last night because the waiter released a statement at the court and claimed that the allegations against me that caused my miscarriage were false. This made me a little proud of myself. At least I g
Elena’s POV:My heart skipped a beat, and my legs became very heavy. “No,” I muttered silently to myself. My mind struggled to process what I had just seen. It felt unbelievable. My breathing increased rapidly, and I could feel my breath cease. Irina caught up with me and stopped in her tracks when she noticed that I had seen it all. She had a long face on, and I could also see tears gathering in her eyes. “Maam,” she called out; her voice was low and filled with worry. I turned around to see a worried look on her face. But I couldn't speak, I couldn't think, and I couldn't respond. All I could think of was turning around and running out of the premises. I didn't stop in my tracks until I was out of the gate. I gasped for air, and my chest was rising and falling. My vision was blurry, and tears filled my eyes. I didn't even know what to do. I stood by the road, stretching my hands to stop a taxi. I didn't know where to go; all I knew was that to get out of the house, out of Nickla
Sarah’s POV: I walked down the aisle in my beautiful white wedding dress. The stunning lace and crystals glittered in the light. My father held my arms beside him; he was filled with pride as he escorted me to my future husband. I couldn't stop smiling. I was grinning ear to ear, and all eyes were on me. I enjoyed the excitement and joy of the moment. It made me feel like a princess in a fairy tale and the centre of attraction. I love that I was the center of attraction and all eyes were on me and Nicklaus. Everybody admired me as I walked to the alter. The guest stood on their feet. I could see the admiration on their faces. I became the spotlight and had my dream wedding, which made me the talk of the town. Nicklaus was already standing at the altar waiting for me. His charming smile made me fall hard for him. He was dressed in a black suit, which suited him perfectly, and his hair was styled, every strand in place. He looked like a model about to walk down the runway for Vogue
