Chapter 100

Elena's POV:

I blink my eyes open, and I find myself lying on a bed. I couldn't understand what was going on. Just now I was in the courtroom; how come am I lying on the bed?

I turned my head sideways and tried to clear my blurry vision. Everything was blurry until it gradually became clear; that's when I realised that I had been hospitalised.

After some time, I recalled that I had been feeling uneasy in the courtroom, and I could remember when I was about to lose balance when Alex and Nicklaus rushed to help me out.

I sat upright and cleaned my eyes with the back of my palms. I tried to get a hold of myself when the door was swung open. 

The doctor walked in with a smile on her face and a paper in her hand.

“Hi, Elena? How are you feeling? Today?” She asked, smiling broadly.

I nodded my head and smiled slightly. “I'm fine, thank you, doc,” I said gently.

She walked close to me and opened the paper in her hands. “We had to run a couple of tests on you. Congratulations Elena. You are 4 weeks pregnant,” she spoke while handling me the test result.

 My jaw dropped in shock, and my breath ceased. It was hard to believe. 

“Wh… what?” I asked.

“Yes, Elena. You are pregnant,” she spoke to me while smiling broadly. 

I opened it and saw that she was saying the right thing, and my eyes widened in disbelief.

“I will see you soon. Just get some rest,” she spoke and was about to walk out when I called the doctor. “Doctor,” I called.

She turned back to me. “Yes, Elena,”

“Please don't tell anyone about this. Not even my family,” I pleaded with her.

She smiled, “You are my patient. Your health status is safe with me. Trust me on that,” she spoke and walked out. 

Immediately, tears rolled down my eyes. I didn't know what to do or what to say. I was just dumbfounded. How could I be pregnant? With everything that is already going on. This keeps getting harder as the day passes by.

 I sat there lost in my thoughts as I always tried to get pregnant.

Immediately, I heard footsteps, and I quickly wiped away my tears and hid the test result under the sheets. I took in deep breaths and tried to act normal as if nothing had happened.

The door was swung open, and I looked up to see who it was. Alex and Zoey walked in with a worried look on their faces.

“Elena? Are you okay?” She asked hurriedly.

Alex scanned my body and looked at me closely. I could see the worrisome look on their faces. I nodded my head and forced a smile.

“Yes, I am fine. I guess it was so much stress,” I spoke; my voice was husky.

“My goodness, you had us really worried and they wouldn't let us see you, but it's good you have gained a little freedom,” she spoke.

I narrowed my eyes. “A little freedom? What do you mean?” I asked, fixing my gaze on her.

Alex sat close to me; my eyes moved to his side. "Yes, Elena. I tried the best I could, seeing that you were under a lot of stress, and I requested that you be set free from the police cell,” he spoke.

“So where will I be?” I asked; my voice was low and barely above a whisper.

“Well, you are now under house arrest until your next trial,” he announced.

I grinned from ear to ear, and my eyes were fixed on both of them. “You don't mean it? Really?” I asked excitedly.

“Yes, Elena. You will be in the comfort of your home,” Zoey spoke.

My happy mood changed, my face hardened, and my lips pressed into a thin line. “Well, I do not have a house to stay in. I don't have a place to call home anymore,” I said.

Zoey reached for my hands and gently squeezed them. “I'm so sorry about that, Elena, but we can figure out a way, right?” she spoke.

Alex looked at me. “Well, there is only one way,” he spoke; his voice was firm.

“Which is?” Zoey asked, fixing her eyes on him and giving him a questioning look.

“You live with me, Elena,” he announced.

My eyes were fixed on him, and he went further to speak. “Well, at least until this is over, then you can get a new place,” he spoke.

I didn't even know how to react. I am feeling a little released that I would be out of the cell but living with Alex...?
