Chapter 23

Naya really felt very guilty about the incident that happened a few days ago. When Arka's mother was slapped by her husband just for defending her. Plus, yesterday Arka's father unexpectedly came to the shop with several of his bodyguards. He threatened to destroy his shop, he even dared to threaten to destroy his life with his mother in front of his own mother.

 

"Huh, how is this, why am I so sad? Shouldn't I be happy? This is what I've been waiting for. Get away from all the distractions, Mr. Arka," he muttered, trying to fight his sadness.

Naya's mother, who had just returned from the shop, surprised her a little. Isn't it too early to go home? Usually his mother would come home at night.

 

"Why are you home already? I just wanted to catch up with you. Oh, is the shop so busy that you close early?"

 

Instead of answering, Naya's mother chose to put down the basket containing the leftover food, before finally sitting herself on a chair in the TV room. Naya could see that the basket her mother was carrying contained a lot of leftover food. 

 

"Mom, your hand," he shouted when he saw the wound on her mother's hand.

 

"Mom, what happened? What happened to your hand?"

 

"Nay, do you really love Arka?"

 

"What? Why is mom suddenly asking like that? Oh wait, Naya is going to get medicine for..."

 

"No need. Mommy already treated it earlier. Sit down, I want to ask something."

 

"Mom, what is actually going on? Does all this have something to do with Mr. Arka's father? Wait! Is this all his doing?"

 

Instead of answering, her mother lowered her head. She was confused about what to do, Arka's father had come back to his shop to cause a riot by slandering that his shop was selling food that was not fit for consumption, causing all the customers there to immediately judge him. Luckily, Juna came and immediately helped him. Arka's father also threatened her to make his life even more ruined than this if Naya still dared to approach Arka.

 

"Mom."

 

"Nay, since your father died, the shop is our only source of income. That's the only thing that can keep us alive."

 

Naya was silent for a moment, trying to think about the meaning of her mother's words. "Does all this have anything to do with Mr. Arka's father? Did he really carry out that threat?" Naya thought.

 

"Nay, do you really love Arka? If it's true, your love will struggle, darling."

 

"Mom. Actually there is something I want to say to mother."

 

"Why?"

 

"I've broken up with Mr. Arka."

 

"I'm sorry, mom. Sorry for lying to you. This is the only way to save our lives without having to make you feel guilty," thought Naya.

 "What actually happened? So it was all the work of Mr. Arka's family?"

 

Naya was forced to tell Juna everything. Actually, she didn't want to meet the man anymore, but somehow Juna had helped his mother, so he had to say thank you.

 

At first Naya was just going to say thank you and leave, but it seemed like Juna wanted to know more about the cause of what happened yesterday. Juna will accept thanks from Naya as long as Naya tells her everything.

 

"Nay."

 

"Don't let everyone know, I believe in you," said Naya, making Juna immediately look at her with pity.

 

"You can tell me anything and anytime, Nay. Come to me when you need help."

 

"Thank you, but it looks like I won't need your help anymore."

 

"Why? Is it because you still hate me?"

 

Naya nodded "That's one thing. Apart from that, I just don't want to be too open about my problems to other people. Then I'll go, thank you again for helping my mother."

 

Juna could only remain silent and let Naya walk away. It turns out that what he said some time ago caused a deep wound in Naya's heart. He didn't expect the effect to be this big.

"You can create groups for this assignment. Remember, one group can only contain a maximum of 4 people. All group members must participate in doing the assignment, don't include the names of members if they don't participate in the assignment."

 

"Okay sir."

 

Mr. Arka nodded before finally glancing at Naya, who had just been looking down with a blank stare. What happened to her? Why does it seem like Naya is thinking something? he thought.

 

"Ekhem Naya," Mr. Arka called, which immediately made him look up at him.

 

"I just explained about the final assignment. Did you hear that?"

 

"Yes, sir. I will do it myself."

 

"You don't want to group up with your friends?"

 

"No one wants to team up with me. Besides, it's much better if I do it alone."

 

"Everyone, open the book to the last page. Study the material first, I will explain it later."

 

"Okay sir."

 

"And for you Naya, come with me," he continued before walking out of the classroom.

 

"Where are they going?" 

 

"Did you guys notice anything? They look strange. Have they broken up?"

 

"Well if it's true that's great news."

 

Several murmurs began to be heard as Naya walked out of the classroom following Mr. Arka.

 

"Anything?" asked Mr. Arka straight to the point.

 

"What's wrong with you? Are you sick? Or do you have a problem? Why are you just silent?"

 

"Sir, can we end all this?" Naya asked, making Mr. Arla immediately shocked beyond belief. End? What do you mean by their relationship?

 

"What do you mean ?"

 

"Can we end this charade?"

 

"What? No!"

 

"Sir."

 

"Why? Why is it suddenly like this? Yesterday you didn't mind it. You even seemed to accept this charade, why has it changed now?"

 

"This relationship makes me uncomfortable, sir. I want to focus on the graduation exam,"

 

"Are you looking for an excuse? If that's the reason, I can teach you to study exam questions."

 

"Sir."

 

"What's wrong? Tell me the truth. What are you hiding?"

 

"There isn't any."

"Who allowed you to just leave after successfully pissing me off?" said Mr. Arka holding back Naya who wanted to leave.

 

"Sir."

 

"I don't care what actually happens. What's clear is that I don't want to end this relationship. I told you, didn't I, that I would give up if I was really tired? Now I'm not tired so I won't just let you walk away from me, Nay."

 

Naya widened her eyes in surprise when Mr. Arka suddenly pulled her body closer to him before finally their lips met.

 

Sweet, that's what Mr. Arka felt when he tasted the tiny lips of the girl he loved so much. It seemed like these lips would become his addiction later because just one taste of them made him drunk.
