CHAPTER FOURTEEN CAUGHT BY THE ALPHA

The feeling I was having at the moment was not explainable, I felt like my heart could jump out of my chest. His voice struck me as I wondered if he recognized me. He must have done! If not, why would he beckon at me like he remembered killing me but was just realizing that I was alive. 

It wasn't my scent but he recognized it? I thought and swallowed hard then his voice came again. 

Stating at him, my eyes bore into him, with anger blooming from it. 

I didn't want to show it, I must not; else he'd find out about me and if he did. That would be the end of me and the end of Fiona because Alpha Kane won't let her be. 

The thought of getting killed twice by the same person sent fears clouding my mind. Although the first one, he hadn't succeeded but had my legs crippled. 

“Why are you in here?” He asked, his voice cold yet tender. 

All I could see in him wasn't the Alpha Zane I knew, I could see a total different man whose face wasn't the one I've always known. 

I was relieved that he hasn't recognized my scent, I was almost convinced that the Jasmine disguised scent had failed me but it didn't. 

“I was—” I stammered wanting to answer his question. But truth be told, I couldn't think of anything to say. I got lost staring at his face which shows how tender he looked at me. Right! I was disabled, crippled and useless. Maybe he really do feel passionate towards those kind of people like they had said and now I'm one of them. Disabled! 

“Weren't you told that this is a garden for the Alpha only and nobody has ever stepped in here without the king's permission” He said making me blink eyes twice. 

A secluded area mainly for the Alpha? “How could I have figured that out, I just got here!!” 

“You know what happen to people who enter this sacred place without my permission yet you still dare come inside?” Alpha Zane asked making my stomach churn. 

It should be a good think that fate brought us together right now, he's the mission I have to fulfil and here I met him without stress but it looks like I got into trouble with him instead. 

I wasn't from the pack and yes! I don't know the rules, the culture and way of living, all which I planned to learn if I want to survive here. But here I got into trouble with the Alpha I came here to watch on the first day of my stay.  

“I haven't heard of the punishment…Alpha..Zane” I stuttered. 

He smirked, staring at me with his eyes piercing into my skin. 

“You don't know??” He asked again acting as if he had heard wrong. 

I didn't know if every member of the pack knew about it but I was just someone who came from another pack but how do I tell him that. 

He must surely be more cunning than Alpha Kane is. The hell am I talking about!! He is. 

“What is the punishment….for trespassing on this ground, Alpha Zane?” I asked, trying hard not to stutter but I just couldn't. 

He chuckled, but it wasn't a friendly one, “Why? Ready to take the punishment??” He asked and I gulped. 

“No, please forgive my negligence, I was just taking a stroll away from the festival, I didn't realize until I got into the garden” I pleaded, explaining my plight. 

“How is the festival going?” He asked, taking me by surprise. 

He just asked me a question I would never had expected him to ask. 

I didn't know how the festival was going as all I did was think about my mission here, what is at stake and how to get things back to how they were. 

He stared at me waiting patiently for a response which I found hard to give. 

“The festival is going great” I said, avoiding his gaze. 

“Great in what way?” He asked, making me want to believe that he knows about me not knowing anything about the festival. 

“The people are full of merriment, and shifting are being done massively, I can't help but realize that the Alpha is truly a great leader giving the people reasons to rejoice” I said with a smile, when I know it wasn't needed and I wanted nothing like that with Alpha Zane, smiling at him was the last thing I'd resort to if not for being in this situation. 

He chuckled slightly. I wondered if I passed and he's convinced or if I had failed and he isn't anywhere near being convinced by my shabby acting. 

But then he chuckled and that could only means one thing, that he is pleased with what I had just said. 

“You are not from my Kingdom, I could tell from the start” Alpha Zane said, his face becoming more cold than before.  

It dawned on me that he had been observing me from the start much more than I had thought. As always, he's always vigilant and always on guard but I failed to think about that. 

It made me shudder in fear, he caught me! He didn't buy that! I thought i had hid so well and was doing great by responding well to the conversations and questions but i was wrong. I should have remembered that Alpha Zane was not that dumb and that he was ruthless and smart. 

I swallowed hard as my gaze met Alpha Zane's again, his glare telling me to start making explanations. 

I knew he was going to question my identity having found out that I wasn't a part of his pack. 

His eyes squinted, arousing his suspicions the more about why I was being silent and then it dawned on me that I have to stop staying silent for real!!! Else everything at stake for me coming here will vanish, Fiona, those Innocent people, and then finding out about the death of Gina. All would be lost but I wouldn't let that.
