She is back

RAVEN'S POV.

"Ugh!" I let out an exhausted groan while relaxing fully on my swivel chair, my palm resting on my forehead. It was already half past 11 p.m., but I made no move about getting up to go home or even having the interest to.

' Margaret would be so worried.' My subconscious whispered to me, but I couldn't care less, because these past four years, all I have been thinking of was her.

"My wife," I murmured to myself, loving how it sounded so right and perfect coming out of my lips, but then I remembered she wasn't my wife any longer, but my ex-wife.

Five years ago, I made a very great mistake, if not the biggest in my life. I pushed away the only woman who ever loved me for me and gave up everything in her life just to be with me for a gold digger who had deceived me for years.

I was pretty sure Felicity never expected that I would find out the truth. I would get curious at some point about some of her odd behaviors and investigate.

Not only was I shocked to discover I was being played like an imbecile fool, but I also discovered something far greater. Important to Aysel, what might even give her the chance to make her forgive me if I ever did find her?

It's been four years now since I have been searching for her. I have looked across every country, at least almost, but found no one that matches her exact description nor her name, except for one billionaire's wife.

I was damn sure it was not her because one thing I was confident in that still gave me hope that I could have her back was that Aysel loved me to fault and always forgave me when I committed any mistakes.

I hope it won't be different now, and I also hoped she hadn't remarried and was still waiting for me somehow. I knew it was a selfish thought, but I just couldn't help but wish for it.

It is said you never know the value of something until you actually lose it, and that was exactly what happened to me. This time I would get her back; this time I would make things right and give her everything she deserved.

Just then, the door to my office burst open, and in came Bryan, my personal assistant, who was holding his usual tablet with a serious gaze. A workaholic just like me, and this was one of the reasons why we got along so well.

"Mr. Rashford," he called out respectfully, and I turned to give him my full attention.

"Is everything well, Bryan?" I questioned him, and he heaved before he replied, his eyes still on his tablet.

"Well, not really, Mr. Rashford, for you might not like this news I am about to drop." He warned me in advance, and that just got me more curious.

"What is it? Spill," I ordered, my hands moving away from my forehead to rest on the arms of my chair.

"Adrian Night is back in town, and this time, it seems like he is going to stay or relocate here," Bryan informed, and there was silence for awhile as I took in this news.

' That bastard was back to cause trouble as usual; hasn't he learned anything from those years abroad to at least reset his brain?' I pondered, gritting my teeth together and feeling irritation run through me.

"What makes you think he is here to stay?" I inquired from Bryan, who was still scrolling through his tablet. Only God knows what he was looking for in there.

"Well, he arrived with his wife and son," Bryan replied to me, and I rose up a bit from my chair, those words catching my interest.

"Adrian Night is married; he has a wife and son." I questioned in disbelief, and Bryan nodded, finally taking his eyes off his tablet to look at me.

"Yes, it's even on the news," he replied, and I don't know why, but something just made me so curious and urged me to check, so I instructed Bryan.

"Show me." And he did, but nothing ever prepared me for the kind of electricity shock that went through my body.

I shivered, my forehead and palm miraculously growing sweaty; my eyeballs were even shaking.

"No, no, it can't be," I whispered, shaking my head sideways, not wanting to believe what I just saw.

'Perhaps it was a doppelganger or something,' I told myself, trying to hide from the truth. Meanwhile, Bryan just stood there with a raised eyebrow in question, wondering what was going on with his boss.

"Ehm, sir, are you alright?" He asked, worry laced in his tone, but I couldn't reply. I found myself speechless, still trying to absorb what I just saw.

"Zoom into that picture and look closely at his wife; who does she look like?" I inquired, hoping Bryan would say no one or just mention a random person, but I was wrong.

I knew I was doomed when Bryan let out a gasp of disbelief.

"Is this not young, madam, sir? We have been looking for her for the past four years, haven't we?".

I didn't answer him. I couldn't. It suddenly felt like all the air and life had left my lungs, as I just staggered backwards, collapsing into my chair, my eyes lifeless.

Just then, Bryan's tablet made a beep, distracting us and cutting through the tension in the room.

He immediately went through it and let out a weary sigh, followed by.

"Oh no!".

"Another bad news?"

"No, sir, even worse," he replied, and my eyes drew back to his immediately as I waited for him to spill.

"It's Mr. Adrian Night," he revealed, and I gripped the edge of my chair so hard, my fingers sinking into the soft foam, probably damaging it, but I didn't care.

" And?"

"He is requesting a meeting," Bryan told me, and I shrugged, but then noticed a nervous look on his expression and knew that was not all.

"Spill everything," I ordered, and Bryan's eyes almost went teary, like he was pitting me.

"He is bringing his wife." He dropped the bombshell.
