I take on your offer

AYSEL'S POV CONTINUES.

"I can help you seek revenge, but on one condition." He told me, staring at my face, probably observing my expression, so I tried to be as neutral as possible.

"Who are you?" I proceeded to ask first because no one was as kind to appear out of nowhere and offer to help me get revenge. Besides, he seemed to have an ulterior motive.

He chuckled.

"Is that really the most important thing now?" He questioned me, and I nodded at him.

"I don't deal with strangers, even if I am desperate." I told him.

"Very well, then. My name is Adrian Night, owner of Night's Construction Company. Your husband, or should I say ex-husband since you two are  divorced?" He stated this, and his words felt like a jab to my heart.

"Is it my biggest rival who stole ideas from me, and I am set to get back at him?" Adrian explained, his eyes growing dark as he clenched his fists. I had this nagging feeling something was not wrong, but because I wasn't in my right state of mind, I ignored the gut feelings.

"I am sorry," I apologized, and he turned to look at me, moving backwards as if he couldn't believe I was apologetic. Well, I wasn't a monster like my ex-husband.

Remembering him brought back all the hurt, pain, and humiliation I felt. How I begged him, begged his mistress to please help me plead with him not to send me out into the cold.

I gave up everything—my life, my career—just so I could be with him. I was ready to do anything just as long as he was happy, but all those things never mattered because it was all hers.

She was the one who mattered to him; she was the one he cared about. Now I remember all those nights when he made love to me and would chant another woman's name. It was her name.

Remembering all these brought me pain and, at the same time, anger. I was being taken for a fool. Now that I am pregnant and all alone, what do I do?

"Are you just going to sit there and sulk all day, in self-pity, or get up and accept my offer?" Adrian asked, looking at me, his expression blank once again.

"Get back at those who hurt you. Leave and return back glamorous enough for him to regret losing you." Aidan kept on talking, saying words that fueled me into wanting to accept his offer, but I just could not hurt him; I still loved him.

"I don't...." I was about to tell Aidan I was going to refuse his offer when I heard his voice on the TV and drifted my eyes back to the screen immediately. There he was, my husband, but he was with her, holding her tightly by the waist to himself, a love glow in his gaze as he glanced at her.

They were being interviewed, and the woman asked.

"Mr. Rashford, how about your wife?" His mistress looked uncomfortable as the interviewer asked the question, but he had on a smile I knew so well.

A mischievous smile meant he was about to say something crazy or probably lie, and it was the latter.

"That woman is not my wife, but a gold digger," he spat out with disgust, and I reared back in shock from where I was sitting on the hospital bed.

"How was I a gold digger?" I pondered. I never really took anything from him except what he bought or gifted to me.

"How, Mr. Rashford?" The interviewer questioned me, just as confused as I was.

"She cheated on me at first, then proceeded to try and steal from me. Luckily, I caught her just in time and chased her out like the peasant she was." He lied, and I looked on in awe, too weak and tired to cry.

I was just frozen, my mouth agape, unable to say or do anything. As a matter of fact, I didn't want to believe what Raven was saying about me. Lying to their faces, just so as not to look guilty for cheating on his wife or sending her out of his house for his mistress,.

"I am so sorry, Mr. Rashford." The interviewer expressed her sympathy, but Raven just beamed before drawing her, his mistress, closer into his arms.

"It's nothing. I am finally with the love of my life, so a pest like her doesn't bug  me." He said that, and the TV went off. I turned and saw Aidan with the remote control.

" Why?" I muttered, not finding the strength to speak out loud. Hearing all the lies and foul things Raven said about me has just made me so weak.

"To keep on watching will hurt you, and now that you are already feeling so terrible, more might damage you," he explained, and I felt touched. Tears once again, for the hundredth time that day, formed on my eyelids.

Even a stranger cared about me. Someone I just met a few hours ago, a man I have known for more than three years now, a man I abandoned opportunities for, didn't even blink an eyelid at seeing me in discomfort.

Instead, he worsened my situation. I knew if I should go on social media now, I would see netizens attacking me and calling me names, not having an idea of the true story.

"That's enough; stop crying," Aidan told me, but that only made me shed more tears, and he sighed wearily, leaving me alone. I placed my hand on my flat tummy, looking for any sign that there was a tiny life growing inside me.

I was pregnant now, and it was for him. Could this get any worse? I couldn't go back to him and let him know of this pregnancy because, knowing what a monster he is, I am sure he would try to get rid of the child if he didn't try to get rid of me first.

I felt a hand patting me on the back and leaned towards it.

"It's okay," he continued to whisper and pet me till I got a hold of myself again, then I said.

"I take on your offer.".
