As the cars sped off through the highway, Amy couldn't help but feel anxious. She looked at her father who sat silently beside her as he kept glancing at his wristwatch from time to time.

“Dad, where are we going?” Amy asked, knitting her brows at the unfamiliar streets of New Jersey.

“Where we should have gone back after the conference, home,” her father replied, placing his hand on her comfortingly.

Amy looked at him confused, feeling her heart twist at the thought of never being able to see the kids again.

“But dad, I want to see the kids,” she protested, looking at him, her eyes teary.

“Those are Liam's kids sweetheart, we have to go home,” Mr. Vane huffed out in frustration at his daughter's insistence.

Amy felt her mind fill with mixed emotions, making her feel overwhelmed as she thought of those kids. The feeling of nostalgia creeping up her throat.
