"No need, I'm leaving."

Silence and tension settled in the car on their way back to Kyla's house. The doctor's words still posed questions in Kyla's mind.

“Aren't you going to explain what the doctor meant with his statement?” Liam probed, his voice calm. Maybe a bit too calm for Kyla's liking, it felt like the calm before the storm.

“How should I know? He left before he could explain,” Kyla said, raising her shoulders, clueless.

Liam studied Kyla carefully through his side eye shot, she appeared too composed as she patted Dean's head.

“May I ask why you asked Dean to call you mom?” Liam broke the silence that once again settled between them.

Kyla whisked her head towards him in surprise at how he put out his statement.

“What are you trying to say, Liam? You know that's the last thing I would do, how could I say no to Dean?” Kyla expressed her disappointment, trying to keep her voice low not to wake the sleeping boy.
