Home sweet home

Two hours later, the wedding was finalized. Avanti was asked to serve tea to everyone there.

She gets up from the couch gently and held with her eight teacups on a long tray.

She gave everyone there a teacup Including me.

We shared a quick smile at each other before she walked to serve the rest of the tea.

Thereafter, Avanti's in-laws left with her parents. Abhishek kissed his sister on her cheeks and walked into his bedroom.

She turns and finds me standing behind her.

Avanti falls on the couch and grunts loudly. It was as if she had been holding it in for so long.

I walked to her and sat on the couch's arm.

Her parents however walked in before we got a chance to speak and Mrs. Anuradha called me out with a strenuous voice.

I got up and Avanti faced her mom by asking what happened.

Mrs. Anuradha picked up her hand and pointed at my attire.

They all gazed at it and I took did the same.

I don't think there's anything wrong with my dress,?" I said.

It looks like my words got everything complicated. She yelled at the top of her voice and asked Avanti to tell me that Western clothes aren't part of Indian culture.

Like, can someone please tell her I'm not Indian?

Avanti took over the conversation and begged her mom to reason, however, Mrs. Anuradha was so stubborn that she warned me never to wear such again.

She leaves with her husband.

I looked up and Abhishek witnessed everything.

He rolls his eyes and leaves too.

Avanti comes to me.

"Please don't mind my mom, she can be annoying sometimes,"

She placed her hand on my shoulders.

I faced her and walked alone to my bedroom.

At night, I couldn't get sleep.

I checked the time and it was midnight.

I thought of going to meet Avanti but there was no way, she could be awake.

I got down from the bed and rode downstairs. I got into the kitchen to grab myself a glass of water when I met  Abhishek alone there.

He had his laptop with him and looked up the minute he saw me coming in.

"The ladies of the house should be sleeping,"

He speaks out.

I walked to the fridge and grabbed a glass of water and the jar

"Says the man of the house, who isn't sleeping as well,".

I replied.

He grinned and slammed shut his laptop.

He got up from the stool and rode in my direction.

I thought he was going to say something but he didn't even alter a single word.

He leaves me in the kitchen alone with my glass of water.

I came out afterward and got back into my bedroom. I locked the door, sat on the bed, and somehow I felt the glass of water made me a little bit dizzy.

Slowly my eyes fall asleep.

The next morning, in my sleep I smelt incense burning, the smell was getting so strong that I bounced up just to find Mrs. Anuradha inside my bedroom spreading the smoke in.

"Ma'am, what is that?"

I complained to her

She ignored me but replied with a provocative attitude.

I almost wanted to hit her with my slippers, luckily Avanti came in and saw her mom busying herself in there.

She held her towards her gaze.

"Mom, what are you doing, is this necessary,"

Avanti complained as well.

Mrs. Anuradha raised her hand and smacked her head.

She was like, the incense is used to drive evil spirits away, let me guess, I am the bad spirit, right?

Avanti beseeched me not to say anything because I was about to go Jackie Chan on her mom's ass.

I sat back down and inhaled the entire thing.

She leaves after making sure I Inhaled it.

Avanti asked me not to fight and left with her in a hurry.

I came down from the bed and opened the windows.

Thereafter, Avanti phoned me, she told me to come to meet her downstairs and sounded as if something had happened.

I ran out after picking up my shoes.

I rode past her parents who looked at me with different expressions.

Mrs. Anuradha had something to say behind my back however her husband, Mr. Ajay immediately rebuked her.

I ran outside and met Avanti waiting for me in a car, she asked me to get in for a long tour around the city.

I danced my shoulders and got in with her.

The driver started the car and we drove out.

She took me to some places and talked about how much she would love to go back in time to relive the memories.

We stopped at the temple on our way.

I got down with her and walked in.

I met a huge idol with four hands.

Avanti sought blessings from the priest, whereas I shifted a little and stylishly left without doing what she did.

The priest however called me back

I was like, I'm a Christian and we don't serve such things, he nodded and told me he had called for something else.

He took my hands and looked into my eyes, it almost felt like he was seeing something.

"Your destiny lies here! But never be too hasty to leave,".

He says looking at me.

I pulled my hands away having such a doubtful feeling. The man walked away and I turned to go after Avanti.

Avanti was busy tying some rope around a  tree at the temple.

I looked and watched her finish.

She came back and asked what the priest had called me for.

I told her everything and immediately she laughed.

I'm guessing it's crazy to think my destiny lies here.

Shocking but the truth.

We got to the mall after visiting the temple.

Avanti takes me to the western section and asks me to pick some clothes while she phones her would-be husband.

I nodded and ransacked through the clothes there.

I searched but there was nothing meaningful to buy, it was either the cloth had a strange cutting on the hand or something strange written on it.

I looked out the window hoping I could see Avanti, I didn't but found someone else instead.

Her fiance.

He rode past the western section with a girl beside him.

I got outside and followed them.

They both walked into the shoe section and he sat her down talking with the representative there.

I tried to phone Avanti but it keeps sending me to voicemail.

Isn't he the person she wanted to go out to talk with or did I not listen well?

Avanti was taking time to come and her fiance was about to leave with the girl.

Immediately I took a photo of them leaving holding each other hands and acting so close.

I saved the picture and ran back to see Avanti just coming out of the place I was asked not to leave.

"Hey! Where have you been, I have been looking for you?".

She brings out some shopping bags.

I took some of the time and asked her to come with me.

We got into the car and Avanti kept on asking what happened.

I brought out my phone and showed her the photo I had taken of her fiance and the strange lady with him.
