The odds

I came out of Avanti's room, Mrs. Anuradha saw me leaving her daughter's room and she went In to check up on her.

I went down to get a glass of water, it seemed I wasn't the only one who was thirsty, I also found Abhishek there.

"Hello, you need,".

He turned around and handed me a glass of water.

I gulped down everything and placed the glass on the table, Abhishek looked disturbed, I'm sure it was because of his sister.

I walked close and touched his hands out of concern, Mrs. Anuradha walked in and screamed out in disgust.

"What's happening here," she pulled me away from her son.

Abhishek however tried to make her understand, still, I had painted the villain inside her head.

She humiliated me and accused me of trying to charm her son. Like seriously, charm?, Do I look like a witch?

Everyone ran In, Including Avanti.

She finds her mom shouting at me.

Avanti walked into the scene and dragged me out of her mom's gaze.

She fought back for me.

Mrs. Anuradha wasn't happy, she pulled her hand out to seize her daughter's hand when she tripped and hit her down on a wooden chair.

"Mom,"

Avanti ran to her aid.

Abhishek phoned the daughter, while his father helped her to get up.

She was laid on the couch to rest, Mr...s Anuradha turned her head back and saw me standing with the rest of her family.

She wanted to speak but the Abhishek immediately shouted that the doctor had come.

The doctor had her head bandaged and  Mrs. Anuradha was asked not to worry herself.

Abhishek took her to her bedroom, I was left with Avanti, she got up to leave but felt weak.

I grabbed her hand and sat her down on the sofa.

"Are you okay,".

I said

She nodded and asked me to help her get into her bedroom. I accepted and we both left together.

I laid her down and tucked her to sleep.

The next morning, I heard a noise coming from the living room, I went down and I found out that Avanti was missing, yet again.

I grabbed my phone from the bedroom and tried calling her, as usual, it took me to voicemail.

Abhishek came to find me, he asked if I knew where his sister went to.

I shook my head having no clue, Abhishek and I ran out to search for her.

We went around the city but Avanti wasn't found.  We came back home to tell the news, and Mrs. Anuradha immediately began to cry.

She sits on the ground and beats herself, her husband comes and drags her up, and he asks her not to do anything stupid.

Abhishek informed the police, they came home and everyone was investigated.

Including myself. It seems Mrs. Anuradha had them believe I might know about her daughter's whereabouts.

I told the police everything like I had to swear that I had nothing to do with her daughter's disappearance or had a clue of where she went to.

Avanti's family was very influential, what if someone kidnapped her?

The police left but promised to send search parties around to search for Avanti.

We all sat there in the living room quietly, I thought of going to  Avanti's room to search for anything suspicious.

I turned away. I held the stairs to move up when Abhishek yelled.

Immediately I looked back and saw the stunned look on his face.

Mrs. Anuradha asked him what happened.

I returned and he told, me he had a call for a ransom.

Avanti has been kidnapped.

We all held her faces in awe. Who would kidnap my daughter? Mrs. Anuradha asked herself.

But like I said before, Avanti comes from a wealthy family, and trust me whoever is responsible for this isn't far away.

Mr. Ajay asked his son to prepare the money, it was a sum of five million rupees.

In Indian currency.

Abhishek nodded and immediately phoned the cashier in charge of the family's account.

He rushed to the door but hesitated to leave.

"What's happening son," Mr. Ajay asked.

Abhishek turned back and asked his father to let me come with him, Mrs. Anuradha wasn't accepting, but she was too weak to even say a word.

Mr. Ajay asked me to go with his son, I shook my head and ran after him. We got to the bank and he was taken to meet the accountant in charge of their money.

The man gives him a briefcase, filled with the five million rupees.

We drove to the place of the exchange.

Abhishek asked me to stay in the car and call the police, he had a plan to save his sister that's why he needed me to come with him.

I obeyed and he walked into an abandoned factory. I waited for an hour before calling the police, I phoned the same inspector that come home about the new development, and he asked me not to engage and that he was on his way, I accepted and got the call disconnected.

I waited for another hour for the police to come, I watched the streets like a shark yet I couldn't see them coming.

Abhishek was also taking time to come out, I know he asked me to stay in the car but what if he needs my help?

I left the car and sneaked into the warehouse, on my way in, I heard Abhishek's voice, he was having a heated conversation with a man.

I came in and saw him handcuffed alongside his sister.

The man spoke and wore a mask, that concealed his identity.

He turned his head toward my direction but I hid behind a pillar on time before I could get caught.

It would seem that my odds weren't in favor, my phone rang out in the presence of the goons, I picked up and saw it was the inspector's call.

I tried to switch off the phone, however, a man came out and pointed a gun at my head.

"Hello princess, are you lost,?"

He grabbed my hair and pushed me outside.
