Chapter 148

Emily stood at the window by the hallway of the hospital, glaring at Richard and Barbara who were obviously having an unpleasant moment with each other.

Her heart was beating out of her chest as she tried to decipher what they were talking about.

Barbara’s threats continuously made way into her head as she tried to remain calm and silent.

“Richard would never believe her”, she muttered for the hundredth time as she fixed her gaze on them.

All efforts to take note of their conversation from the window proved abortive and this time, she was left with no option other than opening the door slightly.

She turned the door knob, hoping that the creaking sound wouldn’t draw attention to her. Luckily, it didn’t as they were so engrossed with the argument they were into.
