Chapter 147

Barbara’s eyes shot open some minutes past midnight. She squinted her eyes as she tried to take in the sharp rays of light that struck the sensitive part of her eyes.

“Are you awake?” She heard Richard’s voice and, abruptly, she jerked up with a startled gaze.

Richard had no expression on his face. He was indifferent, except for the slight glint of anger that passed through his eyes at intervals.

“Hi Richard”, Barbara muttered calmly, trying so hard to maintain the illusion of being weak and unable to talk appropriately.

Richard took in a deep breath and stared at her intently. He recalled the look of shock on Emily’s face the moment he asked her if she was really saying the truth.

He needed no one to tell him that this was going to be a tough decision for him. Furthermore, he believed Emily, but still, found it difficult to believe that Barbara would want to take her life by herself.

Silent sobs coming from Barbara caused Richard to raise his head in curiosity.

He found Barbara sniff
