Chapter 146

The ride to the hospital was silent.

Emily was still in shock that for a moment, she was unable to speak to Richard.

She never thought or imagined that Barbara would do something that extreme because of how much she needed to punish her.

“Is that how cruel people can be?” Emily asked herself as tears started dripping down her eyes.

“You haven’t told me what happened between the both of you”, Richard questioned, as he shot her a questioning glare.

Emily kept mute and wondered if Barbara was still going to be alive currently.

“Would she still be alive?” Emily asked in a voice that sounded like a whisper, while Richard sighed deeply.

“Are you ready to tell me what happened?” He asked calmly.

“She tried to kill herself”, Emily divulged and for a minute, silence descended the atmosphere.

Richard did not utter a word, neither did Emily. Richard shifted his gaze back to Emily and asked, “why would she want to do that?”

Emily took in a deep breath as she prepared for the next thing to say.
