4. Saving His Chosen Mate.

Alessandro POV

My wolf, Xander, attacked them. I trusted that I could kill them all because I had a very strong wolf. Xander got some bruises but made sure to maul all of the rogues to death. I could scent the blood, the strong scent of iron as Xander howled loudly in the chilly night. I shifted back to human form and quickly put back my clothes on.

I shifted my gaze to the person beside me. There she was, lying unconscious on the floor. If my instincts hadn't led me to find her, she would have been killed by these bloody rogues.

“Fuck,” I cursed and bent down to check on her.

“Aurora? Aurora!” I tried to make her wake up, but it seemed like my suspicions were confirmed. The shock must have been too much, and she probably fainted. Her pulse was weak, and I knew that I had to take her back immediately to my pack, or else, it could worsen; she could die.

I knew it, felt it, tasted it - every bit of betrayal, and it was sad that my soon-to-be Luna was already pregnant for someone who rejected her.

I quickly carried her on my back and ran as fast as I could out of the woods. My car was parked somewhere which for the love of hell I couldn't remember, but I knew Xander could help me with that. He was no ordinary wolf and had special abilities other wolves didn't have, his instinct was one above every other normal wolf. He was already weak and was bleeding badly. I knew that I had to treat my wolf by meeting the pack doctor, but Aurora was the priority.

It took a few minutes to find my car, and I put her lifeless body in the back. Entering immediately, I ignored the engine and drove off to my pack.

I knew that taking her back to her father was not going to help, as Alpha Ambrose was really angry with her and had disowned her, so I decided to take her to our pack.

Reaching there, I stepped out of the car immediately. The pack borders were lightly guarded, so it meant that some of the sentinels were at the gate. I could see my Beta, Cayden, in front of the packhouse, waiting for me. Immediately he knew it was me, he ran up to me.

“Alpha, your father has been waiting for you. Where have you been?” He asked worriedly. I knew my father would explode after I told him the news, and while I wanted to protect Aurora, I didn't see it as a necessity to hide from my father that she was pregnant.

“You have to help me with this, Cayden. I don't have time to explain to you where I was right now. Call two of the Gammas to take her inside. Call the pack doctor here now,” I ordered.

“What? Her? Who?” He asked.

I went over and opened the back door, and Cayden peeped to see who was inside.

“A woman, Alpha?” he asked. I didn't know what he was thinking with the disbelief expressed in his eyes.

“This is Aurora Graywood, my soon-to-be Luna, Cayden. I will explain things to you later, but you have to do as I say,” I said, with urgency laced in my voice.

“Au… Wasn't she the one who was supposed to be your chosen mate, but who betrayed you?” He asked.

“I don't care if she betrayed me or not, Cayden. She was in great danger when I saw her and I had to save her,” I said.

“But, I don't think your father would accept this. In a few weeks, you will be crowned Alpha, and it is forbidden for the mate of a newly crowned Alpha to belong to someone else,” Cayden said.

I was beginning to get angry and balled my fists. Her life was in danger and he kept spewing things at me.

“That is not what we should worry about now, Cayden. I will never forgive myself if I don't save her. Help me,” I said.

“But, Alessandro…”

“She's pregnant!” I growled at him. “Please. Just do what I say, Cayden. She has a child,” I said, pitifully.

Cayden’s jaw dropped, and I knew he couldn't say anything after that because he was in shock. I didn't tell my father that she was pregnant. I only said that she had an affair with someone else and that they got intimate, but my father was not aware that she was pregnant for him.

“O… okay, I will do as you say. What do you want me to do?” He asked.

“Call two of our gammas to come and take her inside the packhouse. Tell them to take her to the special room meant for the pack doctor to treat me. Call the pack doctor to check her now!” I ordered, and Cayden did as I said.

They took her inside and the pack doctor came to check on her. I told Cayden not to mention it to my father, since he had gone to sleep and ordered everyone to keep silent.

Walking inside the room, I watched as the doctor checked on her, and when he noticed my presence, he turned to me.

“What's wrong with her? Is she going to be alright?” I asked, worried.

“Yes, Alessandro. You don't have to worry. I think she just passed out. Her pulse is really weak. I also noticed that her body is weak, and it seems like she hasn't eaten for some time,” he said.

“What do we do now? How can I give her something to eat?”

“She will wake up in the morning. Don't worry. I've given some supplements to sustain her for that long. You can feed her when she wakes up. I will still be checking up on her, and you can request my presence any time you want,” he said.

“All I want is for her to be okay. I will make sure to call for you if anything happens,” I replied, and the pack doctor nodded.

He turned around to leave but paused for a second. I didn't know what was wrong, or if he wanted to tell me any other thing, but he didn't say a word.

“What happened?” I asked.

He turned around and stared at me with eyes that bore suspicion.

“Is something wrong, Alessandro?” He asked.

I cocked a brow, and squinted, not getting the question.

“What?”

“I have the feeling that you're not okay. I can smell blood, a peculiar bloody scent coming from you,” he said.

I lowered my head in guilt. I was dying inside, as my wolf was bleeding, but I didn't want to say anything because I feared he would be worried and tell my father.

“Nothing is wrong, doc,” I retorted.

He closed his eyes and inhaled deeply.

“Your wolf… is hurt,” he stated, and my eyes widened. Well, it wasn't so much of a surprise. He always had a special connection with me since childhood.

He figured it out. I knew I couldn't hide it for long. He could detect the slightest of things because he was that good. That's why the pack hired him to be the special doctor for the royal family.

“Y…yes,” I admitted. No other choice. I had to. “Xander is bleeding.”

“You know if he dies, you die, and you don't care.”

“Not that I don't care, but…”

“You're afraid that your father might think she caused it?” He said, completing exactly what I had in mind.

 How did he know?

Glaring at me, he requested, “Lie down and shift. Let me treat your wolf.”
