Aurora POV
“Forget about everything we had, Aurora. Last night was only a mistake. Erase it all from your memory.”
I froze in shock, stifling a gasp. Fear ripped through me as I heard the words of the man standing in front of me. His eyes were cold, glaring at me with pure disdain.
I raised my brow in surprise. My mind held a cluster of thoughts, and I was utterly confused, speechless by how he was behaving.
“What do you mean? Forget about what exactly?” I asked him, with anxiety running through me already.
“Everything. About last night, us together, our love story, our relationship. Everything. Forget about it. I want you to forget about whatever we had together. I only used you for my own lusty desires, nothing more,” he said, running his hand over his face, covering it.
I gasped in surprise. Who was the monster in front of me? This wasn't the man I knew last night, the man I knew for years, my loving boyfriend. Why was he acting so cold? The thoughts swept across my mind like a flood, and as a clueless dimwit I was, I had no answer to it.
“Why are you saying this, Adrian? Is the alcohol from last night still…”
“Shut up,” he retorted immediately. “I am saying this with my clear mind, Aurora. I know that you must have woken up this morning thinking about last night, having high hopes that you would be my mate after what happened between us, but I'm sorry to crush your hopes,” he said, furrowing his brows in anger.
My heart was beginning to beat faster for fear of losing him.
Adrian was my boyfriend of seven years. He was the soon-to-be alpha of the Moonshadow Pack, a rival pack to that of my father's. Even though our parents were sworn enemies, I found myself waltzing into his life, and since then, had hopes that he would one day mark me as his mate.
I had given everything to him, and last night, my virginity topped the list. I loved him so much to trust that he would mark me. Even though we weren't fated mates, he had promised to announce me his mate. With the power of love, we believed we could end our parents’ enmity, but the man standing in front of me seemed to be so different from who I knew last night.
“What are you saying, Adrian? I think we can talk this through,” I said, raising my hands to wrap them around his neck, but he grabbed them, pulling them off him.
“Don't ever touch me again, Aurora. Did you really think that with all that is going on between your father and mine, I would love you?”
“But you told me you loved me, Adrian. You even had a fated mate, but you told me you didn't want anyone else other than me. Why are you saying this?” I asked, feeling the tears brimming in my eyes.
“And that's the reason why you are foolish because you were gullible to believe me. I'm in love with my fated mate, not you. It was a plan all along. I wanted to hurt the most important thing to your father, and that's you,” he said, smirking, as cruelty danced in his eyes.
I couldn't believe my ears. Was he the one saying this? Who was this monster in front of me? He had so many evil plans, and I was a fool to believe him.
“You can't do this to me, Adrian. Sexual relationships between mates seal and strengthen their bond. You can't do this to me, Adrian. Please, come back to your senses,” I begged, tears stinging harsh, I couldn't choke it back.
“You are not my fated mate, Aurora. You're only a mateless whore who goes around trusting random guys and giving herself away to them. This is what people will call you from now on when they learn the truth. You have a chosen mate, right? Guess what will happen? I'm sure he will also leave you,” Adrian mouthed with pure disdain.
Tears rolled down my eyes. I didn't know that it was his plan all along. For several years, he was planning to ruin my life.
“I don't care what happened between us. I just used you for my own interests," Adrian said, with cold murky eyes. I could see the hatred in them, a strong detest for me.
Someone I gave my all to was now rebuking me, and calling me a mistake in his life, rejecting me, and the love I had for him. My whole world was shattering before my very eyes, yet, there was nothing I could do.
“Adrian, please…” Before I could beg him, he pronounced the most shattering words I have ever heard.
“I, Adrian Huntley, future Alpha of the Moonshadow Pack, reject you, Aurora Graywood, for my chosen mate, and break all bonds with you. Whether you accept the rejection or not, it is over between us. I never want to see you again.”
Tears rolled down my cheeks. I couldn't even come to terms with the grief I was feeling. The anxiety that burned through me, mixed with his heartbreaking cold words made me want to kill myself.
I should die. I needed to. Death should just take me away.
He turned around, and I grabbed his arm.
“Please, don't do this, Adrian. I can't live without you,” I begged, almost as if my life would end if he took one step further away from me.
“If you can't live without me, then die. You can go and kill yourself, Aurora. I don't care what happens to you now,” he said, flinching, and walking over to the bed to grab his shirt. He wore them, and put on back his pants, dressing up, without even looking at me, while I cried and sobbed right in front of him.
My world was over. What would happen now? What if he leaked the truth about our relationship to my father to make my father feel like a loser? That would make me feel like a disgrace.
Adrian grabbed his car keys, and walked past me, barging his shoulder against mine, making me fall to the ground, still crying.
“Till we see no more!” He snarled, leaving the room.
And those words, so few yet lethal, killed my hopes of loving anyone forever, leaving me to die in the guilt of my stupid sins.
My phone buzzed on the bed, ringing. I turned around reluctantly, picking it up. Seeing my sister calling, I wiped my tears immediately.
“Where are you, Aurora? Dad is furious. He's been asking for you,” she shrieked, with heavy worry laced in her voice.
Exactly what I was afraid of – my father knowing about my absence from the pack last night.
“Help me out with a lie, Riley. I am on my way there. You'd see me in no time,” I told her, knowing she would always cover up for me.
“My head is blank at the moment, Aurora. I told him that you had to get something important, and he's been asking what it was. Where exactly are you?” She asked again.
“I am…”
No. I shouldn't tell her. It would make things complicated.
“What?”
“I was out for something. I will tell you later. First, just wash him off with something,” I said, with strong terror in me.
Only my father's gaze was enough to make one shiver, and I wondered what I would be doing hearing him scold me.
“Come quickly. He knows I'm calling you, so I'd just find a lie to tell. Hurry now,” she said.
I hung up before she even said goodbye. Grabbing my small bag on the couch, I ran out of the room immediately, not even speaking to the receptionist to inform her that we had vacated the room. I had to rush to our pack immediately.
Reaching there, I could feel my feet beginning to wobble. Just the thought of facing my father made me fear, and I wondered what he would say.
I walked into the pack house and was greeted by two servants. Ignoring them, I headed inside. The living room seemed to be empty, as I found no one apart from the servants working around. We lived in the building in front of the pack house behind, and my father chose for us to have our own special house as the Alpha family.
I tiptoed my way inside, trying not to be heard.
“And where do you think you're sneaking into, Aurora?”
The voice, thunderous and throaty, shook my core, making me halt in my steps.
Oh no, goddess, please save me!
I turned around, and behold, the man I feared the most in this world – my father. He stood tall, glaring at me with bloodshot red eyes. No one needed to tell me that I was in hot soup. My fingers knotted behind my back, and I swallowed hard, digesting my heart throbbing in my throat.“I… I didn't want to disturb the peace of the house, so I…”“You tried to sneak in? Where were you last night?” He cut me off before I even stuttered out the lies. I felt a thud in my chest, and shook my head immediately as I cleared my throat.“I had to get something important, father. Unluckily, I didn't find what I was looking for, so I had to lodge at night, and come home today, because it was late,” I replied, straightening up. I didn't know how bad of a liar I was and I could read the suspicion in his eyes, proof that he didn't believe me.“And what was that? What did you want to get that made you stay away?” “Eh… uh… it was…”“I will talk about this matter later, and if I find out you are lying
Three Weeks Later.“What the hell did you just say? That's not possible!” My father growled, staring with fiery eyes at the doctor, burning with rage. “That's what the test says, Alpha Ambrose. I dare not lie to you, Alpha,” the doctor, an elderly and fairly aged man, trembling in front of my father, said.“What did you say? What's wrong with her?”“She's pregnant.” My heart stopped beating for a fraction of a second, and my guts sank. The news resounded in my ear, and I wondered if I heard right. I had felt sick for the past weeks, and my father had the pack doctor come examine me. “No way! My daughter cannot be pregnant. How the hell is that even possible?” Dad said, furiously. The anxiety was beginning to spring up in me, and I felt my bones weakening. My head was clouded with a lot of thoughts about how I could be pregnant. It wasn't that I didn't know the cause, yet, it was just that this was the end for me.“That's what the test says, Alpha. She has been throwing up and ha
Alessandro POVMy wolf, Xander, attacked them. I trusted that I could kill them all because I had a very strong wolf. Xander got some bruises but made sure to maul all of the rogues to death. I could scent the blood, the strong scent of iron as Xander howled loudly in the chilly night. I shifted back to human form and quickly put back my clothes on. I shifted my gaze to the person beside me. There she was, lying unconscious on the floor. If my instincts hadn't led me to find her, she would have been killed by these bloody rogues.“Fuck,” I cursed and bent down to check on her.“Aurora? Aurora!” I tried to make her wake up, but it seemed like my suspicions were confirmed. The shock must have been too much, and she probably fainted. Her pulse was weak, and I knew that I had to take her back immediately to my pack, or else, it could worsen; she could die. I knew it, felt it, tasted it - every bit of betrayal, and it was sad that my soon-to-be Luna was already pregnant for someone who
“Alpha, your father is here!” Cayden, my Beta rushed into the room, his voice laced with worry. His loud call was enough to jerk me up from my slumber. I didn't realize when I fell asleep, but what I did know was that Aurora was beside me, still unconscious. I rubbed the sleep off my eyes as I stared at the panicking body language of my Beta.“What's wrong, Cayden?” I asked him.“Your father is here. He's rushing to this room immediately, and he's furious,” he said. I look at him with surprise. How did the information get to my father immediately that I came home late last night? As much as it was what was on my mind, I hoped it wasn't what I was thinking.“What? Why is he angry?” Cayden grew silent. The guilty expression on his face gave me the answers I needed. He had spilled everything to my father. “Eh… I'm really sorry Alessandro, I just…”“You told my father that I brought her here, didn't you?” I asked.“I didn't have any choice. 9 MONTHS LATER"And it's a bouncy baby boy.” The words rang in my ears, waking my faint heart from the rest I had longed for. I muscled myself to sit up from the bed, raising my head to look at the nurse who was in front of me. She handed him to me, his mildly heavy body landing in my arms. Immediately, a bundle of joy gushed over my heart. I smiled, gazing with love and compassion into his dearly eyes. “M-my baby.” Tears stung my eyes as emotions flooded over me. It was a very long and hard labor. After several hours of agony, my baby survived. That was my biggest happiness. “You can feed him now. I will be back to administer some drugs,” she said, turning around to leave the room, sparing me a moment with my newborn. Tears rolled down my cheeks, as strong guilt ripped through me. The resentment of my mistake overwhelmed the joy of my baby. If only it had never happened. I wish I wasn't left to carry his child all alone. I wish he never betrayed me, leaving me with the burden of
Adrian POVIt's been 5 years, but I still miss her. Till today, I regret rejecting her and I have not been okay ever since, recollecting the years of our deep love. Sucked out of my reminiscence, I bit my lower lips, shutting my eyes close in utter disgust at the woman before me. I couldn't believe that this was who the goddess blessed, or should I say cursed me with. Mates were supposed to be a blessing to one's life, but it felt like mine was a bad omen. She was the venom in my bones, the very bane of my existence.“Please, Adrian, I need to go with you,” she whined, clinging to me. I tried to mask my irritated face from her. Analyn was my fated mate. I believed that the goddess had a plan for us and I initially felt attracted to her, driven by my desires because she possessed curves in the right places and a beautiful face and body. However, over the years, I grew bored with her. She was a pain in the neck always, wanting me to do what I would rather not.“You are not going wit
“Luna, Alpha Alessandro is waiting. He asks for your presence.” I turned around, distracted from staring at my figure in the mirror, and looked at my personal maid, who wore a sweet contagious smile that exposed her pearly white teeth. She walked into the room and bowed her head at me. Today was a special occasion. It was the annual meet of Alphas, hosted by the Alpha King of the City and, of course, Alessandro was to be in attendance, and I had to follow him there, my first time doing so. I didn't perform many duties as a wife; never once did I consider myself one. Alessandro and I had become really close, and he whisked the responsibility of being the father of my child. Then, after becoming the Alpha of the pack, he announced me as his Luna–a night I still remember to this day. Flushing the thoughts down the drain, I looked at the two ornaments that laid on the polished table, unsure of what to choose. I stood frozen, my eyes locked on the familiar stranger before me. The name echoed in my mind and clung to me like an undying curse. Five years had passed since he shattered my world, yet the wound still throbbed like an open sore. I gulped down hard, consumed by his potent scent. My eyes faltered, and I blinked severally, trying to calm myself down. Anya, my wolf, was beginning to get upset, wanting to come off. She was as hurt by his betrayal as I had been. His eyes, once bright with warmth, now seemed to hold a mixture of surprise, written off with guilt. My hands tightened on its palm as the feeling of anxiety mixed with resentment snaked through me. The surrounding air thickened with tension, and the movement of everyone seemed to pass like a blur as my eyes locked in an intense moment with Adrian. He moved a step closer, and I broke the moment, rolling my eyes away as I turned around to leave, when his husky and miserable voice called my name. “Au-Aurora?” He called, wit
Alessandro POV I couldn't believe that after all these years, the goddess would decide to bring back, like an unwanted memory, the man who betrayed my Luna and an enemy of my own, Adrian. As much as I didn't want to think about it, it was getting me more perturbed than I had imagined. The scene replayed in my head. How his deceitful eyes held what seemed like remorse, and how he came close to Aurora while she looked at him with faltering eyes. All of it just made me worried. I was starting to feel lost in everything. I didn't know why, but the sensation burning through me wasn't good. It was like an alert, an alert of a future danger. As much as I wanted to forget, I wouldn't make the mistake of treating the whole situation blithely. I shrugged as my eyes scanned the entire hall. The celebration was in full swing, and typically, the Alphas would have a private meeting with the Alpha King to discuss issues, while the rest of the guests were served food and drink. The place stunk of
