The Proposal

I threw him off guard with that one. It was only for a second that I could see it on his face, but it was there.

He put his hand up to his face and ran it down the front, giving an exasperated sigh while doing so.

I waited to hear his response to my spiel. The longer I stood there, the longer the silence stretched out between us.

I shifted my weight back and forth. Was he waiting for me to speak up? Or was he seeing how long I could hold out if he kept silent?

News flash Mr. Big Bad Wolf. I can stand here all day and you will be the first one to break the silence.

We continued to stand there in silence for another minute or two.

“This is ridiculous.” Aerona whined. “Just tell him your proposal. I can feel his wolf and his wolf doesn’t want to reject us.”

“Really Aerona? Are you sure?”

I didn’t want to get my hopes up too much, but if Aerona and Asher’s wolf were communicating, I knew that was a good sign.
