Jessy’s POV:
“She still doesn’t have her wolf?”“How sad is that?”“I wonder how she can walk with her head held high when she clearly doesn’t belong here.”The whispers around me were enough to drive me crazy and I blinked quickly to stop the tears that were threatening to fall, while increasing my pace towards the field where the rest of my family was gathered. This has been happening for years, since the night of my eighteenth birthday where I was supposed to unite with my wolf but that had not happened. It had driven the entire pack crazy and the rumors and conspiracy theories had began circulating and never stopped till this day.I was after all the golden girl, the daughter of the mighty Alpha Greyson and Luna Freya. Two of the most powerful people in the world, it was a wonder to everyone, how I had Alpha blood and instead of a strong powerful wolf I was left with nothing and every day since that night, living in this pack had been hell.No one touched me, they wouldn’t, not unless they had a death sentence, and no one ever tried to assault me either physically or verbally, but the dirty looks that I got when I had to be outside, the whispers that were loud enough for me to hear, the pointing, the subtle sneering I heard whenever I had to walk down the streets, they were enough to send a clear message and that hurt more than any physical or verbal assault could.“Jess! Hurry up, we’re losing! Dad and Kyla keep cheating.” Kevin my brother yelled as I walked into the field and I sniffed once, running a hand through my face to make sure no tears had slipped past my eyes.My entire family was overprotective of me, from my father to my mother to my twin brothers and I loved them for it but it only strengthened the whispers that said I was weak so a part of me resented it. I wasn’t necessarily weak, even though I didn’t have a wolf, I could still hold my ground thanks to my father’s trainings but sometimes I did feel like I was weak and it was one of the saddest things ever.“Did you get it princess?” My father asked and I nodded my head still unable to talk for fear of breaking down in tears.“Are you alright honey? Did something happen?” My father asked once more, taking the bottle of water that I offered him.“I’m fine, but I think I’m going to leave now, Lila just called and wants to hang out and I think I’ve had enough boys around me today.” I teased, trying my best to sound okay.“What do you mean? You love us!” Kevin chirped from the side stealing Kyla’s snack. The latter let him do it and I rolled my eyes at the sight.Kevin was the problem twin, in fact he was the problem child out of the three of us while Kyla was the sweet boy that everyone fell in love with, the twins had different physiques and different personalities, but they loved each other dearly and it was fun to watch them together. While Kevin was big and already quite muscular at sixteen, Kyla was the complete opposite, he could easily pass as a girl with his shoulder length hair and his smaller frame and while Kevin was loud boisterous. Kyla was quiet and calm.I gave each of the twin a kiss on the head before kissing my dad’s cheek and picking up my bag to exit the field. It had become a tradition for us to come down here every once in a while and just hang out, we had been doing this for as long as I could remember and although it was usually always fun and I genuinely enjoyed spending time with my family, it was starting to get overwhelming for me.Everything was starting to get overwhelming the longer I stayed within this pack. I wasn’t happy, I didn’t feel as fulfilled as I had always dreamed, it didn’t really feel like there was a future here for me anymore or if there was then maybe I needed a long break from it and then I could return to it at a later time. When I was in a much better headspace.I made my way home, plugging in my earplugs to drown out the noise and distract myself as I went. I couldn’t hear the noises around me but I could see the frowns and sneers all of which I ignored till I was walking through the large gates of my home.“Mom, I’m home!” I announced, heading towards the stairs. The only thing I needed at the moment, was a hot bath and sleep.“Welcome honey, come in here, Lila is here.” My mother called from the kitchen and I frowned slightly.I know I had said I wanted to hang with her but that had been an excuse to get back home so I could sleep. I made my way into the kitchen surprised to find Lila dicing some carrots beside Christie, our head maid who kept adding more washed carrots to the stack. My mother was at the other end, stirring something over the stove.”“Hi Jess. I left you a couple of texts that I’d be coming but I don’t think you saw them.” Lila said and I nodded.“Sorry, I haven’t really been able to check my phone. How are you?” I asked, pulling out a knife and another board to assist her.“I’m alright. I’ve missed you.” She responded and I gave her a small smile.Lila was the only friend in the entire pack I had managed to get and actually keep since my only other friend disappeared completely from my life. We were complete opposites with the things we liked and with our personalities but somehow we made it work.“How was your hangout with your father and brothers? Sorry I couldn’t join you guys I didn’t feel so good.” My mother said and I gave her a little run down of all the things we had done and we all shared a couple of laughs at some point, before she decided that we had helped enough and chased us out so we could properly hangout.“Are you okay? I didn’t want to ask in the kitchen cause I didn’t want your mom to get worried, but you don’t exactly look fine.” Lila said the moment we entered the room.I flopped onto my Queen sized bed, buried my head in the pillows and just broke down. It was all too much for me, I didn’t feel happy here, I didn’t feel like I belonged here anymore and I hated the hatred that I got outside of my father’s mansion. I also hated pretending like it didn’t get to me.“What’s wrong Jessy? You can talk to me.” Lila said, moving closer to me to stroke my hair comfortingly while I bawled my eyes into my pillow. It took a while for me to stop crying but eventually I did and as I turned towards Lila to find the worry dancing in her eyes, I knew that I had to open up to someone about this.“I don’t think I can take it anymore. I hate my life here. I hate the whispers and the stares and the pointing and people avoiding me on the streets like I have some kind of disease.”“Oh honey, but you don’t. You’re perfectly fine just the way you are. Why don’t you tell your father about it?”“That’s the thing! Running to him would only strengthen their whispers. They are not hurting me and there’s barely anything he can do about whispers and finger pointings. I think I just need to leave. I just want to meet new people, experience a different community with people who don’t even know who I am, or rather who my father is cause most of the problems start from there. One mention of my father’s name and they already know who and what I am. And if they don’t whisper and gossip about me then they are trying to get close to me for personal gains, the cycle is exhausting.” I said, curling up on my bed and facing my window, watching the sun slowly set.Lila remained quiet for a long time but I refused to turn towards her, she spoke again after a while.“Well, what if I told you that there’s a pack you could go to where no one would know who you are, unless you told them.” Lila insisted and I sighed heavily, I wasn’t sure what she was hoping to achieve with this, but I really didn’t appreciate the false hope.“Listen to me Jessy. I’m not joking about this, you know how I’ve had to travel so much in these last couple of months. I really didn’t want to mention this until I was a hundred percent sure about everything and about where I stood but I met this man three months ago on one of my trips, turns out he’s the Alpha of a newly established pack far away from here, the pack mostly accepts the rogues, the unfit and the ones who don’t belong.” Lila said and I sat up quickly on my bed now interested in what she had to say.“How come I’ve never heard of this pack before? Every pack has to go through a list of approval from my father and then there’s a feast of the Alphas which happens every year and every Alpha has to attend. I don’t see how this is possible. What’s this Alpha’s name?” I asked, genuinely confused and skeptical.“Arthur. He created his own pack and cut it from the rest of the world because he didn’t want himself or his people to have to be under laws that have had flaws since their very beginnings. No offense to your father. I’m only telling you about this because I’m sure it’s what you need at the moment, I can tell you’re not happy here Jess, and it breaks my heart watching you fall apart piece by piece the longer you stay here.I can’t guarantee that you’ll find happiness in Arthur’s pack, but I swear that you’ll fit in. You’ll find people like yourself, people who understand you, people who wouldn’t try to discriminate you because you don’t fit their definition of normal and I think that might be exactly what you need at this point in your life.” Lila concluded. She was right. That was exactly what I needed, but it sounded too good to be true. All I have known is the protection and care from underneath my father’s wing, even when the rest of the world seemed to be against me. Would I be able to survive it if I dropped that? In my heart, I knew that I wanted to move, but was I ready for it? Especially moving to somewhere so uncertain?“Just think about it and talk to your parents about it, they really don’t have to know where you’re going, you know they’re just going to track you down eventually and that’s not what you need right now and that could also cause certain problems for Arthur. Talk to your parents about moving and I’ll talk to Arthur about letting you stay without revealing your true identity to him. What do you think?” She asked and I nodded in response.“I’ll do that. Thank you so much for the offer, I appreciate it more than you know.” I said, inching closer to her and wrapping my arms around her in a hug.“Girls, come down for dinner!” My mother shouted from downstairs and Lila and I shared a laugh.I rushed into the bathroom to wash my face before coming out and heading downstairs, before my mother came up here to pull me down herself. The woman was really small, but her strength was unmatched.Lila’s words kept playing in my head as I made my way down the stairs and the more I considered the option, the more beautiful it sounded. It really was what I needed. All I needed to do was convince my parents to let me leave and that would be it.Viola! New life! What could go wrong?Jessy’s POV: “Hi uncle Smith!” I called out when I found the man sat on the table already piling his plate high with food. “There’s my favorite niece.” He called, standing up from the table to pull me into a hug. “I’m the only niece you have Uncle Smith.” I reminded him, accepting the hug that he offered and he let out a loud laughter. “That’s why you’re my favorite I’ve missed you so much, do you know how difficult it’s been this last week with no one to gossip with? Hi Lila, it’s good to see you again.” Uncle Smith said and I giggled, taking my seat at the table. It was amazing the kind of energy the man possessed sometimes, he could hold a conversation with everyone at the table and be able to keep up with every single one. How he did it? I could never know, but I loved having him around, he was a burst of fresh air always and I genuinely enjoyed his company. “How did the rest of your day go baby girl?” My father asked and I nodded my head making sure to swallow before I resp
Five Years Earlier: “Smile!” My mother said excitedly and I offered a small smile, one that grew wider when Simon draped his hands over my shoulder and gave the biggest smile. My mother clicked the camera to take the picture and I turned towards her completely horrified. “Mom! I wasn’t ready, I was still watching Simon smile his weird smile.” I said rushing after the woman that was already scrolling through the pictures with a wide smile on her face. “Oh, it doesn’t matter honey. These are so cute, you both have to come in soon so you can cut your cake, okay? I’m going to show these to your father.” She said and before I could respond she was already heading back into the house. “Happy birthday once again Jess. Sorry I got here late, Emilia spent hours trying to pick out the perfect fit.” Simon apologized and I shook my head, chuckling a little bit. “It’s okay, I’m really glad you made it in time. I barely get to see you these days and it’s really sad.” I said, smiling when Simo
Jessy’s POV:It really was him, he looked like a completely different person. He was all man now, gone was the lanky boy with a weird smile that was in my sixteenth birthday picture. He no longer looked like the nerdy teenager that knew something about everything and screamed nerd from his appearance alone. His body was all filled out now, he was taller with broad shoulders and strong looking arms, he had changed so much but not just in his appearance, it was also in the way he carried himself, it felt so different being around him.“Nice to meet you Jessy. It’s good to have you here.” Simon said, offering his hand for a shake with a smile on his face. I frowned, was he really going to pretend like he didn’t know me? I thought, but I didn’t say anything, accepting the hand that he stretched towards me. The moment our fingers touched, I snatched mine away quickly, it felt as if I had been burned and not in a good way at all but when I looked at the man before me and he didn’t look af
Arthur’s POV: “We had a couple of new additions to the pack yesterday. It’s a family of omegas, they left their pack because of how badly they were treated. Turns out they had heard about us and wanted to give it a try. Father, mother and a pup of about three years. I helped then get settled already, but I need to know when you’ll be free to have a talk with them.” Stephen, my Beta delivered and I frowned at the information. “Tomorrow is fine. Lila is bringing a new addition to the pack, I don’t have much information on her but I trust Lila to not compromise the safety of the pack. I’m just a little worried.” I said, leaning against my seat, tapping the pen softly against the table in front of me. “Why? What’s the problem?” “We’re growing bigger and bigger everyday. We’ve got all sorts of people here and although there’s no cause for concern at the moment I’m just worried that the bigger we grow the more troubles that will arise, the more question would be asked and the more the r
Jessy’s POV:My eyes felt like led had been placed against them, I struggled for a moment before I could get them to open and when I finally did, it took a moment before my vision could clear up. Goddess, I had cried so much last night. I didn’t remember falling asleep, but I had woken up sometime in the night to change out of my clothes and then after crying some more I had eventually fallen asleep again. I moved to the small bathroom that had been adjoined to the room and after brushing my teeth, I rinsed my face, wincing when I looked into the mirror and my red eyes stared back me. The events of the previous night was still very fresh in my memory and I knew that it would be for a long time, I was still trying to wrap my head around everything and I hated how overwhelming the situation was and the fact that I had nobody to talk to about any of it. A part of me wanted to call my mom because I knew she would be the easiest to understand me but she had never been good with keeping
I quickly recovered from the shock though when the new wolf began heading in my direction, baring it’s teeth in what looked like anger. I couldn’t remember what I could have done to upset him but I waited with bated breath as he approached me with bared teeth, I didn’t have the strength to try to run anymore, especially knowing that I wasn’t going to get very far and there was obviously nowhere for me to hide. The wolf stopped in front of me and it dawned on me how tiny I was compared to it, but it didn’t lunge and attack like I expected, instead he begins transforming and in a couple of seconds a very naked Simon was standing in front of me. A rush of emotions ran through me at the sight of him. Relief, because I didn’t think I would have been able to deal with it, if it had been another predator, heat, to my face and to somewhere between my legs. I couldn’t be exactly blamed for that one. When I said, Simon had changed, I meant it. His body could be described as perfection, it wou
Arthur’s POV: I was burning. With a lot of different emotions that I couldn’t even hope to explain. He didn’t have the right. And the way she had looked at him? Almost as if he had hung the moon. She used to always look at me like that, I still had many pictures that proved it, but now whenever she looked at me, her eyes were filled with anger. I didn’t know how to deal with that and I hated it so much. But I hated seeing her look at Stephen the way she did even more. I watched as the warriors trained the newer recruits and although everything in me yearned to go over and join them, especially since the majority of then were having difficulties landing very simple techniques but I was too angry if move from my car. I heard Stephen’s bike from almost a mile away and my fists clenched and unclenched by themselves.Soon I watched as he pulled into the parking lot with his boyish smile that was almost permanent painting his lips and lighting up his face. Everything in me wanted to go
Jessy’s POV:I watched as Lila furiously typed ok her phone from the couch in front of me. She had been in a bad mood since I came back and I was surprised because I had been expecting her to be in a pleasant mood from spending the night with her boyfriend. The thought didn't exactly make me happy but I had been expecting it, but since I got back from my run she had been moody and was continually tapping away at her phone screen. “Are you okay?” I asked and when she raised her head to look at me, it was easy to see the anger in her eyes. “Yes. Why?” She asked and I shifted uncomfortably in my seat. “Well, for one you’ve been really quiet for a while now and then you’ve been typing quite furiously on your phone. Are you okay?” Lila sighed heavily and she dropped her phone just beside her to turn to face me. Offering me a small smile which I returned before she spoke. “I’m really sorry about my attitude. I’ve just been really upset.” She revealed. “Do you want to talk about it?” I
ArthurThe vast field stretched before me, a sea of green under the clouding sky. I sighed, frowning lightly as the sound of Stephen’s bike coming to a halt echoed in the distance, interrupting the calmness that I was just starting to enjoy. I turned around, squinting in the direction of the noise, my frown deepening as I spotted him getting off the bike with Jessy by his side. They began walking towards me hand in hand. A trail of jealousy skittered down my spine, causing me to clench my fist involuntarily. She had a wide smile on her face and although they were still pretty far away from me, I could almost hear the giggle that escaped her lips when Stephen leaned in to whisper in her ears. The sight of them together never failed to make my blood boil. I hated it. No matter how much I tried to lie to myself that I didn’t care, it never worked. I hated seeing them together so much. The closer they got, the better I could see their faces and although Jessy still had a smile across h
Jessy The rays of sunshine filtered into the room, illuminating it. I stirred, wincing slightly as I searched blindly for my phone. It was just a little past 7AM, the park run wasn’t until another two hours and Stephen was coming to pick me up.I stretched lazily as I made my way out of my bed, slipping my feet into a comfortable pair of slippers before heading out of the room, “Lila?” I called, stifling a yawn.My voice echoed throughout the house but no response came. I knocked lightly on her door twice, before pushing it open and I frowned. Her bed was made, she didn't sleep in it.I felt my heart sink into my stomach, an anxious ache budding in my temple as I scurried back to my room in search of my phone.I called Lila immediately I picked up the device, but it went straight to voicemail. Panic set in and I could feel my fingers trembling.‘Call me…please.’ I typed quickly, hitting send and watching the message for a while.I called multiple times, all with the same result.
JessyThe café was almost empty, save for a few occupied tables. I bent over, humming a familiar tune as I wiped a table. The sound of the bell rang out faintly in my mind, announcing the entrance of someone. I straightened, turning as soon as the customer's chair scraped across the floor, I looked up from where I stood and locked eyes with Stephen. He was sitting, facing me with a wide grin etched on his face. His hair seemed slightly disheveled but for some weird reasons, I found that adorable. Stephen got to his feet, placing a pair of dark shades on the table. “You’re on time.” I greeted, walking into his open arms as I soaked in the warmth of his embrace. He stole a glance at the leather piece strapped to his wrist, “Actually, I’m seven minutes early.” His lips brushed against my hair as he spoke and I smiled. He had texted me earlier in the day to ask if we could hang out at my place right after work hours and I had said yes. Lila wouldn’t be home just yet and I could use a l
Jessy The night air caressed my skin, sending a light shiver down my spine. The view was very beautiful, coming second only to the view of the sunset from the training ground. I felt Stephen’s hand snake around my waist, tugging me closer and I let myself melt into his embrace, taking a subtle sniff of his cologne. There was an air of calmness around him, one that felt different from anything I had ever experienced and I found it soothing. His entire aura was different; not intimidating or dark, just different. “Thank you.” I said, peeling my eyes off the night view to look at him. His smile was still intact, and his eyes glistened with a boyish charm, “For..?” He arched a brow questioningly as he spoke. I shrugged lightly, “Everything I guess, you’ve been so sweet and… you always show me the best view.” His fingers danced absently on my stomach as I spoke and he chuckled at my words, the vibration causing me to close my eyes briefly, my smile widening as I let myself enjoy this
Jessy’s POV: I flipped my eyes open and the ease I felt was one that I was starting to get used to. Coming here was a good idea and I was starting to feel it. I flipped open my eyes and the darkness in the room greeted me. Although I didn’t have a wolf my senses were still pretty sharp and I easily adjusted to the darkness in the room. I knew that it was still pretty early but I felt rested enough already and so I sat up in bed before reaching to turn on the lamp beside the bed. The dim lights flooded the room and I pulled my phone out of charging before going through my texts. There were a couple from my brothers and my father had also sent me a message, he was doing better than I expected and I was impressed that he was actually letting me be. I scrolled further down and found a text from Stephen. It was a simple message asking how I was doing and it made me smile. I had gone to bed earlier last night and that was why I missed the text in the first place but since I started wor
Arthur A bright light shone in my direction, forcing me to put up my hand to shield my eyes. The loud cheering of the crowd grew even louder as I stepped forward, trying to adjust to the sudden burst of light. “Fight, fight, fight, fight!” Was all they yelled, thrumming in unison, like a heartbeat pulsing through the arena. I staggered, my vision adjusting as the figure of a man came to view. He was two times my size, with a physique sculpted from pure muscle and a hardened expression of rage. His long brown hair poured over his shoulders like a waterfall, its wet strands clinging to his skin. A loose cloth was tied protectively around his waist and as he moved, it danced wildly in sync with his movements. He wiped his feet against the sand, slamming his open palm against his chest intimidatingly, his eyes never leaving mine. The crowd seemed to love it as they cheered, screamed and rattled the very foundation of the cage. A pile of bodies lined the side entrance of the cage, a
Jessy’s POV: My steady breathing did nothing to reduce the rapid palpitation of my heart. Why hadn’t Lila mentioned it? I crossed my fingers, willing myself to act nonchalant. “Woah, relax. It’s nothing too intense, besides, it doesn’t happen often.” Stephen said, obviously noticing my worried expression. I forced a light scoff, “Sorry, I just detest any kind of physical activity.” “I can tell.” He said, tugging me lightly into his arms, “I’m sure you’d be fine. Also, I can’t wait to see you in all your beauty.” I shrugged away from his grasp, his last sentence upsetting me in a way I was certain he hadn’t intended. “Let me walk you out.” I managed to say, clearing my throat as I gestured towards the door. He said nothing in protest, simply held the door open as he followed my lead. The sky was now dark and the streets were only illuminated by the street lamps that stood at either side of the roads. The light caught on Stephan’s face and his boyish and handsome features surp
Jessy's POV: My heart began hammering in its cage but surprisingly she didn't turn to acknowledge me, she only walked straight up to Ashley and I watched as the poor girl shivered in fear. The woman just had an edge around her that made her look so dangerous, her aura was disturbing, and even as far away as she was, I could still feel it from here and it had goosebumps rising on my skin. “Hey,” Stephen called, tapping on my hand to get my attention. “Are you okay?” He asked again and I offered him a small smile. “Of course, can we get out of here though?” I asked and he nodded. “Of course, I’ll just pack these up and we could have them in my spot. Come on.” “Your spot?” I asked but he was already headed for Ashley to ask for a bag. I made my way out of the cafe, hoping that the fresh evening breeze would help get rid of the fear that had plagued me at seeing the woman, but only a couple of seconds later she exited the building, once again no words were exchanged, I only watched
Jessy’s POV: I dashed out of the office to find one of the boys that I had found when I came in on the floor, while the other had a hand covering his face from where he had been hit no doubt.“You worthless piece of shit! How dare you question me? You should be grateful I even let you breathe. You're both nothing without me, how dare you question me? Have you lost your mind? I should hit you again for tha-” the man began saying again, moving to make good on his threat. “Not here. As much as I want to hit you for doing this, I know it's not going to work out well for me so get out of this place and the boys are welcome back any time but you're banned from this place. I don’t want to ever see your face again. Get out.” Michelle said and the man turned angry eyes towards her. He began stalking towards the older woman and I moved to stand in front of her. Taking my best threatening stance, my days of training with my father came to the front of my mind. “She already asked you to leave
