16. Footprints

Arthur

A bright light shone in my direction, forcing me to put up my hand to shield my eyes. The loud cheering of the crowd grew even louder as I stepped forward, trying to adjust to the sudden burst of light.

“Fight, fight, fight, fight!” Was all they yelled, thrumming in unison, like a heartbeat pulsing through the arena.

I staggered, my vision adjusting as the figure of a man came to view. He was two times my size, with a physique sculpted from pure muscle and a hardened expression of rage.

His long brown hair poured over his shoulders like a waterfall, its wet strands clinging to his skin. A loose cloth was tied protectively around his waist and as he moved, it danced wildly in sync with his movements.

He wiped his feet against the sand, slamming his open palm against his chest intimidatingly, his eyes never leaving mine.

The crowd seemed to love it as they cheered, screamed and rattled the very foundation of the cage.
