Book Two: Branch Seventy Eight

Aletta and Jeanne entered the house they were to stay at while they were having dinner.

"Have you had dinner?" Jessica asked Jeanne as they passed by.

"Yes," Jeanne answered without looking back.

"Aren't you going to say Hello to Alicia and Jason?" Jessica asked again.

Jeanne stopped in her tracks and cleared her throat. "Hello Aunty Alicia and Uncle Jason" she said turning back to face them. She had had a long day and was feeling very exhausted.

Both of them acted like tourists in a new place and tried their best to have as much fun as they could.

"Jeanne looking as beautiful as always" Alicia commented with a smile.

"Thank you, Aunty," Jeanne said returning the smile. "What about Joseph?" she asked trying to make small talk.

"He is out with his wife," Jason said. "I guess being haughty runs in the family" he added and the whole table fell into laughter.
