Chapter 7. Katrina.

I woke up with a start, a dull throbbing in my head as I was hit with the full force of a hangover. My unfocused gaze danced around the room, taking in the unfamiliar surroundings before settling on the floor-to-ceiling windows that adorned the hotel room. The faint blue streaks lining the sky told me it was almost dawn, and I groaned inwardly. What had I done?

I tried to move, but my body protested heavily against the action, causing me to stifle a groan as soreness toppled over me like a ton of bricks. My muscles ached, my mouth was dry, and my head was spinning. I closed my eyes, trying to remember what had happened the night before.

The events of the day before came flooding back, leading to this moment and I grimaced. I had been rejected by my mate, who had been cheating on me with my best friend and was even pregnant for him. The pain, betrayal and humiliation hurt me so much and I had tried to drown it in alcohol.
