Chapter 1 “I’d never want you as my Luna, you’re fat, ugly and a bit too dark for me.” His words cut me deep. My wolf Freya howled in my head. I’d just discovered he was my mate. Chapter 3Gael sat in his office running his hand through his hair. “How is this still happening? Rogues are continuing to breach my defenses and they’ve taken another she-wolf.” The frustration was building and the tension in the pack rising.“Gael we’ve tried different tactics on how to strengthen our border defenses and yet they still get in. What’s going to happen if they decide to attack?” Lance asked just as frustrated as Gael.During those six years, Gael was named Alpha and took Amy as his chosen mate. Chapter 5My eyes opened on their own at 4:45 a.m. as they did every morning for the past six years. I rolled out of bed, went to the bathroom, did my business, brushed my teeth and hair and was out on the porch getting ready to stretch for a morning run. Like clockwork, Ron and Tina were coming for morning calisthenics. We stretched and did a full perimeter run. I ran in my human form. My wolf, Freya, was around but she never presented herself to me. She spoke to me in my head, but she never came forth to shift. I still had all the strength, speed, heightened vision and hearing that a wolf had, but my wolf didn’t ever seem to want to come forth. Chapter 7I walked up the porch to my parents’ house when I heard the most vicious howl in my life. I knew immediately who it was. I ran to the packhouse as fast as I could. It was Lance and he sounded like a combination of rage and sorrow. I rushed into the packhouse and there were three warriors trying their best to hold him back.“LaLa! What is going on? What’s wrong?”“I’m going to kill him; I’m going to kill her!” I ran up to him and held him around his waist, I felt him calm a little. “Who bubba, who?”“Let me go Phee, you didn’t tell me, WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME!” He was hysterical. Chapter 9Gael returned to the packhouse not wanting to admit that he was sore all over. He’d worked out all of his life, but he’s never been this sore from a ten-minute workout with Phoenix. He kept reminiscing how she moved with such grace and poise. She even had her eyes closed the whole time. When Randall stepped up to help him throw her off, the way she ran into him and knocked him on his ass was astounding. As he was almost at his office, he heard noises coming from inside. He stopped and instantly anger filled him. Who had the audacity to be in the Alpha’s office without permission? As he felt his wolf about to surface he opened the door, that was slightly ajar, and what he saw almost made him pass out.His father had his mother bent over his desk giving her the absolute business. Her face was concentrated in ecstasy and his father looked as if his life depended on ramming her as hard as he could. Gael couldn’t speak he just heaved, slammed the door and sprinted down the hall.
