Chapter 61

Maeve POVArio and I walked past the dungeon, my heels clicking on the cemented floor. I could hear whimpers as my heels echoed down the hall. It was the whimpers of the locked up criminal but fortunately for them; I am not here for them today. We got to the private area of the dungeon; only hardened criminals stay here. Ario opened the door, and we went to the cell. It’s been two days, and Goerge, Duncan, and Otto just got back, and they brought a guest with them. We got to the cell, and a beat-up guy was tied to a chair, his face covered with a mask.“He is a stubborn one,” Duncan said. I took a deep breath and I smiled. A werewolf. That means I can manipulate him. Well, if he were another supernatural, Ario could manipulate him; all he has to do is morph himself into looking like the person he loves the most, which works like a charm. Ario removed his black mask, and the man looked at us, just shivering in fear.“What is your name?” he asked calmly.“D.dan.te,” he stuttered, sweat

Chapter 62

Unknown POVJane ran to her room, breathing out repeatedly. She was frantic, panicking as she opened a secret door in her room. She entered another room entirely. She sauntered into the covered mirror. It’s been a long time since she did this, but at this point, she had no choice. She removed the cover of the mirror and she was standing in front of the mirror. The mirror was bright, showing her all the small little blemishes on her face. She breathed out, touched the mirror and whispered a word, then suddenly her environment changed. She walked down the hallway, her heels clicking on the hard floor. She couldn’t believe everything happening around her. She thought she could live without her past hunting her, but she should have known how stupid she was. She got to a door and slammed it opened; she walked inside fuming and there they sat, her two worst nightmares. They were both smiling at her creepily, their red eyes booming with evil.“I knew you’d come, mother, but not this fas

Chapter 63

Maeve POVI smiled at Quinn and Otto. She is such a baby to all the men; she and Lily have them wrapped around their fingers, and we all know how spoiled they are. They are not babies anymore, but they are still being treated like babies. Otto is actually feeding her, and he looks happy doing it.“Aren’t you too big for that?” I said, eating my pancake. She smiled at me.“No, mom, and Otto offered,” she said, blinking her doe eyes at me. Sometimes I wonder where she got those eyes, but they are beautiful.“Otto, aren’t you spoiling her a tad too much?” I asked, tilting my head. Odin chuckled from beside me, and I turned to him.“What’s funny?” I asked. He smirked at me.“Don’t be a hypocrite, mom; you spoil her just as we do. Remember when you invited a magician? He stayed so far away from here, and the cost of bringing him here and going back was expensive, but you invited him anyway just because she broke a toe and she was sad,” he said, still smirking at me. I frowned, remembering

Chapter 64

Maeve POVJane’s eyes were wide open as she was covered in blood.“Are you okay?” I asked. She nods her head shakily.“What the hell?” Pa said, standing up. Well, thank goodness, I saw him quickly. Before he could cause any damage, I flung my icy sword at his neck, and he died immediately. I walked to his body, removing the mask from his face. He looked like an ordinary man, but I opened his closed eyelids, and they were red.“Demon,” I said, standing up.“Who will send a demon assassin to kill Jane right in front of us?” Brandon asked.“King Aelle or Selene, one of them or both of them,” Duncan answered. Ario went to the body, searching through the pockets, and he brought out a piece of paper. He opened the paper, reading through it.“That is a little surprising of the things I will do, Jane. You think going to her is going to save her from me? Well, you lie; nothing can save Maeve from me. If you care so much about your precious kingdom, give Maeve to me or slowly watch your kingdom

Chapter 65

Maeve POV“She is okay; she is just in shock,” I heard a voice say.“Thank you, doctor,” Ario said, his hand on my cheeks.“I will take my leave now, your majesty,” the doctor said, and I can hear his retreating footsteps. I opened my eyes, turning my back away from Ario.“It’s not a dream,” I whispered. He didn’t say anything, and that confirmed it. Tears fell down my eyes, and soon I was blown into a full cry. All my life has been a lie; my entire existence is a lie. I judge Selene in what she wasn’t; I am the evil one, and I didn’t even know. This whole time he was my father; no wonder the first time I saw him, he looked at me lovingly, and I thought maybe he was part of the men that wanted to marry me, but it was a fatherly gaze.“Eve,” Ario whispered, lying down with me on the bed.“What will I do now?” I asked, crying heavily.“All this while, I had that power, and I didn’t know. I thought I was powerful; I thought it was me fighting those wars, but it was his; it was his dark p

Chapter 66

Maeve POVIt’s been two weeks since that fateful day. And I have not done much. I have avoided Jane; I can’t bear to look at her. Her face reminds me of the past, which brings nothing but bad memories. I sat by the balcony just in a lot of thoughts. I remember my meeting with Aelle, and I sighed, brushing my hair. I haven’t even told Ario.“When are you going to come out of this depressing room?” I heard Odin’s voice. I sighed, not turning my back. I felt him walking close, then he sat beside me.“How was the meeting?” I asked, knowing he was just coming back from the meeting with the ministers.“According to reports, the demons have been attacking the kingdom. They have been killing people. They attacked the military zone, but thankfully the people there are safe, but now we have to move them,” he said.“Who do you think is behind it? Selene or Aelle?” I asked.“I don’t know, mother, but what I know is that you should stop avoiding grandmother. She has been a mess,” he said. I looked

Chapter 67

Ario POV“I’m going to kill you!” I heard Eve yell. We all turned back, and my eyes widened as her eyes turned red. The weather significantly dropped as everywhere became cold. What is going on?“Oh no,” Jane whispered. I turned to her.“What is happening?” I asked.“She has unlocked her dark magic with hatred for her sister,” she whispered, tears running down her eyes. I dropped Otto softly. He isn’t dead; I was able to save him before he did. I stood up, walking towards Eve, but Jane dragged me back.“Don’t go near her; she doesn’t recognise you,” she said.“But I can’t just watch her change,” I said, removing her hand.“Listen to me, Ario; look, her eyes are red; she is not in control; she will kill you if you come close,” she said, holding me back.“What am I supposed to do, Jane? Watch her do something she will regret when she is sane.” I asked as the air became even colder. I looked up, and it was literally snowing.“Selene!” she yelled, and it was not her voice. That is not Eve

Chapter 68

Maeve POVThe portal took me to a study. I sighed, sitting on the couch in the study and I patiently wait for my father. He came in after me, and he chuckled loudly.“Yes, everything is working perfectly well,” he said, roaming about in the study while I just kept looking at him.“You were so amazing, Maeve, so perfect, and so powerful,” he said, his smile wide like he just won the lottery. He stopped walking about, staring at me.“You know I had a brother. He was a pain in my neck, useless and pathetic, but I killed him,” he said, his eyes lightening up like he had derived so much joy from watching his brother be killed by him.“He was a miserable little lad, the weakest in the family, and he depended on everyone to survive. Mother loved him dearly, but her love for him didn’t help. My mother was powerful; she was known in the demon kingdom, and my father was lucky to have her, but you see, she had one weakness, which was my poor, weak brother. Everyone knew he was her weakness, so t

Chapter 69

Maeve POVIt’s been 3 days since I got here, and I have been in my room. I have not done much, but it gave me time to think. I think about everything going on around me, and I have not come to any conclusion which is driving me nuts. I knock softly on the door.“Come in.” I heard my father’s voice. I opened the door, and he was with a man in his study.“You called for me,” I said. He smiled at me.“Yes, have your seat,” he said. I nod my head, sitting beside the strange man.“Maeve met Malcolm, Malcom; this is my daughter Maeve,” he said. I look at the man; I have never heard of him.“No need for introductions. Aelle, we all know Maeve, the powerful queen of Cassia, the woman with two god titles,” he said, and I just kept looking at him. I gave him a long look, trying to think if I had seen him before. I could feel his aura. He is powerful, cunning, evil, and sly.“The god of chaos,” I said. And he smiled widely.“Not many people outside this kingdom know me, but she could tell from l

Chapter 70

Maeve POV“You look so pretty,” Father said, standing behind me. I smiled at him in the mirror. I look different. They dressed me in all black, dark makeup with a blood red lipstick. This is how they do it here, I guess. I sighed, remembering my wedding and coronation with Ario. I looked alive; I looked beautiful and happy, but now I look emotionless; looking like the evil princess. I breathe out. Thinking about them won’t get me anywhere, so I would rather not.“I look like the evil princess’ father,” I said, turning to him. He smiled.“No, you look pretty, just like your mother,” he said. I tilt my head at him.“You still love her?” I asked.“I never stopped loving her,” he said, his eyes brown.“So, why did you give it up?” I asked.“She had different ambitions; she wanted a different life,” he said, sighing. Then he looked at me.“Let’s not talk about that now; let’s do that later with a few drinks,” he said. I smiled.“Okay, father,” I said, and he hugged me. I didn’t hug him bac
