Maeve POVIt’s been two weeks since that fateful day. And I have not done much. I have avoided Jane; I can’t bear to look at her. Her face reminds me of the past, which brings nothing but bad memories. I sat by the balcony just in a lot of thoughts. I remember my meeting with Aelle, and I sighed, brushing my hair. I haven’t even told Ario.“When are you going to come out of this depressing room?” I heard Odin’s voice. I sighed, not turning my back. I felt him walking close, then he sat beside me.“How was the meeting?” I asked, knowing he was just coming back from the meeting with the ministers.“According to reports, the demons have been attacking the kingdom. They have been killing people. They attacked the military zone, but thankfully the people there are safe, but now we have to move them,” he said.“Who do you think is behind it? Selene or Aelle?” I asked.“I don’t know, mother, but what I know is that you should stop avoiding grandmother. She has been a mess,” he said. I looked
Ario POV“I’m going to kill you!” I heard Eve yell. We all turned back, and my eyes widened as her eyes turned red. The weather significantly dropped as everywhere became cold. What is going on?“Oh no,” Jane whispered. I turned to her.“What is happening?” I asked.“She has unlocked her dark magic with hatred for her sister,” she whispered, tears running down her eyes. I dropped Otto softly. He isn’t dead; I was able to save him before he did. I stood up, walking towards Eve, but Jane dragged me back.“Don’t go near her; she doesn’t recognise you,” she said.“But I can’t just watch her change,” I said, removing her hand.“Listen to me, Ario; look, her eyes are red; she is not in control; she will kill you if you come close,” she said, holding me back.“What am I supposed to do, Jane? Watch her do something she will regret when she is sane.” I asked as the air became even colder. I looked up, and it was literally snowing.“Selene!” she yelled, and it was not her voice. That is not Eve
Maeve POVThe portal took me to a study. I sighed, sitting on the couch in the study and I patiently wait for my father. He came in after me, and he chuckled loudly.“Yes, everything is working perfectly well,” he said, roaming about in the study while I just kept looking at him.“You were so amazing, Maeve, so perfect, and so powerful,” he said, his smile wide like he just won the lottery. He stopped walking about, staring at me.“You know I had a brother. He was a pain in my neck, useless and pathetic, but I killed him,” he said, his eyes lightening up like he had derived so much joy from watching his brother be killed by him.“He was a miserable little lad, the weakest in the family, and he depended on everyone to survive. Mother loved him dearly, but her love for him didn’t help. My mother was powerful; she was known in the demon kingdom, and my father was lucky to have her, but you see, she had one weakness, which was my poor, weak brother. Everyone knew he was her weakness, so t
Maeve POVIt’s been 3 days since I got here, and I have been in my room. I have not done much, but it gave me time to think. I think about everything going on around me, and I have not come to any conclusion which is driving me nuts. I knock softly on the door.“Come in.” I heard my father’s voice. I opened the door, and he was with a man in his study.“You called for me,” I said. He smiled at me.“Yes, have your seat,” he said. I nod my head, sitting beside the strange man.“Maeve met Malcolm, Malcom; this is my daughter Maeve,” he said. I look at the man; I have never heard of him.“No need for introductions. Aelle, we all know Maeve, the powerful queen of Cassia, the woman with two god titles,” he said, and I just kept looking at him. I gave him a long look, trying to think if I had seen him before. I could feel his aura. He is powerful, cunning, evil, and sly.“The god of chaos,” I said. And he smiled widely.“Not many people outside this kingdom know me, but she could tell from l
Maeve POV“You look so pretty,” Father said, standing behind me. I smiled at him in the mirror. I look different. They dressed me in all black, dark makeup with a blood red lipstick. This is how they do it here, I guess. I sighed, remembering my wedding and coronation with Ario. I looked alive; I looked beautiful and happy, but now I look emotionless; looking like the evil princess. I breathe out. Thinking about them won’t get me anywhere, so I would rather not.“I look like the evil princess’ father,” I said, turning to him. He smiled.“No, you look pretty, just like your mother,” he said. I tilt my head at him.“You still love her?” I asked.“I never stopped loving her,” he said, his eyes brown.“So, why did you give it up?” I asked.“She had different ambitions; she wanted a different life,” he said, sighing. Then he looked at me.“Let’s not talk about that now; let’s do that later with a few drinks,” he said. I smiled.“Okay, father,” I said, and he hugged me. I didn’t hug him bac
Maeve POV“Oh, look, there are the newlywed couples,” my father said as we entered the dining room. I blushed, staring at Malcolm.“Stop, father,” I said, waving my hands at him. Father looked at both of us, his brown eyes beaming. You could feel his happiness and the glow on his face.“There were so many banging last night; are you two sex starved?” my father asked. I chuckled, looking at Malcolm. Oh, there was a lot of banging, but I banged Ario, not Malcom, and he was banging his lover, and they went on for hours. Her loud moans irritated me, and I couldn’t sleep. He rolled his eyes at me as I glared at him.“Yes, he couldn’t get enough of me last night,” I said, going to my seat. Malcolm laughed, as he could sense my sarcasm, but my father was just too happy to sense anything. I serve him and serve myself.“Oh, performing Wifey duties already,” the father said, smiling widely. I chuckled, eating a grape.“Father, if you continue with the smile, I’m afraid your cheeks will start hu
Ario POV“Your majesty, our camps are being raided by King Aelle and Queen Maeve,” the general said. I sighed, rubbing my forehead. I don’t know how long it has been, but it has been long enough to know that Maeve has completely gone crazy. She and Aelle have been attacking us, killing the men. I have not set my eyes on her since that night, and I am not even sure I want to.“She is no queen of ours; she should be killed,” the ministers yelled, and there was an uproar as others yelled with him. They used to respect her so much; they used to love her, and now they surely want her dead. What am I going to do with you, Maeve?“Enough!” I yelled, and they all went quiet. I breathe out.“I am as tired as you all. I am frustrated, as are you all, but we have to remain calm,” I said, standing up.“But your majesty, Queen Maeve, has been causing us a lot of trouble. The people on the outskirts are in danger; even the generals are in danger. What must we do, your majesty? She is our queen, but
Ario POV“We are here,” Odin said, looking deep into the forest. We have been riding for almost four days because Odin mixed up the route and we took the longer one.“We are here? This is just a forest,” I said. He climbed down on his horse.“No, father, that’s what she wants you to think,” he said, bringing out his pocketknife. He walked to a different tree, stabbing it, and I just kept looking at him tiredly. I have not really slept; the journey here wasn’t so smooth because we met some warriors and cave dwellers, and we also met some rogues, and those things are vile. So when we are supposed to be resting, I stay away to make sure Odin has enough sleep while I look out.“I must be so delusional because of my lack of sleep,” I said, yawning. I come down from the horse, stretching. Odin chuckled loudly. Then I watched as he stabbed into a tree, and the view changed. There was a hut in front of us.“I guess you are right,” I said, leading the horses inside. Odin went to the door, knoc
