Maeve POV

“You look so pretty,” Father said, standing behind me. I smiled at him in the mirror. I look different. They dressed me in all black, dark makeup with a blood red lipstick. This is how they do it here, I guess. I sighed, remembering my wedding and coronation with Ario. I looked alive; I looked beautiful and happy, but now I look emotionless; looking like the evil princess. I breathe out. Thinking about them won’t get me anywhere, so I would rather not.

“I look like the evil princess’ father,” I said, turning to him. He smiled.

“No, you look pretty, just like your mother,” he said. I tilt my head at him.

“You still love her?” I asked.

“I never stopped loving her,” he said, his eyes brown.

“So, why did you give it up?” I asked.

“She had different ambitions; she wanted a different life,” he said, sighing. Then he looked at me.

“Let’s not talk about that now; let’s do that later with a few drinks,” he said. I smiled.
