Azalea We arrived there in the afternoon. It was actually very beautiful here by the Sierra Nevada Mountains. It would be a good place for a pack, the nearest being in Lake Tahoe which was south of Reno. I made a mental note to ask Steve which packs were closest and what their relationship with Logan was. It would always help to have more hands on deck. Miner's Canyon literally looked like it came out of an old western film, just 100 years later. Most of the buildings were still standing, though in questionable condition. We parked in the middle of the town and broke everyone into groups to explore the buildings to assess them. If this was going to be base camp I would want to make sure that the buildings were secure enough for us to spend time in. There was a hotel/boarding house, a bank, a saloon, a store, the jail, a resturant, what was probably a butchery, the doctor's office and a stage coach/post office.
