Chapter Fifty One

Klaus PoV“What?” I murmured, “did my wife just claim to be the daughter of the previous Alpha?”Initially, I thought I misheard. I struggled with the pain spreading through every part of my body to following the proceedings of the public trial. And then she said it again. Louder, with much conviction.“Could this day get any weird?” I groaned.First, Kyle had pounced on me like a vengeful spirit and gave me a thorough thrashing. That bastard was lucky I was chained, or I’d have bitten his head off. Still, I owed him a beating.Second, Aurora was claiming to be the child of the previous Alpha. From what I heard when I joined the pack, the previous Alpha and his wife were ambushed by bandits near the headless valley. They were on their way back from delivering their baby when the attack happened, and no one survived. “Could it be that Aurora was the child that was delivered?” I wondered, “is that why she wouldn’t tell me anything about her past? Or about her parents?”Anytime I asked

Chapter Fifty Two

Klaus PoVAfter weeks of locked up in a dungeon, a hot bath felt like paradise. And when Aurora joined me in the bath, it really was paradise.I’d never been away from her for so long. Even when I went away on missions with Axel, I always made sure I never stayed away for long. Guess, that’s what love does to you.“It’s been a rough couple of weeks,” Aurora whispered gently as the hot water from the shower slowly cascaded down our body.“More like a rough couple of months,” I chuckled softly and pulled her closer to me.I ran my hands through her hair, washing away the dirt. And that was when I noticed. “You’ve cut your hair,”“Well,” she smiled gently, “you were not around to help me braid it.:Her short, wavy hair was matted to her shiny forehead by the hot water flowing down out combined body. We took turns washing our body, and I spent longer than necessary on her pair of buxom breasts. Her nipples responded to my touch. They stood erect and proud as I gently ran my finger throu

Chapter Fifty Three

Axel PoVI was scared of very few people. In fact, the list of those I feared was so miniscule you could read it one breath, and Klaus was slowly wiggling himself into that list. When I noticed Klaus’s strength many years ago, I had big plans for him. The plan was to use him to expand the pack, and make the pack legendary. I never imagined that his strength, which I had greatly nurtured and refined over the years, would be directed at me.“And it’s all because of that bitch,” I snarled, tightening my fist. Aurora would ruin everything, and I greatly regretted not slashing her baby throat twenty-five years ago. In hindsight, killing a baby would not make me more monstrous than I already was. I’d already murdered my Alpha and his wife, would adding their baby to the list made any difference?“Stupid, Axel, damn stupid,” I scolded myself, “you should have killed that bitch when you had the chance.”If I’d killed her, she wouldn’t be causing me problems. “If only I had the nerve,” I mu

Chapter Fifty Four

Axel PoV“I didn’t think you would come,” I said gently as Klaus entered through the front door. Before Klaus came, I’d freshened up. A hot bath had a way of making me seem friendly, and for my plan to work, Klaus needed to see me as his friend. What’s betrayal without gaining the trust of your mark? To add to my layer of betrayal, I’d changed into a clean, celebratory suit to make it seem like I’m in a mood to celebrate. I’d matched the suit with an equally expensive pair of black, suede shoe. The last touch I added to my illusion of friendship was to dim the lights in the living room. Werewolf had acute senses, but it would be difficult to see the fine specks of dust scattered around the left glass cup in such low lights. I’d carefully prepared my plans. It was a last-ditch effort and I desperately needed it to work. If it didn’t, everything would collapse, and things would get super ugly.“You’re still my Alpha,” Klaus replied, and I detected a twinge of respect and regret in his

Chapter Fifty Five

Klaus PoVI watched as Klaus tenderly poured the wine. It was difficult to believe that he was a cold murderer who’d murdered a lovely couple in blood. Worse still, the couple he murdered turned out to be the parents of my wife. It was too wild to believe, and it almost sounded like a fiction, horror story told to scare children around a bonfire.Yet, it was so real. Axel hadn’t murdered just any body, he’d murdered his Alpha. The same person he had sworn to protect. He must have taken an oath of fealty to his Alpha, like betas do. Yet, he had no problem breaking that oath in the cruelest way possible. Axel hadn’t just committed murder, he’d committed the worst crime any beta could ever commit, murder their Alpha.“I remember that time we went on our mission to Paris,” Axel had a slight nostalgic expression on his face as he spoke and poured the wine, “you were barely eighteen, but legal enough to taste alcohol for the first time.”“I remember,” I replied as the memories flickered

Chapter Fifty Six

Klaus PoVEvery thought that filled my mind as I raced home was the fact that Axel had tried to murder me. Hearing Axel was a murderer feels very much different when I am the receiving end of his murderous intent. I felt betrayed, angry and hateful. I’d never hated anyone as much as I hated Axel at that particular moment.“How could he?” I muttered as I picked my way home, “how could he?”It was difficult to fathom the fact that Axel would stoop that low to murder me with wolfsbane poison. I would have died screaming in agony and pain. Death by wolfsbane poison was the most gruesome fate that could ever befall a werewolf. “And that was how he intended to kill me,” I muttered angrily as I pushed the door to my house open.Aurora had been pacing the front door while she fiddled with the phone. She was still dressed in her nightgown, but draped a woolen wrapper around her lithe frame.“Klaus,” she murmured immediately I entered the house, thank goodness. She embraced me, locking her a

Chapter Fifty Seven

Aurora PoVWhen Klaus told me Axel had tried to poison him, I was not entirely shocked that Axel would pull a stunt like that. In fact, a small part of me was excited that he did.Klaus had an unhealthy fascination towards Axel. He almost worshipped the terrible Alpha as a god. No matter how much I tried to warn him about trusting a treacherous man like Axel, he never listened. He thought it was woman talk. But Axel had gladly proved me right. Now Klaus knows that he was dealing with the devil, and needed to treat Axel like an actual devil. That way, his hesitation to fight Axel to the death was dissolved. Now the real challenge was to make Klaus believe he can win.“You doubt your strength, Klaus,” I smiled gently, cupping his lean cheeks in my arm, “I have a very important news to tell you. Perhaps, it would be the motivation you need.”“Really?” his face lit up, “what is it? Tell me.”I looked deeply into my husband’s bright blue eyes and I knew I was right. Klaus had all the makin

Chapter Fifty Eight

Axel PoVI believed I had won. I’d defeated my worst enemy since Raphael, and I was already plotting out way to get rid of my Aurora and the abomination growing in her stomach. This time, I definitely wouldn’t miss. The pack might speculate about Klaus’s death, some might even suggest poison, and Aurora might try to accuse me of poisoning her husband. But without evidence, it’s all rumors, speculation, and suspicions. Soon enough, it would all blow over and I would go back to being the undisputed Alpha of the pack.Although I wished that Klaus had reached home and given the poisoned wine to his despicable wife, I knew he couldn’t have gotten that far before he collapsed and the poison did its work. Wolfsbane poison is as fast as it is terrible, and a small sip, such like the one that Klaus consumed the day before, was enough to kill even the strongest werewolf. There was no way he would have made it to Aurora. Which meant that it was up to me to kill Aurora myself. But I’ll need to

Chapter Fifty Nine

Klaus PoVI’ve seen Axel transform more than a thousand times, yet, each transformation always manages to scare and fascinate me. He hunched down on all fours, but his knee didn’t touch the ground. The transformation started from his legs, which were firmly planted into the ground. Sprouts of hair grew on his legs, congealing together to form a brown-blackish fur. And rapidly spread to every part of his body. His bones cracked. Toes and fingers extended into claws. The cracking of his spine was clearly heard all through the pack, as he morphed into a fierce, heinous wolf. His nose grew, eyes grew apart, and mouth morphed into huge, scary fangs. Then came the howl, and everyone gasped in horror and shock. Axel was the Alpha after all. His howls made most wolfs in the pack keel over but a few managed to keep their feet together. Al, Ed, and Aurora were, unsurprisingly, part of the few.Axel’s transformation had barely lasted a couple of seconds. Five seconds before he was hunched on a

Chapter Sixty

Klaus PoV“Being Alpha suits you, doesn’t it?” Axel sneered at me.Few weeks ago, we’d changed position. I was languishing in the cell, while he looked down on me from behind the iron bar. But things have changed.Axel was the one rotting away in the cell, while I addressed him from behind the thick iron bar which I had reinforced to make sure he doesn’t escape. “It sure does,” I grinned, “and being alive suits you. You should be grateful you’re still alive.”“Would you like me to worship you?” anger and hatred dripped from his voice, “to thank you for sparing my life?”“Actually,” I laughed, “I wouldn’t want that. I’m not like you. Just stay right here till the end of your days. A reminder to any Alpha that tries to abuse their powers.”“You bastard,” Axel yelled as I began to walk away, “just kill me now. Kill me now, you rotten bastard.”“Make sure there’s a guard around his cell always,” I told Babel as I walked out of the dungeon, “we can’t risk him escaping.”“Yes, Alpha,” Bab
