My first thought was to go back outside before Bella could notice that I had come in. I didn’t want to impose myself on her after being told that she preferred to be left alone. Moreover, I haven’t spoken to her since Lucien left, and I wasn’t sure what she thought of the whole situation. Like Marcus, she could have been upset with me for trying to meddle in her business. When I finally had the time to examine my surroundings properly, I was confused. Piles of books lay scattered on the floor with a few pages torn. A few canvases were shredded and a few destroyed completely. It was chaotic, and it was enough to make me wander inside to check if Bella was okay. As I walked in, I found Bella in the center of the room with numerous papers by her side.
