Chapter Forty

CarlaThe memory of the blood pooling in her hands was still etched into her mind, it refused to fade away. She remembered the last words her mother spoke to her before her parents and her grandparents perished in the explosions. "She's alive! She's safe, we can bring her home." Carla remembered how happy they all were, and she remembered that she was so excited to see her sister and to become an aunt to Angie's baby. But Carla lost the only other family she had left, their dead bodies burned until there was nothing but charred flesh and bones. Carla sat on the floor in a giant hallway inside what people were calling the Sanctuary with a blanket wrapped around her, her arms hugging her knees so tightly she could barely breathe. She may have been surrounded by hundreds, perhaps thousands, of Werewolves and Witches, but she has never felt more alone in her entire life. Her parents were dead. Her father, a Beta, was dead. Chapter Forty-One

Nina Black Magic is delicate, contrary to popular belief. Magic is a part of the soul for those born with it, it’s a part of that persons’ life force so if the magic was to be used too much it can drain that persons’ life force which is very dangerous. Nina knew the dangers of losing too much magic, the results usually vary depending on how much magic an individual has in their soul, of course. So when Nina observed Sara struggling to breathe and stay awake she knew that Sara was wearing herself extremely thin. Sara had been using her magic to create potions for many of the thousands of Werewolves going to war to help them became resistant to magic. Sara has been working tirelessly for days and Nina can see it has taken its toll on her. Concerned, Nina led Sara out of the stuffy basement and upstairs into a small little sitting room with just a few armchairs sitting in opposite corners with a plast

Chapter Forty-Two

Max The awkward silence was as thick as gross stale air which made Max extremely uncomfortable. Carla had been told that her sister had been taken, by who and while everyone expected anger even hostility towards Dmitri, who was was supposed to be protecting Angel. But no one expected her to be angry with herself. She paced around the small little sitting room, her new clothes a little too big for her, swishing as she moved, muttering angrily how this all her fault, how horrible of a sister she is and how much of a horrible person she is. After she was done pacing around she sat down where Sara was sleeping and sobbed quietly to herself. Nina, Max, Sara and Dmitri didn’t want to leave and yet being there felt as if they were intruding on a personal moment. Max just kept staring at the carpeted floor while rubbing the back of his neck uncomfortably, at least for a while. Carla hiccuped and then mumbled, “I

Chapter Forty-Three

Sara The thick, smokey fog and the dense cluster of eerie trees made it difficult to navigate through Hoia Bacia forest, however, with Sara and Nina’s magic the thousands of Werewolves and Witches were able to keep on the right path, especially with everyone walking together in close-knit groups, mind-linking every five minutes just to check in. It kept them all together. Sara stepped over a decaying log, morning dew clinging to her leggings and sneakers. At least her thick jacket is keeping her warm enough. But even though the cold seemed to stick to her skin and chill her fingers, she oddly enjoyed the fresh, clean smell of the forest, the sounds of the birds and the feel of the morning dew on her fingertips. It reminded her of her childhood, her brothers and sisters sneaking out into their garden on early mornings to play. Happier days, she thought bitterly sweet to herself. Amidst her memories, she glimpse

Chapter Forty-Four

Dmitri The fog slowly drifted, disappearing as the morning became warmer and soon the castle became clearer, the details more visible with every passing minute. There, in the middle of a huge clearing roughly around five hundred meters wide all around, was the castle which looked as if it belonged in a horror movie. Dmitri was not a movie fan, he preferred books, however, he has seen the odd horror movie thanks to his siblings and this castle definitely had that look to it. The look of the castle gave Dmitri an unsettling feeling inside his gut and, somehow, he knew this castle has seen some horrors. This made him afraid. He was afraid for his Angel. Was she all right? How was the baby? Are they both safe? Please, he begged to the Moon Goddess, please let them be safe. As the fog thinned more and more, the castles’ surrounding and details became more prominent than before. Eerie dea

Chapter Forty-Five

Dmitri With a sharp twist, he snapped the Witch’s neck and she fell to the floor with a hard thud. This was the last Witch on this floor so Dmitri signalled for his group to continue searching the area for anyone or anything that would give them any information on Madeline’s plans or where his Angel will be. All the rooms on the lower levels of this old castle consisted mostly of ancient dusty furniture covered with yellow-stained sheets, broken glass here and there and frayed old carpets. This once was a home, Dmitri thought as he entered yet another bedroom filled with spiders and layers upon layers of dust. I wonder what happened. He entered the bedroom and opened old drawers which nearly broke when he touched them.  The drawers had small items of clothing, perhaps once belonging to a child, a little girl by the looks of it. He carefully placed the clothing back a

Chapter Forty-Six

Nina “Please, get behind me,” Nina pleaded with Angelica as the howls and growling became more violent and loud, scraping wood echoed through the room which made the pregnant werewolf cry harder, screaming for her sister. Nina turned to the girl and ushered her to the opposite side of the room, away from the door, and sat her down carefully sat her on the floor behind a large wooden wardrobe, the only piece of furniture in the room beside the large bed. “Stay here, do not move, not for anyone or anything. Do you understand?” The girl didn’t respond. She stared, terrified, at the door where her sister disappeared, her hands shakily covering her mouth as tears rolled down her pale cheeks. “Angelica Sky!”  The girl suddenly snapped her eyes to meet Nina’s and managed a meek, “Huh?” Nina placed both of her hands on either side of the g

Chapter Forty-Seven

Angelica Placing protective hands around my swollen belly, feeling a lump in my throat, I wondered why on Earth this Madeline woman wanted my child. From what I gathered, she took me and I’ve been here for four months. While wondering the actions and motives of this woman it took everything I had not to burst into tears, remembering that my sister was on the other side of the door, fighting for my safety. She loves me, came a sobering thought with memories of our earlier childhood flashing through my mind, before we got older; before we started turning on each other. How she used to sneak me more ice cream when mum and dad weren’t watching, how she chased away the bullies that picked on me and how she would tell me stories of the Moon Goddess and how She would grant wishes to lost souls who would howl at the moon. Those were the days that I really cherished, the days we laughed together before-A loud growl behind the

Chapter Forty-Eight

Dmitri He used all of his might and speed he had in him to push the Witch through the crumbling mansion, her screams ringing in his ears as he burst through the broken door which they had used to get in and once outside Dmitri threw Madeline through the fighting, bloodied crowd of Witches and Werewolves. Dmitri stood, watching as Witches and Werewolves alike stopped fighting momentarily to run out of his and Madeline’s way, knowing that this will be the fight to decide the winners, before tearing each other apart once again.Bodies littered the field and pools of blood surrounded everyone, the once clean air reeked of sweat and blood and screams replaced the sounds of birds. This truly was a war zone.Amongst the mass, Madeline finally stood from the ground, blood pouring out of her eye socket, flesh peeling off. Their eyes met and she gave Dmitri a twisted smile before she turned and ran into the thick forest. Snarl

Chapter Forty-Nine

Sara Watching her brother disappear into the forest, she pushed powerful magic towards a small group of Witches surrounding a crouched wolf and struck another Witch attempting to attack her. No, she thought as she fought off another Witch, a Witch’s magic is more powerful when surrounded by a forest. Sara extended her claws and slashed a Witch before using her magic to strike at another.  Gasping for air she stared towards the forest, she had a really awful feeling wriggling in her stomach. Her brother wasn’t going to able to kill Madeline, she was too powerful. It would take more than a powerful, old Lycan to kill her. The older the Witch, the more powerful their magic.  Nina, Dmitri has chased Madeline into the forest. He won’t be able to defeat her on his own! He needs our help! Nina was q
