Abducted

Frank Gotham glared at the screen, cursing internally as he watched the CCTV footage of his office. The most important thing was stolen from his office and he had secrets that should remain hidden.   "Fucking hell!" He growled when he recognised who the robber was. It was none other than his enemy. Most people were unaware of this man's connections with the underworld, however, Frank was well aware of it and he wasn't going to let him get away with it.    Stealing from him was his worst mistake and if Frank has to teach him a lesson, he will not hesitate. Grabbing his gun, he stormed out of his room, gesturing his men to follow.    Soon the three well-dressed men were racing towards Walter's residence, fully armed and ready to invade Walter's privacy. However, when they barged into their 3 bedroom apartment, all he saw was an empty house. A clean and tidy apartment where everything was arranged neatly. Not even

A Failed Attempt

Jennifer didn't know how long she stood stunned at the doorway, staring motionlessly at the closed door. The darkness that enveloped her did not bother her. Nor did the dusty surroundings and the damp atmosphere that continued to itch her nose. What she had heard from the men was what scared her. They thought it was a shame to let it go to waste? What were they going to do with her body? She couldn't help but think the worst.  Were they going to…..rape her?   She gulped. The heat of the blocked attic coupled with her anxiety had her heart erratic. Her breathing came out as deep gasps of breath. It was sweltering and her thin shirt was already soaked with sweat. After some time, she looked around with widened eyes. The small window in the attic was the only source of light and it was lit just enough for her to see around. Since it was still daytime, the window provided enough light for her to see around.   "I must get out of here

Caged

Jennifer sat in the centre of the metal cage that was in the basement. This was worse than being locked up in the attic. At least the attic had some amount of light coming in through the window during the daytime. The basement was pitch-dark if they didn't turn the lights on and Jennifer doubted that they would keep the lights on for her.  She glanced sideways at the four men who were busy gambling on a table. Their conversation and shouts of excitement were of no interest to her. Perhaps they wanted to make their stay enjoyable. She couldn't care less about what they did, as long as they left her alone. At least the light was still on as long as they were still in here. Hugging herself as she sat on the hard cement floor, she rested her head on her knees, in an attempt to comfort herself. She was still trembling. The fear that had gripped her had now resided. However, her body was still in shock. At least she was now under surveillance

A Caged Canary

Jennifer didn't touch the food. She wasn't hungry anyway. She laid on the floor and wished that she could at least have a glimpse of the stars. Then perhaps she could have a little conversation with her mother. It may sound absurd to some people if they knew Jennifer spoke to the stars, imagining that her mother was up there, listening to her woes, offering her support. But Jennifer didn't care. It brought her contentment to some extent. She sighed. Now she couldn't do that. She would have to be patient with what she had. So she closed her eyes and heaved a deep breath.  "Mommy. I wish you didn't die. I wish you were here to take care of me. Maybe then, I wouldn't be so lonely." She whispered shakily and remained like that until once again, sleep overpowered her. Later during the night, one of Frank's men came into the basement to take away the plate and saw that the girl had not even touched her food last night. He didn't want to get into trou

Trouble

"Her boyfriend?" the doctor sceptically eyed the well-built man in front of him. Everyone in the neighbourhood knew who Frank was. However, no one dared do anything, nor make any comment. Especially if they feared it might anger him. "Yes." He confirmed, his face remained emotionless as he did. Gulping, the doctor averted his gaze from the mafia leader. Maintaining eye contact with him was hard when it felt like Frank was staring right into the doctor's soul. "Okay." He finally sighed. He would rather believe what he was told than get himself into a mess. "Your girlfriend seems extremely weak and stressed. I can tell that she is going through a hard time, even though I haven't talked to her. She seems pale. I think you should take good care of her. Maybe, shower her with love and attention. I know life is busy, but right now, you must give what she needs and that is your love." The doctor explained, frowning as he checked Jennifer'

A Deal With The Devil

Jennifer had not regained consciousness when she was reeled into the emergency room. The doctor who had visited them left as soon as the nurses at the hospital started to attend to her. Frank, his father and his cousin waited outside the emergency room for any news from the medical team.    Frank's father was silently studying the reactions of his son and the other people around him. Being in the mafia for years had taught him not to trust a stranger, regardless of the situation. In addition to that, he had seen how reluctant Frank was to pick her up. And it raised questions in the old man's heart. He remained silent and chose to watch what happened, nonetheless. If his son was truly in a relationship with this girl, he would have to do some research before truly accepting her.    "So she is your girlfriend? He asked Frank, scrutinizing his son's facial expressions.    Frank on the other hand looked at his

A Facade

Frank hid his real emotions behind a mask of a facade, something he had mastered over the years. He had to think of something, and fast. "I was going to….but….."  "He wanted to surprise you all." Jennifer cut him in, surprising him. Well, that was fast. His lips parted as he glanced in between Jennifer and his father, who remained stone cold.  "Okay ...well, I'm surprised." Frank's father stated nonchalantly.  "How did you fall down the stairs?" He asked.  "I slipped and fell." Came the reply. "I wasn't feeling well. I guess I shouldn't have tried to walk around since I was feeling dizzy." She sighed. "And why did you get up? The doctor must have advised you to rest. You just have to inform the maids what you need and they will attend to you." Frank's father had his eyes focused on Jennifer, who didn't seem to mind his cold stare.  "I don't like to order people around. I guess perhaps because I didn't g

No Privacy

Infuriated, Frank stomped to his room and slammed the door shut, startling Jennifer who was inside already. She had come in a few minutes earlier, however, she didn't know where to start. She didn't have any clothes with her to begin with and had been waiting for Frank to come in. However, when she saw how irritated he looked, she instantly understood that something must have bothered him. Hence, she remained silent, not wanting to anger him more than he already was.  "Fuck that idiot!" He cursed, disregarding Jennifer's presence. "He is such a nuisance!" He grumbled and punched the wall. He was used to punching hard surfaces like it, however, it pained his knuckles each time. "Damn!" Jennifer whispered as she stared at him with widened eyes. She was being as invisible as she could, but couldn't hold back from gasping when she saw how he punched the wall.Still fuming, Frank glared at her. "Shit!" He cursed when he realised

W.E

Frank grabbed her hand a little too harsh, making her yelp, and snatched what she was hiding from him. When he saw that it was nothing but a notepad and a pencil, he froze. She was hiding this notepad from him? He had kept one on the dressing table before he left early in the morning. She must have seen it while she spent the day in the room.    His gaze moved from the notepad to Jennifer, who had her eyebrows knitted together as she chewed on her lower lip nervously. Still looking at her, he opened the first page to check what she had written down. He didn't expect to see a splendid sketch on it. Frowning, he stared at it. Was she an artist? He wondered. This sure looked like a professional sketch. Frank, being an admirer of art, was shocked to see such a splendid sketch on his notepad.   "I….I'm so sorry. I was so bored and then I saw this notepad…..I….I couldn't help it….. and I drew on the first page…..I'm sorry…." She stammered, fi

Breakfast With The Gothams

The next morning, Frank didn't leave like he usually does. Instead, he remained at home in the room to watch her draw. At first, Jennifer said nothing and continued doing what she loved. However, when she felt that his presence was making it awkward, she glanced in his direction and saw that he was staring at her.    "Don't you have work today?" She finally asked him.  "Not your business, is it?" He responded nonchalantly, not wanting to show that his view on her has changed even a bit. Rolling her eyes, she shook her head and went back to do what she loved. "Whatever, Gotham." She murmured and continued to draw. She didn't care about his solemn approach. His cold stares and unfriendly gestures didn't bother her even the slightest bit.    Frank stared at her. She didn't seem to mind his rude comeback. He simply wanted to show that he still didn't care about her. He didn't want to give her even the slightest hin
