Frank Gotham glared at the screen, cursing internally as he watched the CCTV footage of his office. The most important thing was stolen from his office and he had secrets that should remain hidden.

"Fucking hell!" He growled when he recognised who the robber was. It was none other than his enemy. Most people were unaware of this man's connections with the underworld, however, Frank was well aware of it and he wasn't going to let him get away with it.

Stealing from him was his worst mistake and if Frank has to teach him a lesson, he will not hesitate. Grabbing his gun, he stormed out of his room, gesturing his men to follow.

Soon the three well-dressed men were racing towards Walter's residence, fully armed and ready to invade Walter's privacy. However, when they barged into their 3 bedroom apartment, all he saw was an empty house. A clean and tidy apartment where everything was arranged neatly. Not even the tiniest bit of dust could be seen.

"Gah!" He screamed and kicked a ceramic vase at one side, shattering it into tiny pieces, and disrupting the peace of the house.

"Who is it?" A middle-aged woman who was wearing an apron ran into the living room, holding a spatula in her hand.

"Where is he?" Frank clasped onto his cold gun, gritting his teeth, as he glared at the woman who was apparently confused and startled.

"He is…. not…. home." She stammered, as her eyes darted from his hands to his face. Gulping, she studied the faces of the three men, who looked like they were dangerous men. They looked sophisticated. However, they gave her the creeps. Their angry expressions coupled with the guns in their hands could only mean trouble.

Her heart pounded frantically when they sauntered over to her. Her breathing came out in deep gasps as she took a step back involuntarily. She glanced from Frank to the ones who stood behind him, worried about what was about to happen.

"Wha….what do you want?" She asked in a little voice after mustering up all the courage she could. Frank didn't reply. Instead, he mercilessly grabbed her hair, making her scream in pain and pointed the pistol in his hands to her temple.

"Tell me where the fuck he is!" He growled through his gritted teeth.

"I….I don't know…" she cried, flinching. "He has not come home for two weeks! Even his daughter has started to worry about him!" Tears were now streaming down her cheeks, as she winced in pain. However, Frank didn't feel even the slightest bit of sympathy towards her.

"Lies!" He bellowed and pushed her to the floor. She let out a cry, as she fell onto the tiled floor. "I don't believe in all of this nonsense and drama! I have my reasons not to! Now fucking tell me where he is or else I'll kill you!" He threatened, cocking his gun at her as she kneeled in front of him, holding her hands together and begging him to let her go.

"Please….have mercy! I am just a maid… I have a family…..." She was crying hysterically, begging for her life.

Frank felt his anger skyrocket, and his patience ran thin. He was about to pull the trigger when he thought he heard footsteps. It was then he noticed that the maid's eyes were fixed at the space over his shoulders, right before it darted back to his face. Realising that something wasn't right, he suddenly grabbed the maid's hair and turned around, so that he was holding the older woman as a shield.

His eyes focused on a petite, slim female, who was holding a chair over her head, ready to strike.

Smirking, he pressed his gun against the maid's temple and motioned to her to keep the chair.

"Jenny! Run!" The maid begged however, the young girl who had entered didn't have any intention of running away from the obviously dangerous situation.

"What in the world is going on in my house!" She demanded.

"You don't have the right to barge into my house and threaten my nanny like that!" She screamed, scowling at Frank.

"Let her go!" She clenched her fists

Amused by her courage, Frank raised an eyebrow, however, he was too pissed off about what Rudolph had done, so he narrowed his eyes at the brown-haired beauty in front of him.

"Listen, young lady, I don't have time for nonsense. Your father is a wretched thief. Now tell me where he is!"

He growled menacingly. However, it didn't scare Jennifer. She was ready to protect her maid, and her father with her life if she had to. Her father was the only family she had, despite his absence in her life and her nanny was the closest to a mother she had since her real mother had died during childbirth.

"You know what? Whatever you are saying, makes no sense at all." She hissed, glaring back at the well-built man, her eyes burning with rage. With dark hair that was neatly slicked back and a smile that could murder hearts, Jennifer thought he was indeed handsome. However, he most certainly has gotten on her nerves for her to care about his looks.

"Do you think I give a fuck?" His whisper was low toned and would have made Jennifer shiver in fear, however, she was way too determined on saving her family. She made sure that her facial expressions confirmed it.

"Fine! You have two choices. Either I kill your precious nanny or you come with me as my prisoner, until you stupid father returns what is mine!" He hissed, pressing his gun against her nanny's head. Wide-eyed, her nanny looked at Jenny and shook her head.

"No, Jenny! Run! Don't go with him!" She begged, not caring about her safety.

Jennifer glanced from her nanny to the ruthless man who stood in front of her and took in a deep, shaky breath.

"I am ready." She said, low-toned as she narrowed her eyes at the well-built man, who had his face clean shaved and his jet black hair slicked back.

Smirking in triumph, he gestured to his men to take Jennifer away. Frowning, Jennifer stared at her nanny as her hands were tied behind her back and was dragged out of the apartment. Just as they were about to drag her away from the entrance, she shouted.

"Wait! Leave my nanny alone!" She demanded. Still smirking, Frank slowly backed off.

"Of course. She will have to call and inform your idiotic father about how I have abducted you, anyway." He chuckled.

He still had his gun pointed at the middle-aged maid, until all of them got out of the apartment and dashed towards the car, which was parked right outside the apartment building.

The entire ride was filled with silence, where Jennifer kept memorising the features of all three of them.

"What did my father steal from you, anyway?" She asked them, as soon as they entered Frank's house.

"My laptop. And I have proof." Frank firmly replied, facing her. Their eyes made contact and their gazes burnt into each other. There was nothing except hatred for each other in their orbs.

"Release her hands and lock her up in the attic," Frank ordered his men, as he stared at her. Her hands were untied. She glared back at Frank the entire time. She wasn't scared of him. And she will prove it!

Narrowing her eyes at Frank, she kicked his balls, making him crouch, groaning in pain.

"Hey! You bitch!" One of his guards yelled, slapping Jennifer on the back of her head. However, it didn't waver her determination.

"I'm not scared of you, asshole!" She hissed at them.

Gritting their teeth, Frank's men were about to take their guns when Frank suddenly gestured to them to stop.

"No! We need her! She is our prisoner and we will use her as bait! So just lock her up and do as I say." He said, standing up. "No one kills her until I say so." He added in a hushed whisper, scowling at the pretty, young woman who had dared show any kind of resistance towards the dreaded mafia leader.

"Take her away!" He ordered and his men grabbed her hands and started to drag her up the stairs, towards the attic.

"She is a lovely kitten." One of them snickered.

"Oh yeah. It would be a shame if that body goes to waste." The other agreed, chuckling darkly.

Jennifer shuddered, fear suddenly gripping her heart. They pushed her into a dark and damp attic where cobwebs and dust made her nose itch. However, their conversation had got her worried much more than anything else.

"What do you mean?" She asked, looking at them with wide eyes.

"Oh, we won't do anything to you yet. We will wait till the boss allows us to get rid of you." One of them flashed a lopsided grin before slamming the door shut, leaving Jennifer all alone in the dark, with her heart hammering in her chest.

Jennifer didn't know how long she stood stunned at the doorway, staring motionlessly at the closed door. The darkness that enveloped her did not bother her. Nor did the dusty surroundings and the damp atmosphere that continued to itch her nose. What she had heard from the men was what scared her. They thought it was a shame to let it go to waste? What were they going to do with her body? She couldn't help but think the worst. Were they going to…..rape her? She gulped. The heat of the blocked attic coupled with her anxiety had her heart erratic. Her breathing came out as deep gasps of breath. It was sweltering and her thin shirt was already soaked with sweat. After some time, she looked around with widened eyes. The small window in the attic was the only source of light and it was lit just enough for her to see around. Since it was still daytime, the window provided enough light for her to see around. "I must get out of here

Jennifer sat in the centre of the metal cage that was in the basement. This was worse than being locked up in the attic. At least the attic had some amount of light coming in through the window during the daytime. The basement was pitch-dark if they didn't turn the lights on and Jennifer doubted that they would keep the lights on for her.She glanced sideways at the four men who were busy gambling on a table. Their conversation and shouts of excitement were of no interest to her. Perhaps they wanted to make their stay enjoyable. She couldn't care less about what they did, as long as they left her alone. At least the light was still on as long as they were still in here.Hugging herself as she sat on the hard cement floor, she rested her head on her knees, in an attempt to comfort herself. She was still trembling. The fear that had gripped her had now resided. However, her body was still in shock. At least she was now under surveillance

Jennifer didn't touch the food. She wasn't hungry anyway. She laid on the floor and wished that she could at least have a glimpse of the stars. Then perhaps she could have a little conversation with her mother. It may sound absurd to some people if they knew Jennifer spoke to the stars, imagining that her mother was up there, listening to her woes, offering her support. But Jennifer didn't care. It brought her contentment to some extent. She sighed. Now she couldn't do that. She would have to be patient with what she had. So she closed her eyes and heaved a deep breath."Mommy. I wish you didn't die. I wish you were here to take care of me. Maybe then, I wouldn't be so lonely." She whispered shakily and remained like that until once again, sleep overpowered her. Later during the night, one of Frank's men came into the basement to take away the plate and saw that the girl had not even touched her food last night. He didn't want to get into trou

"Her boyfriend?" the doctor sceptically eyed the well-built man in front of him. Everyone in the neighbourhood knew who Frank was. However, no one dared do anything, nor make any comment. Especially if they feared it might anger him."Yes." He confirmed, his face remained emotionless as he did.Gulping, the doctor averted his gaze from the mafia leader. Maintaining eye contact with him was hard when it felt like Frank was staring right into the doctor's soul."Okay." He finally sighed. He would rather believe what he was told than get himself into a mess."Your girlfriend seems extremely weak and stressed. I can tell that she is going through a hard time, even though I haven't talked to her. She seems pale. I think you should take good care of her. Maybe, shower her with love and attention. I know life is busy, but right now, you must give what she needs and that is your love." The doctor explained, frowning as he checked Jennifer'

Jennifer had not regained consciousness when she was reeled into the emergency room. The doctor who had visited them left as soon as the nurses at the hospital started to attend to her. Frank, his father and his cousin waited outside the emergency room for any news from the medical team. Frank's father was silently studying the reactions of his son and the other people around him. Being in the mafia for years had taught him not to trust a stranger, regardless of the situation. In addition to that, he had seen how reluctant Frank was to pick her up. And it raised questions in the old man's heart. He remained silent and chose to watch what happened, nonetheless. If his son was truly in a relationship with this girl, he would have to do some research before truly accepting her. "So she is your girlfriend? He asked Frank, scrutinizing his son's facial expressions. Frank on the other hand looked at his

Frank hid his real emotions behind a mask of a facade, something he had mastered over the years. He had to think of something, and fast. "I was going to….but….." "He wanted to surprise you all." Jennifer cut him in, surprising him. Well, that was fast. His lips parted as he glanced in between Jennifer and his father, who remained stone cold. "Okay ...well, I'm surprised." Frank's father stated nonchalantly. "How did you fall down the stairs?" He asked. "I slipped and fell." Came the reply. "I wasn't feeling well. I guess I shouldn't have tried to walk around since I was feeling dizzy." She sighed. "And why did you get up? The doctor must have advised you to rest. You just have to inform the maids what you need and they will attend to you." Frank's father had his eyes focused on Jennifer, who didn't seem to mind his cold stare. Infuriated, Frank stomped to his room and slammed the door shut, startling Jennifer who was inside already. She had come in a few minutes earlier, however, she didn't know where to start. She didn't have any clothes with her to begin with and had been waiting for Frank to come in. However, when she saw how irritated he looked, she instantly understood that something must have bothered him. Hence, she remained silent, not wanting to anger him more than he already was."Fuck that idiot!" He cursed, disregarding Jennifer's presence. "He is such a nuisance!" He grumbled and punched the wall. He was used to punching hard surfaces like it, however, it pained his knuckles each time."Damn!" Jennifer whispered as she stared at him with widened eyes. She was being as invisible as she could, but couldn't hold back from gasping when she saw how he punched the wall.Still fuming, Frank glared at her."Shit!" He cursed when he realised

Frank grabbed her hand a little too harsh, making her yelp, and snatched what she was hiding from him. When he saw that it was nothing but a notepad and a pencil, he froze. She was hiding this notepad from him? He had kept one on the dressing table before he left early in the morning. She must have seen it while she spent the day in the room. His gaze moved from the notepad to Jennifer, who had her eyebrows knitted together as she chewed on her lower lip nervously. Still looking at her, he opened the first page to check what she had written down. He didn't expect to see a splendid sketch on it. Frowning, he stared at it. Was she an artist? He wondered. This sure looked like a professional sketch. Frank, being an admirer of art, was shocked to see such a splendid sketch on his notepad. "I….I'm so sorry. I was so bored and then I saw this notepad…..I….I couldn't help it….. and I drew on the first page…..I'm sorry…." She stammered, fi

Jennifer admired her reflection in the mirror. A little smile was constant on her lips. She had never thought that her special day would turn out to be like this. When she grew up, she had hoped that her father would be there for her on this day. That he would walk her down the aisle, holding her hand. Yet, that was far from reality. Her father had proved himself to be nothing but a halfwit. Her wedding gown was nothing short of a masterpiece. The top was embroidered using beads and sequins. The lacy flared skirt gave the gown an elegant look. Although her neckline revealed enough of her cleavage, she was certain that no one would dare look there. No one except the man of her dreams. A long slit on the side revealed her smooth legs. She smirked as she traced the Glock that was strapped to her thigh. Carrying it with her at all times was now a norm for her.

Todd was lying on his back, with his eyes wide open, and his face suddenly drained of colour. No signs of life were in him. It was a quick kill. She noticed that the blood was pooling underneath his head but the wound wasn't visible. Which could mean that he was shot on the back of his head. She looked around frantically and spotted Frank at the stairs. However, he wasn't holding a gun. He too was staring bewildered.Just then, Frank's father stepped forward from behind."I told you, Todd was mine to kill," he said."Dad?" Frank was shocked to see his father."I heard what Mike told you. So I followed you upstairs. Didn't you realise that I was following you?" He smirked.Frank shrugged. "I guess

The security guards at the main gate at that time had seen him leave in his car so Frank and the others had opted to check the security footage."That insolent jerk!" Frank's father growled when he saw Todd emptying the contents of a small bottle into the bottle of wine he had taken from the kitchen cabinet. Everything happened as Jennifer had told them. Barton took the bottle from him and went to do what he was asked to.
