We Can't Back off

Frank studied her face. Her eyebrows knitted together as she glared at him. Little beads of sweat started to form on her forehead. "Look, it is going to be fine," he whispered back.  "Fine? How in the world will it be fine?! All the goons will be swarming around me and I'll be like baitfish in a tank full of sharks!!!" Jennifer stressed each word as she responded, a little too loud for Frank's liking.   "Shhh," Frank hushed her. "Let's go to the room. We will talk there." He told her in a hushed whisper.  Jennifer's heart thudded as they walked to the first floor of the mansion, to his room.  "Look, if we back off, my dad will be suspicious. He already is sceptical about our relationship, we can'

Nothing is changing...

The entire ride to the store was awkwardly silent. Frank said nothing because he wasn't someone who spoke much and Jennifer too remained silent. After all, she was anxious as hell. She wordlessly followed Frank when Mike pulled in front of the store. Mike watched how Jennifer obediently followed his boss. He had been stealing glances at them during the ride from the rearview mirror, amused by the fact that Frank seemed to be looking out for the girl. She was brought to his mansion as a prisoner and was supposed to be used as bait, however, destiny had other plans. He understood why he was putting up this act in front of his father and cousin. However, he didn't have to put up the same act when they weren't around. Cackling, he drove towards the parking area of the store to wait for his boss, and his 'girl'. "Welcome to Lilly's, how may I hel

Is He Being Nice?

Jennifer practically skipped on her way to the room. She ran upstairs and took the gown to hang on a hanger. Then she sat down with the notepad, wanting to brainstorm ideas. He had not told her a theme of the sketch he wanted, but her excitement was hard for her to contain. Tapping the tip of the pencil on her chin, she chewed on her lower lip.  "Maybe a serpent. Like the one I drew on the notepad." She thought out loud. However, she frowned. "No….he has already seen that sketch." She pouted. She wanted her sketch to be perfect. The gown cost a fortune and since he was the one who will be providing the canvas and the paint, she wanted the painting to be worthy of all that. Which meant that she will have to outdo herself. This painting has to be the best she had ever painted.

Truly the best girlfriend

The next day started with all of them having breakfast together once again. Jennifer noticed how Todd kept grimacing each time he stole a glance at Frank. However, she remained silent and chose not to comment on it. Frank's father was calm and collected while Frank seemed to focus on his food without uttering a word. He didn't seem to care about Todd's rude stare. Jennifer didn't mind the lack of conversation between the Gothams. An awkward silence hung in the air as they ate. The only sound that echoed in the grand dining room was the clinking of their cutlery.    "So, Jenny," Todd finally spoke, disrupting the silence between them, "aren't you bored to be all by yourself the whole day? I mean….as your boyfriend, I think Frank must take better care of you. Doesn't he take you on dates or anything like that?" Todd's question seemed strange to Jennifer. She couldn't discern why he should

Newfound emotions

Frank couldn't sleep. He kept tossing and turning on his bed. Finally, when he was able to rest his eyes, it was already three in the morning. Despite the little amount of sleep he managed to get, he was up by six in the morning when his alarm went off. It was time to get up and start the day. He had ordered the men to bring the new shipment of goods to the shack in the woods early in the morning where they would sort out and send them off in different directions.  "Did you carry me last night?" Jeniffer's melodious voice made him look in her direction. She was sitting on the couch and it seemed as though she was waiting for him to wake up. Her hair was pulled up in a high bun and was still wearing the button-up shirt and black pants she was wearing yesterday. He stared at her, wondering how anyone could look so breathtaking early in the morning.

Bitter and sweet

Frank was dumbfounded. He couldn't do anything besides staring at the goddess who was descending the stairs. He had seen the gown before, however, this was the first time he was seeing her wear it. He had always thought that she was attractive, yet seeing her all dolled up was something else.  The dress revealed the right amount of skin on her chest and shoulders and hugged her figure perfectly. The simple, yet elegant design looked as though it was specially made for her. The make-up she wore enhanced her soft features and her hair-do was flawless. However, what polished her look was the lovely smile she wore on her luscious lips.  When she halted in front of him, the alluring scent of her perfume made his mouth water. "Let's go?"

Ball Night

Todd kept taunting Frank with his smirk. Frank never danced with the women he slept with. He never showed them any kind of affection. They were more like furniture to him. Todd was almost certain that Frank would decline dancing with her, however, he was taken by surprise when he looked at Jennifer and raised his eyebrows.  "Will you dance with me?"  He asked and she flashed her best smile.  "Of course."  Frank's father and Todd watched as they walked towards the centre of the dance floor hand in hand. Dissatisfied by the outcome, Todd glared at them with a critical squint. He saw them move together, yet, he was still sceptical. Gritting his teeth, he scrutinised their movements. He felt that their movements were a bit weird. That they were too st

Surprises

The Mafia lord Parker narrowed his eyes at Rudolph. Indeed he had been working hard for his organisation and had it not been for the commendable work he had done during the past month, he wouldn't have given him a chance to speak. "You better have a good explanation for this," Parker stated, his eyes still narrowed on the middle-aged man who seemed to be despondent. "I….. I don't know…… I… it has been more than a month since I last spoke to her. I don't know any of this." He stammered. To say Rudolph was scared would be an understatement. He had been trying extremely hard to be on their good side. He had even risked his life when he sneaked into Frank's office that night to steal his laptop, hoping it would lead them to what they had wanted the whole time. It did have the information, yet it was misleading. However, his h

New Lair

Rudolph sped in his car to his apartment. He had vowed to himself that he wouldn't return until he managed to make his mission a success. Yet, returning home had become a part of succeeding. Never had he thought that he would have to come back to punish his maid. Or that he would have to plan an attack against his daughter. "She should have known better than to date him! Oswald is a way better choice than that good for nothing Gotham!" Seething, he steered the wheel of the car. The tips of his fingers were white with the force he was grabbing onto the steering wheel. Never did he think that he would see a day that he would have to go home because of a situation like this. When he went home, he was a little surprised to see it locked. Using his key, he unlocked the door and entered the house. The ho

Attack

As planned, Fox stealthily arrived at Gotham's mansion. Hiding in the shadows of the thick bushes, he spied on their movements. The men wore hats lowered onto their faces to hide their identities, and to Fox that was an advantage. That would only make it easier to pretend to be one of them. He waited patiently. He knew it would be best if he could find someone who was the same build as he was.He knew time was limited and that he had to get the work done by dawn because once the sun rises, it would be too late. He looked around. Four guards were armed with loaded guns at the main gate. Two lookouts were at the side gate and one other patrol was policing on the side. His focus was on the lone patroller. The build was somewhat the same as he was hence, he hastened to make his move. Fox remained in ambush as the guard patrolled. He was keenly waiting for him
