My eyes shot open as I was awakened by the constant ringing of my phone. Usually, I was a light sleeper, but I had been dog tired lately with everything going on at work. Being a foreman at a construction site, I made decent money. Unfortunately, I was putting in long hours. So for the past few weeks, I was really operating off of four or five hours of sleep. I wasn’t complaining about it, though. I stood at the doorstep of Zion and Nisa’s house waiting for one of them to open the door. I had just gotten off work, and I was beyond tired. I was there to pick up my girls and see what they wanted to do for the day. So there was no time for complaining. I would get sleep whenever I could.             “Hey, man,” Zion said as he opened the door to let me in.           

“Hi, Devyn. Nice to meet you,” I said as I sat down next to the copper-skinned beauty. I chuckled to myself at her mannerisms and the shyness that she was displaying. There was something about her that drew me to her. It surprised me that I even wanted to know what it was. “Nice meeting you too,” Devyn whispered nervously.

When my text notification chimed, I chuckled seeing that Devyn responded so quickly. She said she would text me later, so I wondered what encouraged her to get back to me so fast. Whatever the reasons were, I had to admit I was feeling good about it. After our conversation the night before, I knew we were going to remain in contact. It was surprising she beat me to it.Exiting my bedroom, I followed the sounds of laughter coming from my daughters. Sadia, Ariah, Layla, and Danai were in the middle of the living room floor playing with their dollhouse. It made me feel like a proud father seeing how Layla and Danai were still behaving like little girls at the ages of seven

After kissing Devyn last night, we ended up talking nonstop on the drive home and almost until daybreak in front of her house. The chemistry between us was extremely strong. I was definitely feeling Devyn. I was just waking up and needed to get moving, so I could pick my daughters up. I wanted to spend a little time with them before I had to go to work. Speaking of which, I needed to call their mother. It was when she was supposed to pick them up, but knowing Skylar, that could change at the drop of a dime.
