Chapter 9

After the incident, Caleb gradually sunk into despair.

He was the president of a company, but he refused to handle company matters anymore. He would only stay at home and drink every day.

He refused to eat, too. He wouldn't see anyone who came to visit, either.

In the many years I had known him, I had never seen him in such a sorry state. He was no longer the brilliant man he once was.

As I gazed at his tragic situation in my spirit form, I felt nothing but pity and hatred toward him.

If he had believed in me just a little bit, we wouldn't have come to this point.

Caleb sat dejectedly on the floor as tears streamed down his face.

Suddenly, he looked like he had sensed something in the air.

Scrambling to his feet, Caleb asked in a trembling voice, "Is that you, Liddy? Are you here?"

Sadly, no one responded to his questions.

He tried to stagger forward, but he tripped over the alcohol bottles strewn all over the floor.
