Caleb froze on the spot.

He stiffly turned around, and he didn't seem aware of the terror in his trembling voice. "Mrs. Wells… What do you mean by that?"

As soon as he finished speaking, someone opened the door to my mom's ward.

When David realized that Caleb was there as well, he walked right up to the latter.

Taking out his phone, David navigated to a certain video and pressed play.

He explained, "This is the surveillance recording from back then. Mrs. Wells asked me to retrieve it. She wanted me to help her figure out the truth behind the incident."

Caleb was clueless as he watched the video, but the more he watched, the darker his expression became.

I leaned in for a look, and I quickly realized that it was a surveillance recording of the flood back then.

The recording was zoomed in, and it showed Eva letting go of her own accord when I tried to get her into the lifeboat.

She still had a gleeful smile on her face when the flood carried her away.
