Chapter 48

Jade sat in the boat as far from Xavier as possible as she paddled the boat.

She felt a little guilt because she didn't offer him any food in the morning and he didn't ask for any.

He also didn't sleep in the tent but in the cold.

She turned to look at him and noticed how pale he was turning.

His purplish lips looked dry and color drained from them as well.

The anger he installed in her last night was still fresh in her soul so she refused to talk to him.

They camped out again by the river when night consumed the earth once more.

And this time, he sleep in the tent.

Jade woke up in the middle of the night when she heard funny noises which turned out to be Xavier's uneven breaths.

She felt his temperature and it was too high.

“Xavier!" She gently shook him.

He was visibly shivering on the inside.

Jade quickly checked his wound.

‘It is infected’

She quickly sat up, alarmed. “Can you hear me?"
